  • very nice.

  • Thanks for the comments. I like you're take on the piece. How's it coming?

  • I like it, I'm starting to learn it. Good job (yes there were a few slips, but still enjoyable). To me this kinda sounds like stumbling through the door at 3-4am totally drunk, and slipping into bed.

  • whoops... um.. why didn't you play the second part cross handed? a few slips...

  • @Caterski

Yes, I did have a few slips. I'm just SO thankful that I was able to play the whole recital (over 45 minutes worth of music) without a single train-wreck.

Why do you think the middle part should be played cross handed?

  • sick man!!! I'm learning this now, the stretches are killin me but I have pretty big hands so I just gotta get used to it

  • By the tip of my fingernail!!

    And Thanks!

  • By the tip of my fingernail!!

    And Thanks!

  • By the tip of my fingernail!!

  • How do you manage to reach the c# to e and all those other 10 note stretches? Very well played!

  • so much soul, my friend!!!!

  • Wow! Thanks!

  • I never noticed how much I loved this piece until I saw your performance. I always thought it was the most "boring" of the preludes, but after watching this, I certainly stand corrected!

  • Well, it was incredibly rude of that fellow to start yelling in the middle of your performance, but at least he had the decency to do it in time to the music. :3

  • Who's the sheet music publisher that you got this from? All the ones I find are edited too much.

  • @beastlybobo I used the Alfred version, edited by Maurice Hinson.

  • good job! sounds great!

  • You need to be shown more credit. This was indeed played well. Why did you choose this song? (Not in a bad way, I like understanding how people think.)

  • Honestly, I just wanted to play something bluesy.

    Thanks for the compliment.

  • You're welcome. How long did this piece take you to learn? I might go and grab a copy.

  • Well, I was learning a lot of music at the time, not just that one piece. I don't think it's a very hard piece to learn. The only thing is you need to be able to reach from C# to E a minor 10th above.

  • @bereddia

Heh... I just started learning it, and I hate that bloody tenth. Gershwin could have made it a third, but noooo. It had to be a tenth. He must have had gigantic hands!

  • Nice! You play it really well. All the other versions I've heard here on youtube are swung, but more than anything, George Gershwin wanted to be a classical composer, so I doubt he wanted it swung. And I like it so much better when it isn't. You did a very nice job =)

  • I credit my teacher, David Watkins, at Kennesaw State University. He has been a friend and mentor as well as a fine pianist and teacher. Being the very knowledgeable person that he is, He would have never let me swing it!

    Thanks for the compliment.
