there are some facial muscles also involved when a sunday driver crosses the car in your trace, like O.O or riding by the sea side and there are plenty hoochies in topless, like :P
@lbomb8 well if you want to get rid of body fat then you need to do high intensity, so fast/uphill on and off for 15-20 mins. if you do it too long and more gently then you start burning muscle as well. i'd recommend leaving at least a day in between these workouts, give your legs time to recover.
@bearhardman ok sounds awesome. thanks a lot for your advice. i have a bad back, doing sit ups is a bitch. i love love love riding my bike and have some tummy fat to lose but wasn't sure if cycling would cut it without doing sit ups. i do do core exercises as well so that could probably help if i can't do sit ups.
@lbomb8 Its a common misconception that sit-ups burn belly fat. In fact, sit-ups burn the less fat than most other exercises. If you want to burn fat to cardio like walking, running, or cycling.
The lower abs can refer to your lower back as well. They aren't the same muscles but because your core is basically your lower back and lower, deeper ab muscles I have come across many people that refer to them as the same thing. Which is absolutely incorrect but considdering the poorness of this program I'm not surprised.
By the way dizzo95, biceps and triceps always work together, like pecks and shoulders or abs and lower back or quads and hamstrings. The one controls the other
@hackingtime88 they tend to be worked in a lot of exercises because they support the body and also when you raise your legs up the lower abs will be worked a bit
Our asses get sore not because we used them, but because they get banged by the seat all the way long! Actually the expression is wrong. Instead of saying my fukking ass we should say my fukked ass.....
Nah, useless - they get the one key muscle correct, but then the rest of the information is usually way off base. Take a look through the other videos of the same kind from this user, and you'll see what I mean.
If they were correct, they'd be great. I wonder where they got the data from?
The abs support the muscles of the lower back to hold the core steady, working against the force of the legs which would twist the lower spine if they did not.
lets not forget the lats come into play in a big way when climbing in the saddle, or the triceps which essentially support the upper body while hunched over the bars.
sorry, but the least trained muscles of a cyclists happen to be the abdominals- its kind of obvious.
who made that? ever feel your triceps after a long steep decent?

There's no way your lower back extensors aren't involved. They definitely count as a "Supporting" muscle.

Why does my lower back ache so much if there are no auxillary muscles used? The sizing/position on my bike is just right and my abs never tire...

It's not true that only biceps and abdominal muscles are used as supporting muscles...
First, the PRIMARY muscle is the heart. Duh. It's a cardio-vascular exercise.
Cycling properly (spinning) uses hamstrings, quads, glutes, calves, hip flexors, even your lower back.
Biceps are used while climbing. Triceps are used CONSTANTLY for supporting your upper body weight.

Maybe not necessarily trained, but they are relied on to support the upper body, especially with higher cadences.
