Synyster is way better than this now, i saw A7X live in september and they were amazing everything was clean and Portnoy was Incredable. But i will admit that Syn was shit back then.

Not really a fan of the solo. Synyster has great musical solo's, no matter if he's playing quickly or slowly (which shows he doesn't rely on pure shredding to be impressive), and I appreciate that. Anyone can play quickly given practice, I'd prefer seeing the things that do make him great.

Alexi Laiho?Chris Broderick? Andy James?Jeff Waters? Mohammed Suicimez? Alex Skolnick? Steve Smyth? Glen Alvelais? Tim Calvert? etc etc etc all of those guys use diminished all over the place and mix them frequently with minor blues..certainly not 'incredibly brilliant musically'..very standard metal lead work.

@lean99zz Haha, I have indeed heard a majority of Avenged Sevenfold's material. I used to like them, but I just kinda fell out with it. I'm not a huge fan of them anymore. The guitar harmonies kinda turn me away. They are just.. almost irritating for my ears.

syn is a great composer, but it does not seem he is very good at improv shredding. Still does not detract from his talent, but maybe improv solos aren't for him?
@Metallica032693 Yeah it looks like he started to run out of ideas but the skill level he used still made for a great live show, and the work he does when he really sits down to write a solo landed him a spot on the cover of guitar player recently, so you can't say much about him. And besides, it's not like any of the guitar greats are coming up with any good ideas. In fact, I believe Alexi Laiho sponsored Hot Topic recently. If I had the will, I think I would cry.
Yea that's what I mean by a great composer. If he sits and thinks and writes he makes awesome powerful music. He is such a great guitarist, especially well suited for a7x

I'd say yea, Metallica is behind, they really don't have a good shot to make a groundbreaking album. Not really commenting with jealousy. I clearly said he's a good composer but making stuff up on the spot is not on his high spot. Just because he can't spontaneously make an epic solo does not mean he is not good at all. He is extremely talented and a very respected artist. He is just not good at impromptu solos.

Thiis doesn't sound that great, I may not be able to play as well as Syn but this is really sloppy and just isn't a great solo =/ reminds me of Dragonforce in the sense of just fast playing called a solo. Don't get me wrong, I love Syn and Avenged, but this just isn't his best =/

@lean99zz Haha, I have indeed heard a majority of Avenged Sevenfold's material. I used to like them, but I just kinda fell out with it. I'm not a huge fan of them anymore. The guitar harmonies kinda turn me away. They are just.. almost irritating for my ears.

@Metallica032693 Yeah it looks like he started to run out of ideas but the skill level he used still made for a great live show, and the work he does when he really sits down to write a solo landed him a spot on the cover of guitar player recently, so you can't say much about him. And besides, it's not like any of the guitar greats are coming up with any good ideas. In fact, I believe Alexi Laiho sponsored Hot Topic recently. If I had the will, I think I would cry.

I'd say yea, Metallica is behind, they really don't have a good shot to make a groundbreaking album. Not really commenting with jealousy. I clearly said he's a good composer but making stuff up on the spot is not on his high spot. Just because he can't spontaneously make an epic solo does not mean he is not good at all. He is extremely talented and a very respected artist. He is just not good at impromptu solos.

Thiis doesn't sound that great, I may not be able to play as well as Syn but this is really sloppy and just isn't a great solo =/ reminds me of Dragonforce in the sense of just fast playing called a solo. Don't get me wrong, I love Syn and Avenged, but this just isn't his best =/

Which is why Hendrix is always No. 1, when they're are a lot of players that blow Hendrix out of the water easy.
