  • you and rocky look awesome!!! just curious, what saddle do you ride in?

  • @eventing1217 i have a stubben scandica for dressage (hopefully getting a different one) and a cwd for jumping (looove)

  • how is that wonder bit or whatever you used in stadium. im trying to find a bit for my horse to jump in.

  • @TheEquestrian22 worked wonderfully at first....now not so much now that hes used to it :( soo if anyone has ideas....haha

  • @eventerx33 ok. id probably add a curb chain to it, but does it work like a gag or less strong?

  • @TheEquestrian22 hmm. idk. but no, its less strong IMO. its more like an elevator

  • @eventerx33 ok thanks.

  • ahhhh your horse...i love him!!! just a question do you like doing long format better i havent done one yet but fingers crossed i will this year just wondering if you felt more solid in xc after or not but you are awesome!!!

  • @Csquarejump YES! DO IT!

when i did the training three day in 2008 xc was AWESOME. absolutely awesome. you feel so much more comfortable galloping fences.

at this 3-day though, i honestly didnt feel a huge difference. rocky was so fit and strong that i was mostly worried about keeping him under control! and also no one in the prelim division knew what optimum time was..we all thought it was way faster than it was...so i was so focused on time i dont even remember doing most of the fences! lol

  • @eventerx33 haha well thats awesome, its nice when you are on a fit horse and have to take the reins!! ahah but yeah i hope so im thinking Virginia in the spring probably at training....i wish prelim but my trainer has other ideas dont we all wish we could just skip high school and just ride!! haha but thanks for the advice love it! and im super excited to see some more vids of you and rocky you guys are awesome!

  • @Csquarejump ah im excited for you they are a blast! both the ones i went to are really educational and had lots of help seminars. like we got to do a mini steeplechase clinic and stuff. just make sure you have someone to help you in the 10 minute box, i just had my dad..who is not horsey...but he followed directions pretty well ;) haha totally understand, im in the "skip college and a degree and just ride and show" phase of my life!

but thanks! good luck with showing!

  • @eventerx33 thanks! you too!

  • Christ that's a lot of portapotties! You guys look awesome!

  • @eminkay12 haha! it was at the kentucky horse park right after WEG! so i guess they had just gathered all of them :P and thanks!

  • gosh you guys are amazing! the long format thing looks so fun. Rocky is such a beast <3 o and id love to see your barn!

  • gosh you guys are amazing! the long format thing looks so fun. Rocky is such a beast <3

  • wow awesome! and i think you should make videos of all of the above you suggested :)

  • @eventing101 thanks! im going to try :)

  • wow you two look awesome!! theres a long format this season close to me (im in area 2) but i dont know much about it.. i feel bad but could you sort of explain it to me? hahah i know theres more phases but whats the difference between xc & roads & tracks & steeplechase? & you should join the account YTEventers!

  • @ponyrider456 DO IT!!! it is a GREAT experience!

okay, basically dressage and stadium is the same. you also have two jogs: one before dressage and one before stadium.

cross country day goes like this:

Phase A: warm up phase for steeplechase. usually you have time to trot and do a little gallop. (they have markers that go around the facility or through the woods, stuff like that)

youll finish phase a and then go to the start box for steeplechase. the finish flags for steeplechase.....

  • @ponyrider456 ....are the start flags for phase C, the "cool down" phase. this is much slower, like walk/trot. i walked too much so i had to do a little canter lol. anyway, after that you go into the 10-minute box where you cool your horse down and the vets take his TPR. if he is sufficiently cooled down in 10 minutes you go and head to the start box for xc!

    so much fun :)

  • @eventerx33 ohh i see so you do all the same stuff just theres more of a warm up for XC :) but in steeplechase do you jump? but just jump less than on XC? sorry for all my questions!!

  • @eventerx33 oh wait i just rewatched the beginning of your vid, & i see steeplechase is the brush fences :)

  • @ponyrider456 yehp thats right! :) you also go faster too, prelim is normally 520 mpm and steeplechase was 560 i believe, rocky was super excited haha. and no there isnt less on xc, the course was actually pretty big for a prelim and it was also pretty long!

  • @eventerx33 okay cool!! thank you so much! ive always been interested in doing one but i never fully understood!! oh golly thats fast.. i could see in the pics you were jumping the steeplechase ones fast, rocky was like landing 500 ft away from the jumps!! but at least its super nice at KY horse park :)

  • i have a comment, i love your horse! :)

  • @saylor4019 thanks! :)
