  • nothing is better then this they do do it like that any more to bad really love this song

  • yeah, there is Diana's lead, Mary and Flo's backing vocals, the great writers, Holland-Dozier-Holland, and then, there's "The Funk Brothers" (the band), and that horn! Yes.

  • Diana's voice sounds so sultry sensual seductive & sexual.

  • nice

  • J.Cole sent me here :D

  • Loved this song when it hit the top ten back in 1966, and still love it today. BEST dance music!

  • Thank God for Motown and the Beatles.

  • @squeakymonkfish you can thank the devil for the beatles but thank God for the supremes ;)

  • good days growing up back then early 70's ABC button from 7-11 and all

  • This is why Diana was picked as the lead singer of the group, no one could belt out hits such as this one like she did!

  • did THEY (motown/supremes/hdh) KNOW how MAGNIFICENT they TRULY were? this song is over 40 years in existence. STILL MONEY to this day. DR's vocals: STUNNING. whose idea was it to intro on ORGAN? and that simple sax at the bridge. manohmanohMANNNN. can't find the words to express my APPRECIATION/ADMIRATION/DETERMINATION to be MORE than THEY.

  • way ahead of its time

  • Yesterday 'Danko Jones' played a VERY GOOD cover from this song in real Rock 'n Roll style!

  • Cole World sample tracks XD...The Warm Up

  • Oh these fucking 4 walls...

  • This song marks the end of the Supremes' sound. You can't even hear Mary or Florence at all. It's all Diana!

  • Dreaming Of You!

  • Diana reminds me of my mom and this song makes me think of her.

    We will never forget you!!!!

  • WOW!!!!!

  • no-one with soul or who have experinced love could dislike ths

  • nice song

  • Dreaming Of You

  • THE MIGHT OF MOTOWN.....LET THE MUSIC PLAY X

  • Classic

  • simply amazing!! ;)

  • up in my lonely room...

  • dreaming of you!

  • Cool song. Those were the days!!

  • yeah its Diana Ross and the supremes, that's ms. Ross singing the Leads on all the 60's supremes

  • @sammy7819 Yeah, But Miss Mary Clapped her Hands!, Flo didn't show up for this Recording Session, so Mary had to Clap Twice as Hard!

  • qué bellaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! un Clásico! Thanks a lot The Supremesss! Dianaaa

  • Even after all these year Motown still put our the best music, the untimely music, the never get tired of it kind of music!!!!!!

  • Amazing song!

  • Deep & Many Thanks For The Post ♥♥♫♫♪♪ !!..

  • I agree!!!!!!

  • Definitely the greatest Motown beat! (from a huge fan)

  • Many Thanks For The Post !!

  • Yes, from the LP Holland, Dozier, Holland

  • I LOVE THIS SONG THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST SONGS DIANA and The Supremes EVER RECORDED #LoveIt #SingitDiana

  • Fantastic intro. Well, the whole song is fantastic.

  • FOR SOME REASON THIS OLD KIND OF MUSIC EASES MY SOUL.

  • sing it Diana

  • Glad to be a part of this generation of yesteryear. Great groups, and music.

  • Simply sends goosebumps down the arms. The world would have been empty without Motown.

  • the 4 tops did not sound like the temptations. stevie like marvin. they ALL had their OWN. but there was something undeniably SPECIAL about THE SUPREMES. to be able to stand OUT amongst such MAGNIFICENCE. manohmanohmanohman!

  • The totally thought the sample would be some dude with a deeper kind of voice. The way J.Cole slowed & pitched it down is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • @JimastaJ It was a dude. J Cole sampled a remake of the song thatw as done in 2009 by Mr. Lee Fields. J. Cole did not sample thsi version or slow it down. Look up Lee Fields My World IS Empty.

  • I love Smokey's version of this song but then again I like anything Smokey ;)

  • J Cole-My World Is Empty

  • wowwww

  • MUSIC LIKE THIS HAS GONE, I MISS YOU DETROIT AND GOOD MUSIC LIKE THIS

  • one of my favs

  • January of 1966.

  • It always irritates me when people call the original Supremes "Diana Ross & the Supremes." Since when this record was made Diana was ONE of the Supremes, that means she sang twice on this record, I guess. I am also greatly irritated when someone calls the Four Seasons "Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons." They'd be "Frankie Valli and the Other 3 Seasons" maybe.

  • The Supremes seemed to put out one song after another in late 60's. I like this song the best , but lots of memories while the Supreme were playing on my little transistor radio.Thanks.

  • @tamerswan - Glad you agree, thanks! If you love '60s Motown gals, drop by my channel and give a listen to "Attack!", by The Toys. It's among the most overlooked nuggets of genius from that incredible era.

  • They were 3 black women, trying to make it in a mostly white male world. I'd say they rocked that world totally.

  • THIS IS MY JAM .. ONE OF MY SUPREMES FAVS

  • Heard this song for the first time in 1972 living in Long Beach, CA- to this day it is one of my favorite Motown hits !!

  • The "Andantes" did all of the "Back Ground Vocals" over 20,000 at Motown!

Take a look at the "Only Remaining Original Member", Louvain Demps singing on the PBS special with the Late Lou Rawls hosting. Freda Payne gives a HOT SEXY Performance, as does Mary Wilson, Aretha and the ever Fantastic Thelma Houston. DIVAS, EVERYONE!

  • welcom to my world

  • NOTHING beats Motown!! The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Martha and The Vandellas, Gladys Knight and The Pips, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder and SO many more!!! Simply amazing!!

  • @Nitro1970 AGREE AGREE AGREE!!!!

  • @Nitro1970 I agree 100%

  • @Nitro1970 NOTHING COMPARES TO THE OLD MOTOWN SOUND

  • great song!!

  • A great classic by one of the greatest pop vocal groups in U.S. history. The Supremes gave the Beatles a run for the money, and that's saying something!

  • J Cole World Empty Brought me here

  • Quality.... never to be repeated :))

  • 5 stars ..........PERIOD !!!!

  • I like Mary better as a brunette.Liked Cindy but loved Flo.Diane too.The Supremes!!!

  • This is magic!!!

  • That beat! Please someone coerce Ms. Ross back into the studio - we need more "I Will Survive" & "Take Me Higher" - Please. If Donna Summer & Cher & Bette Midler & Tom Jones & Elton John & Streisand can do it, so can she, Thank you for posting this classic original dance track !! DAVEDJ

  • @ANASTASIACHAVEZFILM Nah...i don know if any of em actually HAD gas when they recorded this,LoL...less juss say they were juss COOKIN when they did this track!!Sounds safer,LoL...though i don know if they were cookin the sunday roast either,LoLoL!!x

  • My world is less empty thanks to this.

  • @tedkruckel That's so sweet of you.

  • Comment removed

  • i like this song..diana goodness!!

  • Love the vaguely 'menacing' vibe to this track...man...those cats were cookin on GAS!!!!

  • One of my FAVORITES by The Supremes!

  • There's a song by a relatively new band called The Coral that made a song called "Dreaming of You" It copies the bass line, and almost exactly copies the melody. Hopefully it wasn't stolen intentionally. Beautiful song.

  • Lovely song the first time I heard this song I cried.

    Really explains loss, and pain.

This song is also beautiful played backwards.

  • The one on the left KIND OF looks like Mary J. Blige. ???

    :)

  • wish noisia could use the original sample in my world :)

  • I had this song on eight track when I was a young man, now I am an old man and I still love this song as much as forty years ago...........amen!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The Supremes, not Diana Ross and the Supremes. Flo for ever!!!

  • @greenmean1 Oh foh fuk sake...get OVER it man!!Iss HISTORY already (an by DECADES AND DECADES as well!!)

  • @greenmean1 YES ... NEVER FORGET ABOUT DEAR FLO

  • My mother is a diana ross, temptations, ray sharles, mahalia jackson baby so all these songs from that era are etched in my brain . She would blast them throughout the house whenever it was cleaning day or just when she was in her " me time" moment. This is real music. I'm an early 80's baby, so I had my time when the 90's rolled around.

  • My mind and soul have felt like this..since love between us, no more exists </3

  • i like lee fields cover.amazing

  • I WOR OUT MORE THEN ON COPY WHEN I WAS A KID. I STILL LOVE THIS RECORD

  • nice

  • Lost my lifes partner in 2000 this song says it all rip rar

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. This song is still one of my all-time favorite Motown cuts. I love the musical arrangement and the simple lyrics. This song is great!!!

  • PRAISE GOD!!! what can you say about MOTOWN. something about this song. who chose to OPEN with that organ play? stunning. something mystical about this piece. and HONESTLY, im not trying to be DEEP. it is just that when you listen to the complete MOTOWN catelog, the ONLY thing you can say is DANGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG AND MORE DANGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like this song , nice voice

  • PRICELESS!!!!!LOVE THE OLDIES!!!

  • roggy luciano

  • listen the song dreaming of you by the coral are almost the same

  • @danyskan yeah i noticed that, pretty weird listening to an old motown song and having it remind me of some indie song i heard on scrubs, probably should be the other way around

  • Ha they would play this at school dances and why I still don't no . a fight would bust out and all hell would start up . Man I loved that .

  • Great song and Diana sounds wonderful. Shame you can't hear Mary or Florence :(

  • Love the sax in this song.

  • aT 63 AND DECADES BEYOND SEEING tHE SPREMES ONSTAGE, i AM STILL AN ADORING FAN. COVER ART,ONLY, OR ACTUAL VIDEO, THIS ONE'S A WINNER!

  • Such a bad song but, such a wonderful baritone sax line

  • @sethduhnke Such a BAD song? Sorry, I disagree completely there.

  • @sethduhnke what is bad about it?

  • @MsDIMENO Thin singing, lousy lyrics but, I will still listen to the song for that amazing sax

  • @sethduhnke Well, the lyrics aren't Shakespeare, I'll give you that, but the two Hollands and Mr Dozier possessed an enviable gift for writing appealing, singable tunes which stick firmly in the memory, which is part of what makes a great pop song. If you want something "deep" and "meaningful", listen to your Radiohead albums. As for Diana's vocal talents, she may not belt them out like an opera diva, but her gentle, almost child-like at times voice suits her material perfectly, in my opinion.

  • @marksoutof10 Well-taken points and I do love Radiohead. Can we agree that Baritone sax kicks ass and leave it at that. Peace

  • @sethduhnke I don't hear bad in this song, its completely beautiful and its takes you back.

  • Diana is Killing this on tour right now..she was in atlanta..and when she sang this song i almost cried..her voice is still so pretty..but this is such a sad song..

  • i love this song♥

  • i love this song!!!

  • Ultimate bliss from a true legend DIANA,

  • I love the background on this song and, I can relate to words of pain, especially when a long marriage is over it hurts.

  • @lovelizabeth57 I guess we're in the same boat. I just had 26 years end. So hard learning to sleep alone again. bilbo2shire

  • I dedicate this song to Dracula and Nosferatu

  • real music, and real silver coins are missing today.

  • Hey Simon! THIS is MUSIC!

  • Holy shit. Sounds like the coral - dreaming of you.

  • @CyaaaDuude hahahaa kind of...

  • loves this!!

  • a true talentxxx

  • More than memory lane can say!!! Truly a classic. This was a great treasure to stumble upon.

  • Can't believe there are people who don't like this. Seriously?

  • @pohlerbeary There's people who love this..then there's everybody else. Go figure

  • @pohlerbeary Takes all sorts i guess!!Me...i LOVE it!!

  • @pohlerbeary that's because they don't know music.

  • @pohlerbeary And I cant believe there are people who takes the likes and dislikes button on youtube seriously. DAMN! ANd there are just so many of em:))

  • @pohlerbeary really? you're kidding, right? NOT LIKE THIS?????? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. some people have no taste at all. i am so lucky i grew up in detroit when motown started. it is in my dna.

  • @pohlerbeary they're probably white supremacists or some other kind of non-human being

  • All the rap bullshit that pollutes the air today would be enveloped by this single Motown Classic!!!

  • NOISIA.

  • i wonder if the 'search' for the RIGHT instrument was hard for HDH; MOTOWN being SO MAGNIFICENT with their INTROS. that ORGAN lead, as the rest of the song, along with the vocals: UNMATCHED.

  • wattever333, I accidentally hit spam when i tried to reply to your comment. Yes that is a bari-sax, played by Funk Brother Mr. Mike Terry

  • you kinda gotta love the rare occasion that Diana Ross, contrary to the usual tragic story of the huge potential ruined by substance abuse (ahem, elvis, jim morrison, etc), has managed to live rather cleanly. While being really awesom.

  • @SgtDonuts Diana Ross is a recovering alcoholic--and that is no joke. She was also depressed after her second husband left her after 14 years of marriage.

  • @Annazayla ...yes, i could tell diana is depresed...she looks so sad...as if she is about to cry...i'm a big fan...!

  • 1-6-1-6-...

    is that a baritone sax?

  • Yes it is, played by Funk Brother Mr. Mike Terry.

  • Beautiful song, I swear the singing becomes more painful and stronger the more she sings.

  • holy crap....i cant describe it but the resemblance between this and the Coral's Dreaming of You is uncanny....that came later btw. both are fantastic, but this is a bit better imo.

  • 3 classy black women! LOVE IT. Wish there were more ppl like them these days.

  • I always feel like I'm at a pep rally when I hear this gem! LOL

  • I tought this song was made when they were still The Supremes... Anyway, love this song too much, it's very different from the rest of the supremes songs, it has a sad feeling, but still make you wanna sing and dance along =)

  • It was recorded before the name change, quite a while before in fact. Those old records have been repackaged a lot since then.

  • @HyruleanaZeldin the song has a gothic undertone(mysterious, sad tone) The song was recorded in 1965 and your right they were known as the Supremes. This is by far the saddest of all the Supremes released songs. Another one from the I hear a Symphony Lp.was called Any Girl In Love another sad song but it was not released as a single. the Supremes were at the top of their game during this time. of course the music and diana's sweet voice makes this record. theres not much background its the lead.

  • the title is wrong. They were the supremes when they recorded this song

  • @Alie1987 not exactly. the song was re-released under the diana ross & the supremes band title thing, so the poster of this video just used the later release as the song title.

  • ooo no not not gaga and chris

  • Love this song . . . love Diana's delivery . . . the lyrics . . . played this just last week at least 30 times in a row . . . thanks for the share.

  • Brilliant song, anyone got the Originals version? thats great too

  • Queen's of Motown

  • todas eran flacas! ñaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :( me gusta la cancion :D

  • she sounds convinced no one can touch her

  • The Real Diva,that sweet voice,thanks Diana.

    Eat this Lady Gaga,Britney,Xtina,Pink.

  • @kickassfan LOL,,, Lady Gaga wouldn't be fit to iron their clothes!

    Good stuf

  • @tubefluid hhahahaa...thanks 4 ur comment,really funny

  • @kickassfan isn't that the truth couldn't agree with you anymore! never again can this talent ever be duplicated! Diana will Always be, the Greatest !

  • @kickassfan Don't forget Beyonce and Miey! They suck too!

  • @kickassfan The 3 dislikes probably listen to Lady Gaga, Britney, Christina and Pink,

  • @BiggestChipmunksFan Know I agree with the Supremes' style of music is always better than the current generation, no one can deny that CHRISTINA is one of the few that actually has talent.

  • @BiggestChipmunksFan hahaha true story, worst of all, what the hell do they do here?...

  • I love this song.

    Just beautiful!

  • i saw are also in arnhem she is simply the best love her ......!!!!!!

  • saw her yesterday in Arhem ( netherlands) she was Stunnig..!!

  • its amazing how great she sounds and how even the best of singers these days cant come close to the amount of feeling that she had. not even when they are trying really REALLY hard. Marvin Gaye was the same way. if you listen to My Mistake with Ross and Gaye you can almost hear the heart break in his voice :( amazing!

  • TheHarryBalzonya . . .thank Motown / Berry Gordy, all the powers that be for the training they gave their roster of stars . . . they prepared them for "the long run" . . . just love this sogn.

  • I agree, this is how real raw music is and it's great....

  • Has anyone heard dreaming of you by the coral? It sounds like my world is empty witout you! If youhavent heard search it in now!

  • you're right :)

  • I love all the use of LIVE instruments in the background... The way music was meant to be. ;-)
