Gosh, you could have completed a painting in the time it took to set up your pallet. I am sorry ,but I would have lost all interest in my painting if I had to go through all that pre-mixing everytime.
I do enjoy seeing the palette laid out in advance, it's true. I agree that almost everything here will need to be altered in some way, but they are often 80% true, and each mixture is an excellent starting point. In addition, this is a mental exercise akin to doing a value study and I find that preparation to be very helpful. This was only a second day mixture - on 3rd or final days, I'll have 11+ values for each. I like to think of this palette as "interpretive." Thanks for your comment!
just love your work. Iam a big fan .Heres a question for you...............can those results be got by using student quality paint? Also can you suggest any exercise for me to do to understand Value............cant seem to grasp it. thanks a mill LG.
interesting to see the detail in which you pre-mix your colors. I'v also tried this, but always find that I need to adjust everything while painting, so all original mixtures are lost. So I stopped doing this alltogether. Don't you have this problem? I remember your remark about lipking not judging colors by looking at the subject but by comparing on the palette. Do you pre-mix this elaborately for the same reason?
what the fuck is this video???? every man with two eyes can do this lol

Actually you save time by premixing. Any time spent mixing in the beggining is more time spent painting later.
