Also just to reiterate so it doesn't sound like I am a terrorist I am 13 and I want to become a pilot, so I am really interested in aviation, and I want to ask the pilots some questions
@thestig747. PT 1: I have connections to the airline so I can more easily ride in the jumpseat than most. My advice though is to call Air New Zealand one or two days before departure once you have bought your ticket & explain how you'd love to ride in the jump seat. They might put a note in the system requesting this or they might say to ask a check-in staff member on the day, & hopefully they'll put in a request to the captain.
@Steve181 PT 2: Don't take it personally if the Caption says no, there are many reasons why like if the jump seat is being occupied by an engineer needing transport to another port or if the weather is complex etc. If you can't get the jump seat you can always ask a flight attendant if you can meet & ask the pilots a few questions during or after the flight, I'm sure they will be happy to. I don't fly for a living but I do have my Commercial Pilots Licence, if you have any questions PM me. :)
How do you get to go in the cockpit, it seems a lot easier then on the boeings and airbus's. I am flying from Christchurch to Rotorua in 2 months or so, and I really want to get in the cockpit, thanks mate.
i farted on one of these planes and punked out the whole cabin hoohoohoohoo was a turbulent flight too so for most of the flying i was woffing the seat with all the bumps hoohoohoohoo
well not exactly a bigger model :) but the newer ATR has an all glass cockpit, updated engines and higher ceiling range or something like that. way back they were thinking about making an ATR 82 i don't see why Alenia/Aerospatiale (whatever they're called now) they should go back and consider it again it would be great :)
I would say that air new zealand will replaces them with the Q400 but with the Q400's landing gear that would be a bad move!!!!!!!and the 600 are faster.
