  • That's rare. Funky chin-piece and all!

  • Now dont fuck around, you know the rules and you know I wont stand for it

  • I would like to thank god, my family and everyone here on youtube for the fact that neither one of the top two comments are related to the quality of the video. God bless you and good night

  • the spanish group the iberos great version look

  • LOL. From the quality of the video, this was just before Magellan set sail to circumnavigate the globe.

  • lock, stock & two smoking barrels!:)

  • The only word to describe this is simply GROOVY!

  • the chinbeard was truly ahead of its time

  • @awesomemcnugget - actually the chinbeard was around before this, in the beatnik era late 50s early 60s, but i do agree these kids could pass as modern kids today.

  • Poor quality? No, this is excellent quality, in my opinion. Anything fuzzy, black and white, distorted, primitive, raw, etc. is GREAT!

  • I dedicate this to Fox "News"

  • @TomMinderson You're remark about Fox News shows your ignorance.

  • I'm from OSHA and those girls have no restraining DEVICES

  • We had fun!!! I won't stop having fun...never...going on 58...and feel like a kid still. It's all in the heart!!!

  • Catchiest song of all time! I'm yet to get sick of it.

  • "Still bitchin'"! Yesssss!

  • Too cool....the dancers, the nerdy keyboard player, the sideburns on the singer, that groovy 60s chord progession. And, if you are in Minnesota, the Castaways are playing the Apple Valley American Legion THIS WEEKEND!

  • I won't be born for another 40 years and I LOVE THIS

  • Great song.

  • The drummer was 15, they were high school kids from Richfield, Mn.

  • those hot dancing girls look like my student teachers from 1966 when i was in the 4th grade

  • Is the drummer like 9 years old here?

  • so fucking rad

  • White trash on choppers circa 1965 -- 1966. Real bikers -- real music -- real times. Nothing like an old Roger Corman movie.

  • pixelated ? is that something to do with pixies ?

  • codecs , what's that , hell i didn't see my first color tv till i was 7 ,

we finally owned one when i was 11

  • totally groovy, love the vocal harmony and bass playing.

  • Man, back in the 60's things were really pixelated. The codecs in the 60's must have sucked.

  • @uberalles2 Pixelated? Analog pure analog. In the 60s if you would have said codecs they would have looked at you like you had two heads or something.

  • Loved this back when it came out...still LOVE it!!!!

  • Go Go dancers yay! Go Go grannies now.

  • does anyone know if that big person is a man or woman?thats so funny.oops, the one dancing.

  • @surferlaments ... For us guys in SoCal in those days this was the sound track to our surfing perfomances. It wasn't exactly surf music but it was aggressive.

  • That dude can really sing that high too, that isn't some chick singing. He can do that Bee Gee voice.

  • It wouldn't be worth anything if it wasn't. POOR, you say?

  • The break is so groovy and almost sounds like 90's punk.

  • fuck yeah!!

  • Fender Rhodes organ?...dunno, but whatever it is it makes all the difference in this little mid 60's chestnut of a song....dig the chinstrap beard on the guitarist lol

  • Fender Rhodes organ?...dunno, but whatever it is it makes all the difference in this little mid 60's chestnut of a song.

  • the 16 people that dislike this video are liers u cant not like this song as for the rest of u rock on

  • @Fenderstrat1313 I remember when this one came out, even though I was quite young. Loved it then and it still sounds great, the sign of a true classic.

  • One of the five best tunes in the Nuggets box set.

  • this song is amazingggggg... LOCK,STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS awwe yeah one of the best movies i've ever seen =D

  • I always thought that this was a black group

  • @GOTTERDAMMERUNGSR Oops! Not quite....they're a Minneapolis, Minnesota garage band. Played at high school dances for us. I'm 60 and remember them well.

  • @debbiedamoose ..... lots of garage bands back then ..... ahhhh, i remember it well !!

  • @debbiedamoose

I'm 61 and I owned the Fender Jaguar guitar that was played on this song!! Fender does not even make it anymore...and yes I am from Minneapolis.....many, many garage bands and Bob Dylan too!! Dinkytown and the Riverside Cafe on the West bank rocked in those days!!

  • @welchjj The guitarist is using a Rickenbacker, no Jag in sight! Bassist with a Fender Jazz Bass. What Fender Jaguar are you referring to??? (june 10 2011)

  • love this demented classic. Surely an influence on Vampire Weekend. Anything garagy with go godancers is cool.

  • Paul Kalkbrenner - Crazyness of Myself :D

  • Thanks for posting this. I liked the song, but never knew anything about the band. I always imagined a 2 man combo with a guitar and a keyboard playing Holiday Inn lounges. LOL

  • @FoxRunMan Welcome to Minneapolis, MN. Land of snow and cold. Except, we welcome warm folks like you. I danced to the Castaways when I was a teen...I'm 60 now and still love them. Keep in touch. D.

  • @debbiedamoose Thanks for the welcome. I'm 66 and live in Colorado, so I know something about snow and cold. LOL I only knew these guys from their one hit on Top 40 radio back in the day, so it was fun to see the video of them.

  • this is music!

  • this is music!

  • Paul Kalkbrenner :D

  • This is more than really boss....These guys played at my high school dances!

  • WOW - I was born in 60. Youngest of 4 boys. This brings me back. Great post!

  • 60s good morning vietnam

  • Good go-go music.

  • For years I believed that woman sings in this song...what a fail :))

  • For 45 years I have never tired of this one. A true anthem of a very special moment in time.

  • lock stock and two loaded barrels!

  • @maxb8097 Almost. :)

  • There was a time when music could be as fun as it could be serious. The 60's were truly a revolutionary time for music. I miss the excitement of it all. Songs like this are why.

  • this shit is so good that some faggot rap group in NL had to use it a few years ago.

  • This really takes me back to a little girl................I've always have liked this one. Music isn't like this anymore.

  • Love this song! Some of the best music of the 60's came from one hit wonders like this group!

  • this song is pure pussy (richard pryor voice)

  • Man, bring back the 60's........well, the music, at least!!!!! Love the song and the memories. Thanks for posting.

  • has anyone noticed how much this sounds just like an early Mothers of invention tune. or was it the other way around?

  • The one dancer on the right looks kind of "large" to be up on that platform. The other one was brave to get up there with her.

  • @meego1234 Yes, she was the producer's daughter.

  • @meego1234 oh my God, she's ENORMOUS!

  • @harvbanger Are you sure it's a she?

  • This is really boss!!

  • @meego1234 And I really love the dancers moves! Pure 60's

  • i had just turned 4 when this was big, and I still remember the feeling at the time

The teens/young 20 somethings of the time seemed so cool

  • This song was huge during the summer of 65. It also reminds me of the L.A. Watts riots, because the song was in my head from listening to it on the radio, then coming back from Huntington Beach with my parents, when I was 10 years old. We got in the house and freaked-out at watching the riots unfold, that same day.

  • @glaetze I recall the time, too. My parents had planned to take a trip to Europe and cancelled because ofd the riots. My dad was offered two tickets to a Dodger game, but my mother wouldn't let us go. I remember the song from that moment in time. On channel 9, there was a commercial for "9th Street West" that showed dancers dancing to "Liar, Liar." One of the most memorable summers of my life.

  • Sometimes you just have to put on a 'shift' and do the jerk.

  • Have mercy. What a cool song. Thanks to Guy Ritchie for including it in his movie "Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels". This song playing during the card game was a highlight of the movie. Now to go find some of their CDs.

  • after 45 years I stll love this song

  • Looks like this was from Hullaballoo.

  • This song is bitchin'! Under 2 minutes even! LOL My Dad had this recorded on his Sony reel recorder when he was in the Army in Germany from 66' to 67'.

  • Holy crap this is amazing. How did I not know of this band?! Find of the month!

  • Your right !...it's still bitchin !...love watching the three dancers above the drummer !

  • This is surely as perfect a pop song as you're likely to hear. Killer bassline too. These old 60s shows looked great fun, with the dancers bouncing around in the background! It's impossible not to feel good after listening to this.

  • these guys held their guitars really HIGH...wow, cool song but not a cool look

  • Great tune, love it.

  • this song is so catchy!!!! i cant stop listening to it! does anyone know any other songs like this i should check out that are as catchy???

  • @thedude00000 Check out Danny Hutton 'Roses and Rainbows', The Tremeloes 'Here Comes My Baby', and The Newbeats 'Run, Baby, Run'.

  • This was on the play list of the real Mods, back in 1965. There were no Punks back then, well, not in the UK, at least. There were Rockers, but they didn't buy into our culture at all. So, about 45years old, yet it still feels as fresh as the day it got released.

  • this group was from Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S. wasn't it?

  • The year was 1965 folkatka. #5 on Billboard charts. One Hit Wonder too.

  • Did they really become the Plasmatics?!!! This is a great early psychedelic song. Very psychedelic. Sound like the soundtrack to those good old Roger Corman films like "The Trip"! Strawberry Alarm Clock-ish.

  • @LesbianVampireLover No, I was talking about how they sound.

  • Then they grew up and became the Plasmatics!

  • @nutella1ful No, they are still The Castaways, but I think there is only one original member left. Do a Google search and you can find the bands website.

  • @evagrubb That was a joke son! I was refering to the way they sounded back then.

  • Great punk song! Which year it was?

  • @folkatka

    1965

  • Yes, still BOSS after 45 years...

  • I can't believe I found this song... a blast from the past! Never did understand the lyrics... but I LOVE the 60's sound!
