  • Creepy... But in a good way.

  • I've always found these String Tribute performances to be a pretty frustrating listen, especially when they interpret heavier bands.

They don't really seem to understand to try to keep some of the dynamics of the original music that they are playing, which is odd considering how important it is in classical music . Another source of annoyance is the way they utilize legato. They often have an awful Country/Western flavour to them, almost like a slide guitar.

  • This song gave me goosebumps, just like the first time i listened to tool's version.

  • Jesus, won't you fucking whistle

something but the past and done? (x2)

  • Absolute perfection, I bought the String version on CD, its just THAT good.

  • So Cool.

  • Goddamn gorgeous.

  • I love tool and classical music and this is "good enough"

    BUT....

I must admit i am quite disappointed with the arrangement and transcription. I have the whole album of this and so many parts don't match the actual song's metre, rhythm articulation, sound and or feel (from a production standpoint) which is sad, cause many end up sounding like a cheap rip-off instead of a worthwhile tribute.

I'm really happy with the idea,...just wish someone would make a better (accurate) version : (

  • god this is so fucking awesome

  • jesus christ this is good.

  • O. M. G. I LUV THIS VERSON AND THE SONG. VERY HUGE EPIC WIN!!!!!

  • man i thought this was Apocalyptica for awhile.

  • it took forever just to end up here

    LOl this is the isssh<333333

  • This is good . I like String quartet Joy Division the best though.

Isolation's great. Their New Order Regret sounds like a purpose composed String Quartet piece

  • So worth the price.

  • Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful in my opinion.

  • LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ooooo if my teacher has us do a movie trailer for a book, this is so gonna be the background music. i also wanna mix this with the original song. how kick ass will that sound?! :D TOOL FOREVERRRR

  • @uberspazzcake217

Put Maynard's voice to the background of these strings :D

  • @rsjokes i'll try it man!

  • lil dude @ 4:07 looks like Grendel in the most recent Beowulf movie...

maybe they saw this video first?

  • Highly doubted lol

  • absolutely incredible

  • Fabulously delicious!

  • Nailed it!!!

  • ..its a string quartet its instrumental...

  • When my son was 4 we were in the car and I was playing one of my Tool CDs and he said, "Mom, Tool music is like listenign to Math." That's when I knew he was going to be brilliant, lol. He's 11 now and is a year ahead in school and in all the gifted classes, and still a huge Tool fan.

  • @AlluringShrew a four year old intuitively picking up on the concept of time signatures and other musical complexities is very impressive

  • @AlluringShrew im 14 and im can do almost everything in my head get it right and astound teachers. Its kinda funny, because i been listening to tool ever since i could remeber.

  • @AlluringShrew liar.

  • @AlluringShrew that is amazing. you already know this, but i'll say it anyway. your son is a genius.

  • @AlluringShrew Get that kid music lessons. He'll be the next Maynard.

  • @AlluringShrew ur sons a tool... fan

    aswell :P

  • @AlluringShrew Okay, I know you made this comment two years ago. Don't care. Just gotta say it. That is a fucking great story. All the best to you and your son.

  • this sounds pretty good. might buy the string quartet tribute to incubus

  • Ah, a fellow person with good taste in music.

  • Tool is just so hard to cover. I like the cellos but this isn't very close. I like all their other works. It's very hard to cover progressive with cello and violin or whatever I guess.

  • i understand where ur coming from. i think this is a lot more gentle than perhaps it should have been. the bass powerchords in the beginning could have been accented in the cellos more, and more could be done with texturing to give the vocal line a more abrasive tone to emulate maynard. this is more like an arrangement rather than a cover.

  • Wow.

  • Tool = genius

  • i agree completely

  • This is a fantastic cover! I haven't heard the actual version because I'm not a huge Tool fan, but... wow!

  • Beautiful, it adds an eerie yet sweet feel to this great song!! This would have fucking awesome to see live!

  • one word...EPIC!!!

  • This allows me to views Tool's music through a totally new perspective.

  • Awesome! This is the best Tool song and it has a tribute!

  • Bah putin quand j'écoute ça, une vraie giffle!

    Fuckin awesome!

  • i've got this whole cd, pretty fuckin' awesome

  • i bet man

  • this is dazzling haha best i can do

  • that sounds really good, i luv it

  • THAT IS AWESOME

  • Man, the original version is cool, but what a friggen cover!

  • awesome

  • hahaha....you are crazy, dude...definitely...this has none whatsofreakingever connection to Apocalyptica...they never covered any TooL songs...only Metallica's...

I think the band is called Anatomica...or sth like that...not sure...but it is definitely not Apocalyptica...damn...

  • You are correct.

  • Its the Vitamin String Quartet if Im not mistaken, they do amazing covers of popular songs, definatly worth looking into.

  • r u serious come on

  • back in high school we had this art teacher named Mr.Chapa. He always played classical music. I guess that what got me in to the love for classical music too. I wish i could play this back then art would be waaay better.

  • but this isn't classical.

  • It's classic, though...

    lol.

    CLASSICALY BADASS!!

  • no its not however it is CLASSICALLY THEMED. not music wise but sound wise.

  • Timbre. okay yeah orc4l got his vocab a little backwords, we all know what he meant so let it go

  • holy shit, this and the real version sync'd is a trip!

  • reveals the drama and intensity if tools music.

  • Freakin beautiful!!

  • Play the version by Tool with this one and it kinda adds to it. Though you gotta get it synchronized.

  • that song just slew the dragon.

  • A Song for every generation , great spirit , LOVE IT!

  • beautiful piece of suversion

  • This reminds me of a Tim Burton film, with the video and the strings.

  • I have their attention,,, this was amazing, art with the stings.. WOW, 5 of those useless stars goes to whoever did this :-)

  • It's the strings guys, the most emotionally powerful instruments! :p Tool's songs transposed through orchestration just emphasises the emotive energy of their songs.

  • i agreer i think its something about tool. ive listened to alotta string covers and yet im biast being a TooL junkie ,they seem to be the best

  • I like SOAD more then Tool, and yet, I still think Tool String Covers are better

  • ah i havent heard the soad strings yet is it any good? worth it?

  • Yeah, I REALLY like Toxicity. They're nice.

  • oh thats cool =P. ill be sure to get it soon.

i downloaded this torrent with like 40 string tribute albums.. it was amazing... pink floyd, led zepp, tool, chilli peppers and like heaps more. but i dunno why soad was not on there!! Tool was just amazing tho.. better than all the others.

  • omg just goooood like hell

so great, dramatic n crazy DA HECK why r nt they s famous as tool by itself? ^^ nah i really love tool n they r just a little bit better i ld say, but THEY r great

i would give the stringquartet a complete suckin movie n they would make a good 1 out of it, just with their great music!!!

  • holy...crap. this is really amazing

  • I simply love it. Like the originals I can tell a difference between them and APC. My opinion is the string quartet tribute to sober is so much more...close to it than the 3 Libras version. It just that right when it starts off it pulls you in. And it has this eerie dark edge that I know and love.

But I don't know... just my thought.

  • I think that this the 9 string Quartet I think

  • without question one of the most powerful string tributes..

  • On which tribute album is this song?

    greetz

  • undertowe

  • All of their Tool tribute albums are amazing. It's an incredible listening experience separate from the original. Astonishing stuff. Recommended highly.

  • Increible!

  • This was great! Perhaps something could have been done to add to the 'vocal' piece.. Otherwise this was great I can see why rock/metal and classical music is not such a strange mix now.

  • This is just beautiful... I might just actually prefer it to the real version. O.o

  • Fuck this is mean

  • this is really good

really good did an orcestra make this?

  • Look at the name of the video.

A string quartet made this. and that's usually two voilins, one viola and a cello.

    Great video and song btw.

  • you can hear the cello at the start, and the 2 violins come in at the begining and the viola has the solo 30 seconds in... (=

  • Is there a way to download this vid?

  • yeah, try in google with javimoya/videodownloader

  • @realnaste use real player sp...

  • i love TOOL...EVERY SECOND IN EVERY SONGS ARE SO AWESOME--TOOL IST THE BEST MUSIC

  • You have NO idea how breathtaking that was for me.

    I can't stop crying.

    It was so beautiful.

  • wimp!

  • sensible, is different

  • wow.. you can't stop crying?

  • beautiful.

  • any chance of being able to download all your tool/apc covers on mp3??

  • that was chilling

  • k forma de tokar, las canciones de tool son una maestria y string quartet les da un gran toque, lo cambia radicalmente pero consigue manteren un gran sonido

  • I've been looking for this for so long! Thank you!
