@ZmannR2 i'm looking to buy a new amp, not for gigging just for my room but as my room is basically an extended cupboard, i was just wondering how big this amp is in size as i can't afford to get a huge one unless i plan on sleeping standing up. some measurements would be really appreciated. also how much did one of these babys set ya back?? cheers dude nice vid very informative :)
I think the only thing I like out of this combo is the cab. The head has a lot of neat presets but lacks the tone. I own one, I feel like I shouldnt have wasted the money. Nice for a starter amp, but tube is the way to go.
@hellow504jr Wrong....it's the Spider III....I made this video in '08, the IV didn't even exist yet. Side note, everyone who knows about these will agree, the spider III is superior than the spider IV in case you're looking at buying one.
@ZmannR2 Hey nice set up.! love the III's, question am i able to hook a spider III 120 watt amp to a cab like you've got or do i need to sell the amp and just get the head?
@fucia11 Its actually POSSIBLE to connect a combo to a cab, it just wouldnt sound as good or be as loud as a head. You would have to use the Pod style Line out to the cab.
@ZmannR2 hey im actually looking at buying one, im curious about what makes the spider 3 superior, ive tried this one and i loved it but i havent tried the spider 4 head, i know their differences like the loop fature and all that, just wanna know what makes u say this one is superior, thanks!!
i have a question im getting the hd 150 spider 4 amp soon is it hard to work all the presets and stuff, i love line 6!! also can you play some blues tones through it
nice, how long have you had it and does it start getting almost like distorted or unclean when you get it high enough? cuz im shopping aroung for a nice amp like this, but i want the highest quality and cleanest kind you can get
@LiamUwild Well first of all the head, which is the amp, doesnt contain speakers therefore there are no ohms to measure. The cabinet can be connected in a 4 or 8 ohm configuration.
@LiamUwild mine sais 8 ohms in the right and the same with the left. also found a whitechapel setting on it when i got it. Great amp i would recommend it to anybody!
hi my friend is looking at getting this half stack off of ebay because it's hella cheaper than the spider 4 and basically the same thing with less features. Is it a good amp for hardcore (like Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, etc) and also would you recommend it over other half stacks out there? We're big fans of line 6 but they can make some cheap sounding stuff. and also would this be good for gigging? or just like a practice amp for jams...
I did that too when I got my halfy...you have channels to program your own sound on there or just save whatever preset you like to it...I have the Djent tone on channel A,Nice clean on B(more ambient type of clean,Lead on C, and another(sharper clean)
all you have to do is set the channel volume to where you want on all your set channels...you can even name your own sound...
it was 600 for the cab and the head? ive been looking around for a cheep halfstack with good quality distortion, im real low on budget, and this is looking interesting lol
@crazyd305 You should take a look at the B-52 Ls100 Half Stack I own one and it is awesome for all styles, none of that amp modeling bs, basically its a Tri-channel solidstate 100 watt head and a 4x12 400 watt vented cab. the drive channel is somewhat weak but if you put a pedal in thru the front of the amp on the clean channel it will retain a lot of its warmth and will sound very much like a tube amp, the clean channel on this amp is very very tube like, check it out because it only costs $500
@crazyd305 nice deal, haha Im buying a Peavey 6505+ 112 combo tomorrow and they are even throwing in a free MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive pedal all for $550 caaant wait till tommorrow!!!
its a speaker box,so NO!!you need a way to give the speaker box sound so thats what the head does.when you buy a combo amp,its like the head and speaker is built together. When you buy a stack ,theyre separated.this is one of the crappiest stacks you can currently buy that there is.
if you can afford this,then most definitely buy a "b u g e r a" tube amp :
1960 or 1990 or 333xl in a stack or combo style, for the starting model combo and under $900 for the stack to start with
@Joker5844 if you plan to toggle the presets on the line 6 spider, than no....... if its a multi- effects pedal board and you plan on using those effects, than yes....... if an expression pedal comes with the pedal board, that should be fine as well......
@racke1993bg OK, think about this for a second, can your car speakers play without a stereo? No. The cabinet is simply speakers in a box, nothing to drive them no electronics nothing! Speakers need a POWER SOURCE to put out sound. That's where the amp comes in. An amp can't play without speakers, a speaker can't play without an amp
Hey dude, I have a question. On my Spider IV if you change the amp model it gets super loud. Does it do this on this head? Im trading my combo and some cash for a Spider III stack.
@AaronXStrickland different amp models will have different gains and such but it shouldn't do that, on the saved presets you can adjust the gain level and save it again to make it the right level.
@racke1993bg lol, I still find it funny that people ask this......the top piece is an AMP, the bottom is the SPEAKERS.....there is no speakers in the top
Not bad for a beginner. Your starting off with some equipment that personally I think your not good enough at guitar for yet. Like ESP and line 6 are ok but I think you should've started with like a (beginer) fender, ibanez, or something like that and a way smaller amp than a half cab. (my opinion please don't criticize)
@mickthomsonify Well, that may have been a good point about 3 years ago when I posted this, but guess who's not a beginner anymore and guess who doesn't have to go and buy a new guitar now that that he's better? See it all works out eventually =)
Thanks for the review, I have been considering this amp and cabinet for awhile and I've decided to buy it. Also don't let those people who go on about LTD vs. ESP guitars get to you. There's essentially no difference except the price tag. For anyone that doesn't believe that just look on the back of any LTD guitar headstock and read what it says, or read reviews on LTD's from the dozens of professionals that use LTD's live.
Your videos are brilliant, such great playing. I have already asked about the possibility of using a Line 6 Spider IV 150 head with the Marshall 1912 cabinet, is the Spider IV 150hd compatible? I haven't actually purchased the Line 6 Spider IV head. Do you think I would be better off with the Line 6 147 hd, can you get a foot controller for the Line 6 147 hd, would the Marshall 1912 be better suited with the Line 6 147hd? Please I'm desperate for help, any help greatly appreciated
damnnnn dude that is an awesome setup for a beginner all i had was a squier and the small 15 watt amp that came with it XD rock out man and stick with it
Dude, its a pretty cool amp.. but they frekin blow out really easy if you play shows, or practice frequently when the volume.. mine and three of my friends has all blown.. its some bull!!
@raven14873 line 6 tubes aren't really that great. i think their solid states actually better tonally. idk, i think line 6 adds too many "features" and things that affect tone, i like having a pure guitar sound without any of that mess and then tweaking it from there.
i have a question man, have you tried playing with this amp with a band yet. cuz i just picked one up, fell in love with it in my when i played it in my room. but when i took it to band practice, and turned up the volume it sounded like a piece of garbage. i turned the volume nob to have of its full capacity and it sounded very empty, crappy, and even sounded like the speaker inside was popped, have you had this problem at all?
You shouldn't tell people that you have an ESP when you have an LTD. LTD's are assembled on a production line in Korea or Indonesia while the ESP's are hand built in Japan.
Look in the video description. I put ESP LTD. Because that's what it is, and ESP LTD EC500. Get off your high horse, all the hardware in the guitar is identical to the ESP Eclipse.
thanks to this review, i have decided to get this amp, as i am starting to do gigs with my band i need to upgrade from my line 6 spider II 75w so this should be a vast improvment. thanks
Thanks man, enjoyed the video . Its a pleasure to see an independent point of view. I'm just learning ( not as good as you ) but I hate the neighbours so I've got to get me one of those. It should give them something to moan about, at least then they can hear my bad playing!!!
I find it funny how many people don't understand this......think of a system in a car. The amp under your seat is the top part of the stack, its just and amp thats all no speakers.....the bottom part is the speaker cabinet...it prduces the sound.....got it?
you're used to seeing combo amps where an amp and speakers are all in one box
We play shows with this exact amp and it sounds great. never had any comments from other groups we played with except how good it sounded especially for what we paid for them.
Most complaints are from people who don't know how to dial in the settings, or simply don't know what they are talking about (noobs).
ive been playing for almost two years and i went to a guitar store today and one of the guys there showed me a spider lV are those any good? if not what should i get instead ( i want an amp that can get real loud and lasts a long time)
If your into Metal (exclusively) get a Bugera 6262
If your into Metal and other genres too, get the Bugera 333xl.
In my opinion the Bugera 333xl is the best amp for the money. It will last alot longer than the Spider, and it has tubes in it, something the spider doesnt. To be honest if you did buy the spider youd be regretting the purchase months later after getting sick of the digital crappyness. Just my opinion though.
@shelbayy050 it depends on how much money you are willing to spend. the line 6s are the best low priced amps. Marshalls are really good mid-priced amps. they can range from 300 to 2500. (only some heads are 2500). If you are willing to spend a lot, check out Mesa. they make probably the best all around amp.
i just bought a spider IV 150 half stack and i love it, for 700 bucks it's a great built amp with great tones. buy the xtra warranty with it though, 70 bucks xtra, covers it for 2 years
Dude, that spider 3 is definitely not going to do your EC-500 any justice. You really should not have gotten that spider. At 650, you could have gotten an amazing combo tube amp
you should play at one in a store or something. the sound of camera is just crappy. I've played the combo spider 3 150 with a esp EC-500, and it is awsome
hey man I'm just seeking for a head and I think I'm getting this, btw is that a 4x12 cab?? I'm worry because I don't know If a can connect a 2x12 150W amp with this head
i guess i would consider myself an inermidiate player but a crappy inermidatde and i really need a bigger amp like a half stack and i love line 6 would you recommend
heeey man im looking at getting this set up, and i want to use it for playing gigs live with my band would it be able to go loud enough without blowing the amp because my drummers kit is loud LOL
so....this head hasn't any tubes right?

Thanks man, enjoyed the video . Its a pleasure to see an independent point of view. I'm just learning ( not as good as you ) but I hate the neighbours so I've got to get me one of those. It should give them something to moan about, at least then they can hear my bad playing!!!

i dont understand cabinets lol do they just amplify your amp more (louder hehe)? can i stick my pod2.0 in a cabinet without having an amp?
bobsywobsy 2 years ago
I find it funny how many people don't understand this......think of a system in a car. The amp under your seat is the top part of the stack, its just and amp thats all no speakers.....the bottom part is the speaker cabinet...it prduces the sound.....got it?
you're used to seeing combo amps where an amp and speakers are all in one box
ZmannR2 2 years ago
i found a used one for 375. should i snag it?
DimeTime924 2 years ago
i think you can get them cheaper brand new
shakeshaftthomas 2 years ago

in your opinion....
We play shows with this exact amp and it sounds great. never had any comments from other groups we played with except how good it sounded especially for what we paid for them.
Most complaints are from people who don't know how to dial in the settings, or simply don't know what they are talking about (noobs).

ive been playing for almost two years and i went to a guitar store today and one of the guys there showed me a spider lV are those any good? if not what should i get instead ( i want an amp that can get real loud and lasts a long time)
shelbayy050 2 years ago
Fender? Marshall?
pfxnbk 2 years ago
@shelbayy050
If your into blues, go for a Bugera V55
If your into Metal (exclusively) get a Bugera 6262
If your into Metal and other genres too, get the Bugera 333xl.
In my opinion the Bugera 333xl is the best amp for the money. It will last alot longer than the Spider, and it has tubes in it, something the spider doesnt. To be honest if you did buy the spider youd be regretting the purchase months later after getting sick of the digital crappyness. Just my opinion though.
titanwar990 2 years ago
@shelbayy050 it depends on how much money you are willing to spend. the line 6s are the best low priced amps. Marshalls are really good mid-priced amps. they can range from 300 to 2500. (only some heads are 2500). If you are willing to spend a lot, check out Mesa. they make probably the best all around amp.

i just bought a spider IV 150 half stack and i love it, for 700 bucks it's a great built amp with great tones. buy the xtra warranty with it though, 70 bucks xtra, covers it for 2 years
tribeofthetrees 2 years ago
not my modified EC 500
and you think it's crap.
I don't.
And I"m all right with that.

TOOL2001 2 years ago
Dude, that spider 3 is definitely not going to do your EC-500 any justice. You really should not have gotten that spider. At 650, you could have gotten an amazing combo tube amp
Heeya13 2 years ago
you should play at one in a store or something. the sound of camera is just crappy. I've played the combo spider 3 150 with a esp EC-500, and it is awsome
beertjerockpiloot 2 years ago
