lol, ready? POST OFF: XBR is sonys top end models now this xbr4 referes to what the manufacture advertises it as. You said KDL, kdl is the beginning of a "model number" in no way does this realate to XBR (unless you look up the television.) yet you didn't stop there, you actually posted the same television. [the kdl-4000 is not even a series] XBR is a series; XBR 4 is the forth to make it to production. I work right above a sony building + im a tech -.- any other comments?

the kdl4000 is what i think he means the m4000 which is actually the entry level tv which you can find at target or wal mart. xbr is top of the line ^_^

i cant wait 1 more month and i'll have my 40" xbr7 i know its last years model but im putting it in my room so i dont mind 8)

The XBR6 offers 50,000 Constrat ratio with 120Hz refresh rate the XBR 8 which is the ultimate but it is very EXPENSIVE and offers 100,000 constart ratio.. the X series is the best in Sony HDTV line.. but if you want the best HDTV then samsung is the answer.. no BTB WTW issues and the image is AMAZING and I would recommend the 52" of the 6 series LN52A650 this baby won the best TV of 2008.

Ur right I forgot the Z series I almost bought it b4 i saw the xbr6. The xbr6 has a 50:000:1 contrast while the Z has a 30,000:1 contrast. In a side by side comparison the xbr was so much clear. All the reviews i have read have stated the xbr is better.

I have 40" w4500. it has 50000:1 contrast ratio and picture quality is very similar to xbr. only the difference nooticible is outer shell design. xbr has nice glass casing.....

i,ve sew this tv on mediamarkt in holland and it does a qood job of reducing the noise from programmes like discoverychannels.

the best feature is that it will upscale and deinterlace pal,ntsc,standard hd and 1080i and even motion images into 1080p.

it also have,s a digital lipsynch and amplifier and even a sound sampler for sound in hicher difinition.

i wonder how my good old game consoles would look like on it.

after having this tv for 1 night ive discovered that watching movies without pressing the theatre button on is just to much. its so bright and clear it was hurting my eyes. also noticeable was that i was only watching normal dvd not bluray and there are lines that appear thru the screen. this is laso noticeable when watching non hd tv channels. but this lcd is basically 10/10
