Insurance companies are being demonized to discredit them and advance a political agenda. Yet profit margin for insurance companies is about 6% (+/-) 2%. that is substantially less than nearly every other industry and certainly not obscene.
Funny thing is i work for an insurance company (pet insurance if you can believe that), i have a RIBO (brokerage) licence and my position is in HR so yets i have an idea of how these things work.
We have a denial rate here, meaning that a % MUST be denied in order to stay competitive regardless if the claim should be paid. Also, medical advances have been happening for 1000s of years without insurance companies being involved so your point is moot.
What many people do not understand is that these profits go twoards research and bettering hospital facilities not the pocket of CEOs. Without said profit many of the medical advances extending our lives from the grip of cancer and heart disease would not be available. This is why American men have a 20% higher rate of survival beyond 5 years when compared to British men. The same is true for women and breast cancer.
As for your stats about the brits, I am quite sure there are some areas where the US may be better off however across the board both the Brits and us Canadians outlive our US counterparts. If they actually based it on quality of health care, we would be number 1. The reason why our average life expectancy is so low is because we have the highest number of deaths due to transportation accidents, obesity, alcoholism, and drug overdose.

No, the point of capitalism is to pay for goods and services that you receive. Health care falls into that category. If I cannot afford health care, then that means that I won't receive it. I own my own business that is doing quite well, so I don't think that I will be out of a job any time soon. If I die, then my life insurance policy will cover all of the costs.

Immunizations aren't free! They are a good that one can purchase if one so chooses. Regarding the abandoned child, that child would then become a ward of the state. Therefore, the state is responsible for that child until he/she reaches the age of 18.
Doctors work their butts off to provide a valuable service to the community. It just so happens that that service is quite expensive. Who is supposed to pay for it, then?

With a public option, the government will successfully eliminate private insurance. Just think, who is paying for the subsidized costs of the public option? Those with private insurance pay an additional 40% tax on their health care premiums. With this many, if not all, will switch to the public option. The hospitals then will not be bringing in as much revenue. Therefore, quality goes down and there are even more job cuts.

I am Canadian and have never waited in massive lines to see my own doctor, one at a hospital or at a local health clinic. I am sure you dont believe me as you have swallowed every single bullshit tale you have ever heard about our system. Apparently death panels exist in Canada, i guess i better tell both of my retired parents or better yet my 94 year old grandmother who is still going pretty good with that hip she got way back in the day. Insurance companies are being demonized to discredit them and advance a political agenda. Yet profit margin for insurance companies is about 6% (+/-) 2%. that is substantially less than nearly every other industry and certainly not obscene.

Funny thing is i work for an insurance company (pet insurance if you can believe that), i have a RIBO (brokerage) licence and my position is in HR so yets i have an idea of how these things work.
We have a denial rate here, meaning that a % MUST be denied in order to stay competitive regardless if the claim should be paid. Also, medical advances have been happening for 1000s of years without insurance companies being involved so your point is moot.

What many people do not understand is that these profits go twoards research and bettering hospital facilities not the pocket of CEOs. Without said profit many of the medical advances extending our lives from the grip of cancer and heart disease would not be available. This is why American men have a 20% higher rate of survival beyond 5 years when compared to British men. The same is true for women and breast cancer.

Your health care system is rated higher than ours only because the WHO only takes into account the average life expectancy for each country. If they actually based it on quality of health care, we would be number 1. The reason why our average life expectancy is so low is because we have the highest number of deaths due to transportation accidents, obesity, alcoholism, and drug overdose.
If you have a certain medical problem, you have more of a chance surviving in the US compared to Canada.

No, the point of capitalism is to pay for goods and services that you receive. Health care falls into that category. If I cannot afford health care, then that means that I won't receive it. I own my own business that is doing quite well, so I don't think that I will be out of a job any time soon. If I die, then my life insurance policy will cover all of the costs.
Drinking, in the US, doesn't affect the quality of health care.

Immunizations aren't free! They are a good that one can purchase if one so chooses. Regarding the abandoned child, that child would then become a ward of the state. Therefore, the state is responsible for that child until he/she reaches the age of 18.
Doctors work their butts off to provide a valuable service to the community. It just so happens that that service is quite expensive. Who is supposed to pay for it, then?

With a public option, the government will successfully eliminate private insurance. Just think, who is paying for the subsidized costs of the public option? Those with private insurance pay an additional 40% tax on their health care premiums. With this many, if not all, will switch to the public option. The hospitals then will not be bringing in as much revenue. Therefore, quality goes down and there are even more job cuts.

Also, the government will take away some freedoms. If I don't want health insurance, too bad I need it or I go to jail. Why should I be told what to buy?
