I use to have this very kit, minus the snare. I bought it in 1973 or '74? I bought it for $50.00. My kit had a 26" kick two front toms an a floor tom. It sounded great!! Boy do I wish I still had it!!!

The toms and the snare sound great, but I'm not a big fan of the bass drum, it needs to be silenced a bit for my taste, but really great and beautiful drums!

all kit is amazing, but i doubt about the bass drum...maybe a 22"x16" would be more balanced with the kit.

You can order a set with a third Tom if you want.  It's just a more classic setup with the two which is why that's what it comes with

Its subjective, but a wide open bass drum like that actually has plenty of low end, however all frequencies in the spectrum are present. This will cut through far better than any muffled kick. All you would hear is sweet low end in the mix of things.
