why should 5 years be any different than 5 days. A state of mind is a state of mind and thats what the Anderson Method is about. It is not a diet but a way of life.
Genius is the gift of becoming conscious of what exists in creation. Everything anyone knows existed before we were born, and if we are lucky, it is revealed to us, as it was to you.
She is welcome to my support, anyone who has lost that amount of weight, whichever way they did it, has my admiration. Her diet may not be for everyone but she's found something she can stick with and that's got to be better than being obese.
I'm not obese, but I do need to lose a stone and even that is very hard. I'll certainly have a look on Facebook. Thanks for posting the video.
Thank you for your support and generous spirit. It is not unusual to discover that even a small weight problem can be very hard to solve. Since weight is a behavioral problem instead of a physical (# of pounds) problem, sometimes people of a relatively normal weight have to do as much as an obese person to solve the problem!
What she is basically doing is a very low calorie diet (VLC...defined as 800 or lower). It's fine as long as you can keep it up. The problem is it's so easy to pile weight back on when using a VLC diet.
Cereal and milk, a frozen meal, and canned veggies, plus pop corn is not a balanced diet. It's missing five-a-day fruit and veg, and enough fibre.
A 5'2' woman of average activity uses about 1600c./day, and needs to eat less than that to lose weight. If she eats more than that, she stores it, and gains. The Anderson Method does not use diets or "maintenance limits", but rather trains people to eat and live healthfully to lose the excess and control their weight.. It advocates never using a VLC diet, under 800c.day.
If you go to The Anderson Method website, you can get the book, and that will answer most of your questions.
Carson specifically says she eats 800 calories five days a week. 800 calories or less constitutes a VLC. 1200 two days a week will not make up for the lose of nutrients - so you may not advocate a calorie controlled diet, but she is certainly using one.
The Anderson Method advocates self control, not diets. Any method that controls eating to reduce energy consumption must reduce the calories eaten, whether or not one is aware of it. It is better to be aware. If you are using the word diet to describe what a person eats, then everyone is always on a diet, be it a weight loss diet or a weight gain diet. Rather than think we are normally out of control or on a diet, it is better to seek being in control all the time, instead of being "on a diet."
Our body's nutrient needs are not on a 24 hour or 7 day clock. If you eat 800 calories one day and 1200 the next, that is, by defintion, not a VLC diet. Consider too, that we approach and approximate goals rather than perform perfectly. Certainly, there are less nutrients in 1000 calories than in more, but one should consult with an RD to insure good nutrition while losing weight. To avoid a loss of nutrients today that are essential long term, but stay overweight, is not healthy or acceptable.
