  • Eight years of Ronald Reagan and ten years of Margaret Thatcher. Hard not to be nostalgic. And should anyone ask, yes, Siobhan Fahey is God.

  • I THINK ONE OF THE G IRLS IS FROM COUNTY BLAW CLEE IN SOUTHERN IRELAND.

    IS HER NAME SHIVVAWN FAHHIE?

  • things were simple then.........i miss the 80's...

  • cool :D:D:D i love 80s

  • WHAT A LOAD OF SHITE. JOIN WhatWentWrong IF YOU WANT TO TAKE THIS CRAP OUT OF OUR WORLD.

  • 3 babys one puppet

  • 80s slutty girls were great, damn feminism.

  • Love the cut-out waves!

  • Banarama were great! 3 gorgeous, natural English roses with that "girl next door" look about them and they had some great catchy tunes like this one! They sang on the Band Aid single so they'll go down in music history! Good for you girls!

  • them chicks were so frickin hot!!!!!!

  • Big hair , big bush :)

  • Fraternity Vacation!!!

  • @JoseTwitterFan Oh, could you people stop junking up vids Can we enjoy our gens music without that junk ?

  • @JoseTwitterFan make that...22 bieber asslicking girls

  • Great tune, alot better than I Can't Help It, can't stand the production in that song. Very fake and Rick Astley sounding, early to mid 80's music was far better sounding music than late 80's in my opinion.

  • Get the audio from this clip at tubepull doht cohm.

  • Aw, I was in love with Sara for years.

  • Haha! Siobhan's sister is the one who took him at the end. She is also Eileen in "Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners. Wait let me do some research. I'm pretty sure though.

  • "one thing i'm always dreamin' of....i'm gonna squeeze and hold him tight!"

  • that shy boy (terry sharpe) went on to be in a brilliant band called the adventures. if you have not heard them...check em out.

  • hey i want that shy boy :P

  • I love this video... they look so very happy.... I love them all....

  • These girls couldn't sing or dance to save themselves, but I loved them nevertheless and this is a dream of a record by Jolly and Swain and the girls. I went off them when they (apparently) got singing lessons and went over to Stock, Aitken and Waterman. It just wasn't the same anymore.

  • this video is coming from a direct copy of avhs from mtv 1982. look at the song title. its the way mtv use to look. good sound too

  • Keren Woodward. Mmmmmmm

  • @cgleonard exactly- my fave one as well

  • blue jeans..check

    whit t-shirt...check

    leather jacket...check

    2 pounds of makeup...check

  • @bettydaw1970 lmao!

  • This is kids stuff compared to the violent chick in Maroon 5's Misery video.BONER!!!!

  • i the blue cow always steals em.

  • I love pre-Stock Aiken Waterman Bananarama!

  • Always liked their songs in a cheesey sort of way, hard to believe this is 28 years old.

  • they basically just gobbed him with a little too much makeup for a guy lol

  • The great thing about the 80es was that girls finally could put on leisure clothes and act funny in their vids.

Nowadays we are back to deeply cut tight dresses & pumps and it's all about looking sexy.

It seems no female singer of this millnium has any selfesteem left compared to those 80es fun-having tomboy girls

  • Ah,if only real life was like this video...

  • Spice girls are just a big advertisement, Banana girls are far better

  • I wish the girls would wash my hair like that but I haven't got that much hair left :(

  • @beepollen1 your a right laugh young beepollen, loved the video to this classic

never seen it before...the good days... hugzzzzzzzzzzz 2 ya m8.....

  • Apparently over a period of three weeks as depicted in the video the girls don't change their clothes.

  • Still sounds great after nearly 30 years

  • They should remake this video with me cast as the shy boy but featuring much harsher violence and female domination.

  • Still sounds great after nearly 30 years!

  • I would have paid money to be the Shy Boy in the video.Getting beaten up by three beautiful ladies is a fantasy. He's one lucky dude.

  • This lucky guy was even luckier at that time, because it was Terry Sharpe of The Adventures....and he was Sara Dallin's (the pretty blond one) boyfriend back then ;)

  • 1:44 (!)

  • Loved that song when I first heard it on September,1982 and later the video. One of my faves

  • I have this on a NewWave video comp. I always thought the video had S/M undertones the way they dominate the poor guy. =) but 3 hawt grrlz helps!=P

  • looooooooooooooool

  • he looked good at the end lol xD but yeah they all look so young and beautiful in this video, i wish 80's music was back in style x[

  • @misterfreehugs As long as it's in your life, it'll always be in style.

  • @misterfreehugs

80's music is absolutely amazing! my favourite :$ i love the 80's!

  • @misterfreehugs im 13 and it is for me

  • @misterfreehugs What you can see for couple of years, it is.

  • Amazing, it still has audio! So why is Cruel Summer such a big hit that its audio is blocked but not other Bananarama songs? WMG sucks!

  • Bananarama sold more records than anyother girl group ever ! great memories

  • Absolutely. They created a warm feeling. Talent needs recognising and they are owed. Happy days :D

  • Madonnas favourite Banana track, i love it too

  • The Spice Girls actually stole that accolade.

    I prefer the Bananas myself.

  • I was watching the morning news on the BBC one morning recently , and the two members of Bananarama were on (they said the other girl left the group about 20 yrs ago ) and they said they have just done a new CD , and the news presenter said the Bananas still hold the record for selling more disc's or having more number 1 s. Maybe the newscaster had it wrong ....but it might of felt like the Spice girls had more number 1s because they were always rammed down our throats by the TV

  • O.K. I have the definitive answer according to the Guinness book of records.

The Spice girls are No.1 with 60 million albums sold.

Destiny's Child are second with 50 million.

TLC are third with 45 million.

And in 4th are Bananarama with 40 million, well clear of 5th who are SWV with 27 million.

As Bananarama are still active maybe there is time for them to catch up.

  • Bueno el dato, pero los artistas de los 80',no contaban con el marketin que hay ahora,,sus discos se vendian porque eran oidos y no que te terminaran de gustar por tanto marketin, que es lo que pasa hoy en dia.

  • That is possibly true. There wasn't the instant global recognition that there is today. People had to rely on good old fashioned billboard adverts and magazines.

It's a lot easier to get noticed today what with the good ol' internet.

  • I searched for this video for days. I could remember the song but not the artists name. It was worth the search. One of my favorite 80's videos. : )

  • great song and vid but i'm glad they disbanded cause one of them went into shakespeares sister and that music is classic fantastic I luv stay with me

  • Stay was a great track I agree, ( did you see French & Saunders parody of stay ........I still think it's a funny ! ) But didn't Shakespeares sister disband after a couple of records ?

  • The 80's ROCK!

  • I don't know why you tracked another song under the one you posted, but it's annoying & ruins the Bananarama song.

  • they are so pretty :DD

    the song is very good.

  • Ahhh the 80s! I wanted to be in Bananarama when i was young. They were sooooo kool back then. Messy Hair moccasins, brilliant lovely pop tunes. I still want to be in Bananarama

  • never noticed how sexy these three females were.

  • I did. Always liked this group.

  • Can't believe this pop gem only got to #83 here in the US, we had such a lame sense of pop radio for the most part

  • Oh great - now I'm 19 again dancing around in the living room while my mum looks on thinking - what the hell?!?! Great stuff - thanks ; )

  • the lad in the video was sarah's boyfriend at the time, this is gas, thanks a million for posting...cheers!!!!!

  • i just found out that was Craig Ferguson - he was 20 at the time!

  • They're pretty rough on the poor guy!

  • REALLY? I always thought it looked like a young Gavin Rossdale. Thanks for clearing that up...now I have to watch the video again..

  • the lovelyest music video ever!!!

  • OMG, its impossible to watch this video

and not crack a smile! They were

so cute! LOL at the ending! ;^)

  • I swear they were going to cut him! LOL!!!

  • i grew up in germany, and bananarama were the it in nightclubs, luckly drinking age was 16 in germany, i was a military brat in heidelberg, and love them more than madonna, so did the germans, memories from the late 80]s

  • hmmmm fucking hell this songs on alright!!!!!!!!!! i guess the CCP (Copyright Cunt Patrol) forgot about this but still managed to block out cruel summer, daft cunts, kiss my shitty hairy ass dickheads!!!!

  • It's well know that madonna copied their style, she admited that their image was great. Just think madonna in into the groove totally bananarama!!!

  • @facefavour

madonna was absolutely amazing! so was bananarama, but i don't think madonna copied them :$...

  • @facefavour i dont think so ............

  • @facefavour She made made it sluttier though .

  • wonder what they look like now...

  • Siobhan Fahey, the 'nana at 0:30, in 2005:

    watch?v=6Ilt-XE37uA&feature=related&fmt=18

Karen, Sara, and Siobhan in a 1999 documentary:

    watch?v=PlVAX7VeFGc&feature=channel_page

  • I used to really fancy Siobhan Farley when I was a young kid....I'm always trying to get my girlfriend to get some dungarees and push her hair over her eyes lol.

  • I am a 80's refugee, bring on the good stuff

  • the 80's clothes are so cute

  • loved every second of the clothing, wish it could be bought back

  • lol same here. even though the 80's style isn't really in right now i been dressing like the 1983-85 madonna since 2007. i even had a girl copying me to for about 1 day :P

  • What a dork! He is holding Siobhan and leaves her for that other woman. The man is an idiot!

  • This makes me feel good -- shoop, shoop aaaah aaaah!

  • "Who is the secretary in the Shy Boy video?"

    (thud)

  • I love Bananarama.

  • mi abuela no sabia que era cantante ...

  • 2:49 Dracula has rosy cheeks lol

  • I love old videos - the makeup was horrendously white and the tall blonde (not Sarah or Siobhan) was soooo off beat they had to try and hide it. HILARIOUS!!!!

  • wiggity wiggity wack y'all

    A yes yesss y'all

This is straight up pop fizzle whack ya'll

    Uhuh!

  • Siobhan is so freakin' cute I can't stand it!

  • great song...smokin beat, i like how they used to incorporate that motown sound with the whole 80's sound..fatness

  • I love Bananarama, especially Siobhan! Shakespears Sister rocks!

  • This version is different to the one released in Australia, it was obviously remixed for the Amercian market?

  • he use to be a shy, until I made him my boy!!

  • their best alabum was "pop life"

  • I can't help thinking that Dawn French is going to appear at some point! LOL!!

  • According to IMDB, the guy is Craig Ferguson. But... it doesn't really look like him, at all. He probably looked much different in the 80's, but still. Someone said earlier it was Terry Sharpe.

Can anyone find out for sure?

  • It's Terry Sharpe, I recognized him from the Adventures.

  • Whoever it is, he is very cute! I want him!

  • tommy sure did mke me feel good.......but why does tommy have on make up?!

  • y does tommy have on make up

  • las amo bananarama... from mexico.

  • no crees ke se parecen mucho a las flans?

pense ke eran mas como las bangles, pero ahora las veo mas parecidas, me gustan los dos grupos, es mas las vere pronto eso espero

vienen a Cork city de donde es al fmailia de Sarah

  • 4th week: how silly.

  • I heard this in supermarket the other day and just had to hear it again thanks :)

  • I was 10 years old by the way so give leniency. I'm now 35 and married, and hopefully more sensible!

  • Tommy make you feel good!

he he, cracks me up, thats wat i thought it said

  • who cares? most people love the 80's anyway even the ones that sometimes make fun of it.

  • I'm too young to actually remember the 80's as the first year that I can really remember is 1990, but I love the 80's it seemed like a much better time than today, of course there were problems, but I'm sure not like it is now.....BTW for you guys that are bashing the 80's, why are you even looking at this video?

  • someone said that the night before this video was shot Sara got a pint of beer in her hair after getting into a fight with another girl down the pub, lol.

  • no internet. no cellphones. no cable TV until mid/late 80s. no gang warfare. America was back on top ofthe world recovered from the vietnam era and the opec/gas crisis of the 70s. The 80s was a care free utopia in USA as is evident by the prevailing music and clothing style of the times. Silly innocent foofoo nonsense. People had not a care in the world. I wish it could be the eighties again and forever.

  • What? Gang activity saw unprecedented growth during the 1980s with the introduction of crack. America was still agonizing over its Vietnam experience with Rambo, "Platoon" and thousands of other B Movies set in Vietnam. People had not a care? The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists advanced the hands of the atomic clock from 7 minutes to midnight to 5, and then 3 minutes with multiple superpower skirmishes from Afghanistan to Nicaragua.

The past we love best is the one that never happened.

  • I remember the '80s. I remember a whole lot of serious shit going down. I also remember a lot of really good and fun things happening as well. Every decade, every era has it's upside and negatives. This video represents a happier moment during the '80s. How anyone equates that with war, famine, politics, etc. is beyond me.

  • Rainman - you've clearly missed the first part of the conversation. Someone was mkaing the ridiculous claim that there were no wars, terrorism, or suffering in the 80s. Considering he was under the age of 10 during that period, it's not surprising he has a rose-tinted view of the decade. My comments are not related to this music video. They're a response to azarazar and his wild imagination.

  • O.K., my bad. :-) I should've scrolled back to the beginning of the comments.

  • Back when music could be light and fun.

  • wha ha ha the end is very funny

  • Oh, weren't they adoreable :)

  • Try looking for the song TIMIDO by the group FLANS, a mexican version of Bananarama.

  • Ah the early Nana's!!

  • I remember this, I still love bananarama, This song was on a movie soundtrack called fraternity vacation. Betcha didn't know that.

  • The Bananarama girls were all adorable--fun music too, of course-- but Keren Woodward (the redhead) was HOT!

  • still is!

  • Nah, its no good when older women try to look like the young girls of today. Like Madonna. Uh uh. Keren Woodward in the 80s is when she looked her best.

  • What the world need desperately right now is the 80s. Today's world is radically different from the 80s, terrorism, violence, crime, wars, these things were non-existent or not prevalent in the 80s, but good music like that was. Wow I miss the 80s...

  • azara - You've got a very short memory. The 1980s wasn't just a shallow, materialistic pop music trip. There was terrorism, violence, crime and wars in the 1980s. Have you forgotten the Cold War, the Communist Bloc, the IRA, the war in Afghanistan, and countless others? You must have been living in a bubble.

  • The things you mentioned were in background in the 80s and musical culture overshadowed everything else. Wars and terrorism still existed in the 80s but were very limited, not like these days when you feel like wars and terrorism is being shoved down your throat to swallow; these things overshadows musical culture now a days, not to mention music itself is crap compared to the 80s.

    Thank you very much.

  • Everything was fine in the 80s. There was Disco, then there was POP, not like today's POP, THE POP. There was less population in the 80s, everything was slow, now it feels like time is flying pass all around us, we don't even get the time to enjoy the things that we like to do. Like I said, these problems didn't exist in the 80. In this particular decade, all we have is violence everywhere and "War On Terrorism".

  • That was the beauty of 80s pop culture, not everything had to be real or had to had connections with real world politics to be enjoyable. If reality of the world defines what should be enjoyable, then the most beautiful tune doesn't comes out of a violen or a guitar or a piano, but instad an AK-47.

    Thank you for your comments.

  • You obviously are too young to remember what it was like to live in the Reagan-Thatcher era! Early '80s? Worst economic downturn since the depression; double digit unemployment in the US. 1987: biggest stockmarket crash since 1929. Secret wars by the CIA in Nicaragua, Guatamala and countless other Latin American countries. US support for brutal dictatorships in the name of the Anti-communism. Bombings of US airplanes (Lockerby Scotland, anyone??) Terrorism all over Europe by the Red Army Faction

  • asy4 - Too right. Some people only see the world through MTV.

  • Exactly. Of course, I would recommend they check out David Bowie's video of "Fashion," which not so subtly compares Thatcherite England with a Fascist state. Some artists manage to make even MTV politically relevant -- though not many of them!

  • Man, what a buzzkill. It's a music video. Chill.

  • @azarazar007 I remember people saying the same thing back in the 80's, how they could go back to the 50's and 60's. The song remains the same, dude. Just different eras.

  • Midge Ure directed this? I never knew that and im pretty good at knowing redundant facts lol. My favorite Bananarama track (I know its a cover before anyone says it). I love how like the Go Gos they were a pop band with punk credentials.

  • This wasn't a cover. It was written by Jolly & Swain for Bananarama

  • According to IMDB, the cute guy is supposedly a very, very young Craig Ferguson. But they've been known to be wrong before.

  • I recognize that it's him. Wow what a cute guy! God bless the 80's in Britain!

  • As well as High Britain!

  • The cute bloke is Terry Sharpe lead singer of the Adventures. They had few hits like Broken Land and "Send my Heart'

  • Bananarama blijft een leuke meidengroep muziek is wel leuk groetjes liefderijk

  • that soup is disgusting.

  • Thats not soup.

  • My Hubby had a huge crush on these Ladies, I have to agree with him when he says these were real ladies, nothing fake about them, wow times have changed with singers. Bananarama were freakin' legends

  • lahayea - i didnt notice the guy with makeup, so I guess it must just be you wearing it, lol !

  • very funny. get a better pair of eyes.

  • is the dude wearing make-up, or is it just me?

  • I SAW IT!!!!!

  • that was the 80's man!

  • great video clip

  • this cheap-n-cheerful video shoot simply adds to the sheer delight of this piece.......KEREN, especially, in her day, was a sprightly, pert, vivacious, charming, wholesome and attractive young lass.

  • Anyone prefer (like me) their Jolley & Swaine work over the SAW stuff?

  • @rokitunes I'm with you on that one. Not sure which team worked on the second album, but I like that one as well. I love their early 12'' singles especially.

  • Wow, haven't seen this in years. They look so hot!

  • Still love this song even today!

  • If only girls could look like that these days, who knows may'be the big hair and net shirts and bright coloured shirts and 80's makeup style will come back, if the 70's did, then the 80's will
