Chatree Srichon (the singer) is 100% Thai. He lived in Chonburi province (not Surin). He died 20 year ago. This song is old. But I don't know whether it is older than the khmer version. My friend Khmer would know when Sin Sisamuth recorded this song. And, note that at that time most of the producer were in Thailand. This fact may answer the question why Sin sisamuth did not have any copyright on all of his songs.

Just to clarify, most of producers back then were most in France not thai. Plus the concept of copyright didn't really exist in those years. Even now, it remains the same.

I really like the timbre of his voice, even more than Sin Sisamouth's, but I think Sin Sisamouth had better singing technique.
