All human cultures celebrated the winter solstice, which is what came to be Christmas.
It was partially Mediterranean and Northern European. The early catholics allowed the Romans to keep their celebration of the winter solstice and placed Jesus' birthday at that time. In Scandinavia, the vikings celebrated the winter solstice under the name "jul" (Yule in English) - they were allowed to keep their celebration as well. Those two traditions eventually became modern Christmas.
Of course christmas is pagan. Intentions mean little to God, ignorance is no exception when you have bibles in every home. Worshipping Yhwh or Yeshua in ways he tells you not to,doesnt make any sense. Its like picking only sightly-fat kids to make fun of and leaving the obese ones alone... @RamonPreston Jeremiah 10 is not about a Christmas tree but a GRAVEN IMAGE. It is made of wood. The wood comes from the tree. The tree comes from the forest. It is then shaped into an image. Molten gold & / or silver are then poured on it to finish it. That is what Jeremiah 10 speaks of, NOT a Christmas tree. There was no Christmas in those days. Such as buying a one year old a fifty dollar toy while they play with the box. A holiday is not necessary to teach these things. Holidays are examples of excess. And anything in excess is not good. Among them are books about how special Christmastime is precisely because it combines many flavors of pagan, Christian, Judaic and African tradition. @sammyhain13 I must say yes for children that have nothing it is sad when they can't purchase plastic toys to propel them in life. I have been one of those poor children and there was a time when my parents had plenty, but I had more fun when we had nothing because they spent time with us. Poor children wake up Christmas morning with a precious gift given to them by family, community, charity, or parents who have scrimped and saved. That child in that moment joins in the worldwide knowledge that someone somewhere cares for that child and wishes them happiness. That mere material object becomes a symbol of hope and love which stays with that child and gives them hope for a brighter tomorrow.
