wait...if youtube is a 100% free website how can they make them take it down even if it is copywrited...copywriteing is used to keep people from makeing money off other peoples idea...not to stop people from shareing other peoples ideas
Hi! I'm Mary Barones daughter, Emily. My Mom is a secratary for some guy at NP. She thought your video is funny! I guess it is. Anywyas, I do agree that Nixon Peabody was kind of a sore loser. I think it was funny and they should've laughed along. By the way, former NP person, do you work there still? What does former mean? I might know you. Also, iwrubles, don't talk about my mom's law firm that way! I know they were pretty retarded. But still you don't have to be so excited they got mad.
When I say "former" employee, I mean I'm an attorney who worked there in the late 90's and/or early 2000's. I left to pursue a better position elsewhere, but I'd like to think I'm still a winner... ; )
I am a winrar at a rival law firm, and as a litigator, I am delighted by their pain. The takedown notice was (and while I often use this word lightly, here I mean it) retarded. I didn't think partners were even capable of spazzing out that bad.
I am a former NP employee, and their response to the release of this song perfectly characterizes the firm. I have no doubt that the song was done, not in light-hearted fun, but with all seriousness: these folks DO believe they are all winners who deserve to be immortalized with a "cool" song, and are mortified that their overblown pride is now on display. That being said, they are a top-notch law firm with some amazing people. Just don't try to have any fun there!
No, I've never had dealings with NP. I just didn't like how they were handling a minor embarassment. To their credit, once the pushback from the internet started they realized it was hopeless and gave up trying to take the song down.
So, I gotta say this is both hilarious and scary! Also, for the folks at NP (and, to be honest, it's probably just a handful of senior partners who tried to clap down on this song), this shows just astronomically poor judgment and PR accumen (not to mention taste). The song, and the controversy, is making the rounds in the legal community again. Criticism of NP is justly deserved.
I think that's a great song. It's got what the people in the business refer to as a "hook". I'd like to download it and put it on my ipod: it's a good song to spin to. Anyone who doesn't like this song probably doesn't like American Idol (only the greatest show on TV).
Don't know about Nixon Peabody, but I definitely feel like a winner for having clicked on this video. LO-fucking-L. To think, if only they had a tiny sense of humor (or an ounce of musical taste), I would have been denied the beautiful schadenfreude of this moment. Thank you, O ye gods of deuche!
A PR "non-issue?" When you are being mocked not only by clever bloggers but the New York Times' Business section, that qualifies as an issue. When your existing PR strategy can be glossed as "We're not like those other law firms, we care" these actions seem asinine and hypocritical.
they are a bunch of tightasses...they should have just shrugged it off...but whoever leaked it got them just like they wanted them...i would expect lawyers to be smarter than that...
What a crappy firm if they are sending take down notices over their crappy song lol. Nixon Peabody = bunch of uptight losers lol. I cannot believe they actually care so much about this song that they PAID FOR, so as to send a notice to take it down. If I paid money for this horrible song I would distance myself from it. But, I guess I am not a winner like everyone at Nixon Peabody. If I were at Nixon and they made me listen to this song I would quit lol
Those guys should get sued for making that kind of music that can make people mentally ill. Seriously we need to look at how we can sue these cocksuckers. lol

Seems to me Nixon Peabody got superior publicity in major publications by being a bitch.

Do they do IP law? Because after that abusive takedown notice, no copyright law student with a brain is going to want to work there. Just sayin'.

Hmmm....could they have commissioned a song that sounds a little less like "Everyone's a Winner" by Bootsauce?

It is catchy, but then so are diseases.

give me a break, are you trying to get someone fired? This isn't that big of a deal, people talking about a 'youtube moment'. PR non-issue.

Biglaw theme song = EPIC FAIL. This is truly horrible, one of the ugliest aspects of the American legal system which ever saw the light of day.
