That is a huge difference. In the US agriculture requires massive amounts of pesticides, chemicals and preservatives because the food has to be shipped thousands of miles to the cities. American style factory farming is pure garbage.
new zealand has just elected a government who doesnt beleave in climate change i would urge all consumers in europe and the united states to boycott all food products from new zealand due to carbon miles and the right wing greed merchants we have elected.
you are so lucky to have an intelligent government, at least you will have farmers who will be able to remain in business and help feed us in Australia when our farmers are put out of business by our carbon trading scheme.
Actually, organic farming can match modern food production methods. The Rodale Institute has studied it for years and organic farming is actually better---less inputs.
This is touchy-feely nonsense which not only fails to indicate why organic farming is needed, to reduce the use of fossil fuels in agrichemical manufacture, but promotes the scientifically unfounded notion that organic produce is healthier. Pesticides, etc, probably are unhealthy IMO, but that's not proven otherwise they wouldn't be, uh, EU approved. Further evidence welcome :-)
I am actually suprised is this a video to promote more organic farming or does it say that EU countries are already doing organic farming? As far as I know Bosnia and Albania are the only nations in Europe that do complete organic farming, while all EU countries for the most part rely genetics.
Farming is always good.

Average farm in EU is 11.5 hectares
Average farm in US is 1000 - 10,000 hectares

Yes just what we need in a time of food scarity and global famine, a taxpayer funded scheme to support decreased food production methods. Excellent.
