There were fingerprints on the shotgun, 4 cards of latent prints were pulled from it, to be exact. They were "not of comparison value", or "illegible", according to the SPD. The cops probably fucked the prints up when they pried the gun from Kurt's hand (his left hand was locked in a cadaveric spasm around the barrel). They also moved his suicide note, and the pen stuck into it, to better photograph them. Doesn't necessarily mean that someone intentionally wiped the prints off everything.

@avidalocan I see this "toe theory" posted everywhere. The barrel of the gun was 22 inches long. The trigger is a few inches beyond that. Kurt stood about 5'7" or 5'8", due to his scoliosis. The wound that killed him was a contact perforating wound to the back of the hard pallet, which means that at least a couple inches of the barrel was in his mouth and touching the roof of it. Seems likely a man of Kurt's height could stretch & reach 2 feet in front of his face, don't u think?

"3x lethal" is relative terminology...what kills one person may only get another person buzzed, right? And besides, morphine stays in the system for 3 days, so couldn't the level that was reported be indicative of all the dope that Kurt shot up over the period of time he was alone in Seattle? I'm not trying to be a prick, I just think there's room for debate here.

I also think that the lack of legible finger print evidence is largely due to the officers' mishandling of the physical evidence, i.e. when they pried the shotgun from Kurt's left hand, & when the 1st officer @ the scene moved the note w/ the pen stabbed into it from its original position on a counter top to the planter box to better photograph it.
@saffiregoddess But, the note was examined by a forensic document analyst w/ the Wash. State Crime Lab & she determined it to be 100% Kurt's handwriting, and that verdict wasn't handed down til just about 2 weeks after the body was found. Also, Hartshorne diagnosed the condition of instantaneous rigor of Kurt's left around the barrel of the gun, which gave him a sound forensic reason to believe that Kurt had been alive and squeezing the gun in a manner consistent w/ suicide when he was shot.

His body, the greenhouse, the shotgun...all gone forever. I've read that Courtney still has the suicide note, though. Charles Cross said he held it in his hands when he was researching Cobain Unseen. I dunno, I'm skeptical of the case ever being reopened. I think it is what it is.

There were fingerprints on the shotgun, 4 cards of latent prints were pulled from it, to be exact. They were "not of comparison value", or "illegible", according to the SPD. The cops probably fucked the prints up when they pried the gun from Kurt's hand (his left hand was locked in a cadaveric spasm around the barrel). They also moved his suicide note, and the pen stuck into it, to better photograph them. Doesn't necessarily mean that someone intentionally wiped the prints off everything.

The only pain heroin remedies is the withdrawal symptoms associated with not having used heroin over a certain time period when you are addicted. I believe you are thinking of marijuana. @avidalocan I see this "toe theory" posted everywhere. The barrel of the gun was 22 inches long. The trigger is a few inches beyond that. Kurt stood about 5'7" or 5'8", due to his scoliosis. The wound that killed him was a contact perforating wound to the back of the hard pallet, which means that at least a couple inches of the barrel was in his mouth and touching the roof of it. Seems likely a man of Kurt's height could stretch & reach 2 feet in front of his face, don't u think?

"3x lethal" is relative terminology...what kills one person may only get another person buzzed, right? And besides, morphine stays in the system for 3 days, so couldn't the level that was reported be indicative of all the dope that Kurt shot up over the period of time he was alone in Seattle? I'm not trying to be a prick, I just think there's room for debate here.

I also think that the lack of legible finger print evidence is largely due to the officers' mishandling of the physical evidence, i.e. when they pried the shotgun from Kurt's left hand, & when the 1st officer @ the scene moved the note w/ the pen stabbed into it from its original position on a counter top to the planter box to better photograph it.

State Crime Lab & she determined it to be 100% Kurt's handwriting, and that verdict wasn't handed down til just about 2 weeks after the body was found. Also, Hartshorne diagnosed the condition of instantaneous rigor of Kurt's left around the barrel of the gun, which gave him a sound forensic reason to believe that Kurt had been alive and squeezing the gun in a manner consistent w/ suicide when he was shot.

I dunno, I'm skeptical of the case ever being reopened. I think it is what it is.

As for no fingerprints....nothing unusal about this, check out my "Fingerprints" video taken from the Conrad Murray trial. 3 days in a humid greenhouse environment is almost guarenteed to ruin any chances of getting identifiable prints.

Meaning that not all the heroin had to be taken in one go. The second injection could have been done many hours after the initial effects of the first one had worn off.

He later was prescribed a non-opiate for his stomach and it made a big difference in his mental outlook, that and the arrival of his baby daughter whom he adored more than anything. I can believe he paid someone to do it because he admited he was scared to do it himself. but when he went missing from rehab, nobody knew where he was at, murder doesnt add up.

Courtney insisted he go to rehab though evidence indicates he was off drugs at the time. She did it to set up a reason for the so-called suicide, a supposed out of control drug habit, in reality to cover up her murder of him. People might suspect something if they knew he was not addicted at the time.

No prints on the shotgun, 3 times the LETHAL (even for a junkie) dose of heroin in his system, the door was locked from the outside, the shotgun shell was on the right of his body even though the shell should have been on the left given the way he "killed himself". In the weeks before his suicide, he is also noted to have had a lifted morale and he was starting to feel better. Why would he do it?
The evidence is clear, dammit...

I mean, I know he cared about his fans, but talking to your fans for the majority of the letter & explaining to them "why" you did this, & leaving your child the last few lines to remember you by just doesn't seem logical. I want the case reopened too, but what could they really find out at this point? Love had the gun destroyed, the greenhouse he died in destroyed, she had him cremated, she burnt one of his "suicide letters" etc. Most of the damning evidence is gone now. And hell its been what? 16 yrs? He definetly deserves another investigation but with so many key factors missing, I don't know how they could do it
