@gtabigfan34 it should work. but be sure to instal .NET 3.5 (or was it 3.0 ?). that used to cause problems. as long as you instal all patches (i think that there are 5 or 6 of them),and update drivers for graphic,you shouldn't run into any serious problem (except missing textures (not enough of ram) and low framerates (weak gpu))...

1. Go into the GTA 4 folder and locate "LaunchGTAIV"

2. Right click and select "Properties"

3. Select the "Compatibility" tab

4. Under "Compatibility mode", click the box to check off "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

Hvala! Vidim da je pitanje već postavljeno, radi li i na x64?

Maeni treba zbog instalacije Sony Vegas 10 koji traži SP3 a Windowsi x64 nemaju SP3.

@HDVideoArt nemam nikakva iskustva sa 64 bitnim XP-om,pa mogu samo da nagadjam. ako mozes da nadjes kljuc koji trebas da izmenis,pokusaj pa sta bude (ali obavezno napravi backup). u principu to nebi trebalo da napravi neki haos ako ne radi kako teba,ali odluka je ipak na tebi. kako sam procitao na net-u,SP2 za x64 je ekvivalentan sp3 za x32 (x64 koristi SP2 (izasao negde polovinom 2007god) za win server 2003).kao sto sam vec rekao,ovaj hack prolazi kod igara koje realno ne trebaju SP3.

@HDVideoArt jos nesto da dodam (ostao sam bez slova :-) ).ukoliko redovno updateujes win,ovaj hack bi trebao da prodje.mada mi nije jasno zbog cega vegas trazi sp3 za sistem koji to nema ??? verovatno konta da je x32 win...btw,dali je vegas 32 ili 64 instalacija ?

@MrKostale ovo samo resava problem oko verzije servis pack-a,i nista drugo (koliko sam primetio).ako odredjena igra trazi sp3,a instaliran je sp2,onda ovo moze da upali (ukoliko sp3 nije stvarno potreban,vec cisto force upgrade fora).primetio sam da ova fora moze jos kod nekih igara da upali.ali to mi vise nije bitno,jer instaliram win sa integrisanim sp3.

if i put aside doubt that it actuall does something,the whole thing seems pointless (unless you do it for fun).

gta iv was released 6-7 months before retail win7,and it doesn't require any SP for it.there isn't any SP for win7 yet (except beta).

the title of video clip says WIN XP SP2 to SP3,because GTA IV requires SP3 for XP (and SP1 for Vista).

so it should work in win7 without any reg tweak.

only problem that was frequently ocurring in the begining was .net framework version (required update).

this is not real sp3 u dumb shit....sp2 changes and writes new codes onto the files system....windows "THINKS" that it is running sp2 but behind the files, sp2 still exists there for gta iv "thinks" that u have sp3.....

yes you can,just change value in registry to one before modifying.

try instaling patches (if you haven't already),they add some new graphic options (water wuality etc.).

and you can experiment with commandline,you can find list of commands & instructions easily (just google ;-) )

It doesn't become sp3,it's remains sp2 (with all it's features).

Just a little reg tweak,that changes number 2 into 3.

That seems enough to trick the game.

In the end,it ain't that bad idea to instal sp3.

Reinstaling social club only might help,but it's just an idea. Setup for social club is on first dvd i think. Run setup manually,don't start autoplay. But first of all,uninstall social club (just social club,but not the whole game). If something goes wrong,don't blame me :-)

Choose save location,and write name for file (and press save in the end).

It should work for any version...

installed sp3 like you said in your video. I get to the point where the game says to insert disc 2 but when i do that and click ok then my installation programs stops responding(when i press ctrl+alt+delete it says not responding).

Never had similar problem,but i can give you some advices.

First of all,turn off any aplication that might slow down computer (anti-viruses,firewalls etc,but don't forget to turn them on if you go online later).

And if you have 2 dvd drives,try inserting discs in different drives.

It's long shot,but give it try.

I'm not sure i understood you,but i'll try to answer.

If you were getting RMN40 error befor this tweak,then you should be able to play the game.

.NET Framework 3.0 & 3.5 must be instaled too.

I don't think it has to do anything with this tweak.

If you had problems with service pack 3,you would get RMN40 error.

If it runned before tweak,restore backup and install.

Tweak after you instaled game.

Step 1: Run Regedit by Clicking on Start -> Run , type in regedit and press enter

Step 2: Make a backup of your registry (just in case)

Step 3: Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Cur­rentControlSet\Control\Windows­"

Step 4: Modify the value of "CSDVersion" from "0x00000200" (SP2) to the Windows XP SP3 value of "0x00000300"

Step 5: Close registry editor

Step 6: Reboot

Step 7: Start GTA and freakin enjoy it already!
