@AngelofSatire ,I've heard it was licensing issues that made using the original music impossible ,but that could just be a cop-out. In other countries they were uncut and had the OSTs.Tamers was not that bad when it was brought here, in fact I liked the evolution sound ,not the music,because it fit the show. Basically the show in America was the same ,if not for a few minor changes .

The arabic dub is deprived of all female characters which equals huge plot elements missing.

@BigDogLtd ya Arabic dub keeps the songs and everything the way it is, but they ruin shinaks ( digivolving ) u knw that digivolve in arabic dub is calling their brother from the digi-base?! lol, they never showed angewomon full digivolving but they keep the stories as it is that's why arabic dub is a lil bit better i guess, i watched digimon adventure - frontier arabic dubbed and orginal with english subbed + savers and now xros

As for script, I may be biased but I love how Ken/Kaizer quotes the Wizard of Oz AND Days of Our Lives in Episode 8.

The English Digimon is good dialogue wise - however, take this with a grain of salt as since I don't understand Japanese, I only can compare the dialogue through the Eng subtitles in the original. I've been told that subtitles can't fully represent the dialogue as the translation can sometimes be inaccurate.

The original version is really good though. Especially in the music department. That's undeniable...

The biggest problem with the English Digimon's dialogue is not the translated dialogue but the added dialogue. It's an endemic problem in dubs of children shows to include bad puns and inserting voice work over what were originally silences. This sadly tends to hinder the atmosphere that the makers were trying to make.

As for inaccuracy of translation not that much is lost in translation in subbed anime, Japanese wordplay is more often built around the written word over the spoken one.

nintendo is right, if we didnt see original japanese anime, we wouldnt know how much ours suck. at least they had different openings for each season. until english digimon frontier, we had the same breath of crap (digimon, digital monsters, digimon are the champions x2, chaange into digital champions to.....) regardless i have to agree we strawhatcrew, nice name btw, english dubbers make their own stories out of anime (4kids) (someone pours lighter fluid on themself and strikes a match)

I hate folks who complain about English localization. It's no secret that television production companies are made out of idiots who would bastardize a perfectly good franchise in hopes of avoiding parental support groups but for what Saban did wrong, they did right.

The series was still Digimon, all the key ideas we needed to know where clear and we weren't deprived of any important plot elements.

At least it didn't receive the treatment series like Gatchaman, Saint Seiya, and One Piece got.

The only time U.S localization is bad is when you watch one piece(a certain someone missing a cigar and having smoke come out his mouth) or pokemon(one word: donuts)

The question is not whether the dub was good, the question is whether the original was better. It was.

The dub is fine and more than that it was quite accurate plot-wise. Most changes were to names, censorship of violence, and removal of cultural references.

Still The music and voice work weren't nearly as good and some of the name changes are head-scratchers, especially in the dub of Digimon Frontier. Don't even get me started on the hideousness of the layered voices for combined forms.

@ilikenintendo2005 - The only issue I had with teh ENGLISH dub version, was that they freaking changed the opening theme and made it into that typical generic random low key, pop rock version. That alone only made the show a bit meh to listen. The voices are fine, but why take this great, dramatic, epic themed out? They should have just changed the lyrics, this is what defined digimon for me over pokemon. IT WAS ALL TOO EPIC.
