This arrangment took me 4 hrs a day for 3 months to learn. And I still cannot make it sound so soulfull. In fact if I dont play it everyday I have a hard time even making it sound good. I had an easier time learning the version on his instructional video the guitar of chet atkins.Thats why he was known all over the world and I am known all over my guitar room. The Alone record is my favorite Chet record. If Hendrix ever sounded like this I havent heard it.
@daffydoug Gotcha.....thanks, also thanks for posting all the great videos. They don't make music like this anymore. Curious to know where I could possibly find this particular recording, its not on iTunes and I haven't seen it anywhere else
@goonyougoodthing What you stated is true, but this is not the arrangement Chet came up with that simulates cliffs of dover. Check out The Guitar of Chet Atkins video and listen to the other arrangement and you will see what I am talking about.
i heard he wrote this when he was teying to play cliffs of dover by eric johnson (who is awesome btw) i dont understand how that would happen the two songs sound completely different but as an irish musicain im lovin this
@trnharris No, if there is any resemblance (and I'm not saying that there isn't) it would be Hendrix who sounds like Chet but not the other way around ;)

sounds an awful lot like the old gospel song "He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs"

@gotwins25 Same tune. Londonderry Aire and Danny Boy came first. Later they took the tune and gave it gospel lyrics.

@JDGPicker Took me weeks and wore out the needles on several record players to learn the arpeggio part in this arrangement.
