  • go chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!! wow they gave their song to alot of advertisers lol. such an awesome song

  • Is this song in a Coca-Cola advert?

  • Also in the movie The Invisible

  • Clap Frenzy.

  • soooooooooooooooooooooo GOOD :]

  • 15 people don't get it.

  • Best song ever.

  • dem handclaps

  • Best. Song. Everrrrrrr.

  • without their drummer this band would not be as good.

  • @skeptikon1 dude your right man...BSS is one of my favorite bands for that reason. I listen to them on like good runs or bike rides, that steady beat gives me just something to flick my thumb to

  • @skeptikon1 HELL YES man I first realized the drummers skill on their song KC Accidental. Check it out

  • Half Nelson.

  • I've NEVER heard/read about Broken Social scene, ever. Only come across them by chance as their song was being used for a video. Strange, one of the greatest bands i've heard & yet seem to be pretty unknown i.e a music thread on a forum, these won't get a mention. Same with Radiohead.

  • @casper123 Where are you from? These guys have been around for quite a while. I'm surprised they weren't on your radar until recently.

  • @pswhite119 I'm from the U.K. Surprisingly, i'd never heard of them anywhere, even on forums that have regular music discussions. Certainly not on our radio stations either. I first heard BSS when someone used 'Bandwitch' over a video, i loved it. It wasn't until recently that i decided to get the albums.

  • @pswhite119 Also looking at their Wiki, it's clear that from the bad chart listing that the majority of the public have a bad taste in music, BSS was probably out shined by some generic pop bands. It's a shame as you don't get good mainstream music today, ever.

  • I remember the sleepless night when I wearily walked down to my living room, turned on the TV and found that Much Music's The Wedge was airing. That was the first time I listened to this song and the start of my Broken Social Scene obsession.

  • I am in love with this song!!!! XD

  • 15 idiots don't like the video? PUNKS!

  • HALF NELSON

  • Everytime I listen to this song I always think of the movie Half Nelson (because this song played in it. Broken Social Scene were like a character themselves in the movie), which is one of my fave movies by the way, and this is a brilliant song. They're also one of my fave bands also. Love it. I listen to this song everyday.

  • Ûhm_äÑyÖNÊ_wÄÑñÂ_chÄt_wîth_mé_Ï_fèÉl_sò_lOñÊlý_tÕDáÿ

  • @CutaiVelmaaa298 Negative. But this song is awesome I suggest you listen to it again.

  • @88Eoghan Message received. Deploying re-listening.

  • @happytrickyfox Roger that 10-4 return to base.

  • best song ever.

  • the intro sounds like Baby's Clean Conscience by Modest Mouse

  • "Second chances are rare, man. You gotta take advantage of them while you can."

  • Nothing says We're A Canadian Band quite like snow.:) Enjoyed this very much.

  • Coachella !!!

  • does Emily Haines just sing back-ups for the band?

  • @dmansouth she used to be part of the band but then she formed Metric.. I guess she still is part of the band, sort of?

  • i was drunk last night, baked as fuck, starting to get hungover, depressed and nihilistic, and then half nelson came on t.v. I'd seen it before but it's a good movie so i was like w/e i'll watch this until i can fall asleep... forgot that broken social scene did the score for it, and completely rekindled my dormant love affair with this band!

  • COACHELLAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • best song ever.

    last part in lsd

  • KISS YOUR HAND 10 TIMES

    SAY YOUR CRUSH 15 TIMES

    POST TO 2 OTHER VIDEOS

    LOOK AT YOUR HAND

  • Just fell in love with this band after 1 song.

  • @AwkwardCum Me too ! This song led me to them in '07. I heard this song in my fave movie Half/Nelson and was hooked ! (: Now, they are my favorite band !

  • @AwkwardCum

So did I! I was pretty overwhelmed by their music the first time. I am still a huge fan.

  • It was such a privilege to experience my first love, smoke my first joint, graduate high school, get through college and university, and travel across North America while psychically having this album on repeat. As brilliant today as they were in 2002.

  • I hae this on itunes. I could fap to this.

  • @greendaykicksbut1231 fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap dec 10th sound academy

  • Damn, I want this song as my new RINGTONE!

  • Amazing band.

  • BSS you are the best!!!!!! There music brings back so many memories.....

  • The most underrated song by an underrated band.....

They sound so unique and different

their sound is galaxy and universe driven.....Amazing band

  • This song feels like a theme song for my life when i listen to it.

  • this is one of the best songs ive ever heard.. it makes me feel so good

  • I'm from Montreal (Canada). I got arrested in Miami, and was sent to a female prison in Tallahassee (Florida). Tallahassee has a college radio station, and I used to call the station from the prison requesting this exact song. WVFS thought I was crazy, but they played "Stars And Sons" for me every time.

Long live the power of beautiful music.

  • @Sarapuco Why did they think you were crazy? Did the song help you cope with life inside? Why'd you get arrested (if you don't mind me asking)?

  • My highlight of Splendour 2010

  • Best song ever!

  • What a shame 14 people moved their hands and accidently clicked thumbs down :(

  • I just bought my tickets to see them.

& even though it's not until October 7th, I'm getting myself pumped up.

    Brendan Canning, I'm coming. Hah.

  • @03August1991 yeaaaaaaaah! i saw em a few times this summer....i think i've just found out what 'life-changing' means (:

  • @03August1991 haha woah me too

  • @03August1991 I saw them on Nov 4!

  • @demyxiv They're great, huh?

I've seen them this past summer again at this little festival. I didn't have tickets, but it was outdoors & you could hear them blocks away, through out the downtown area. It was like a scene from a movie; a warm summer night with this song quietly playing in the background. fjersnam is right, definitely life changing.

  • @03August1991 Totally. They were my first concert and they opened for The Strokes, so you can imagine. When Emily showed up I almost peed myself. They have such a magical vibe going on, it´s just incredible.

  • @demyxiv ihgertnwybvrjtwe4yh what?

They opened for The Strokes & Emily was there?

    You lucky bastard.

I would give my left boob for that experience.

  • @03August1991 Yeah. And they played like, the BEST of the BEST of their shiz in the BESTEST way. what can I say, the ticket cost me around 70 USA bucks. I also saw Goldfrapp (I knew her there), Toro and Moi, White Lies, and some other artists I didn´t know or care of. BSS and Strokes were the thing. awesome day.

  • @bberwick288 i saw them at Harvest Of Hope in St. Augustine Fl, sorry you missed that D;

  • oh my the music of today we came such along way to have such great music. i feel sorry for the people who are still in love with old school rock and roll. that time has passed.

  • @honkingantalope old school rock and roll was the launching pad and the roots of what we have today. i personally love old school rock and roll, as well as today's music. gotta love the best of both worlds! :)

  • @cherryprincessm yeah but i mean that they only listen to old music because they think it is better then the music of today. so you listen to traditional music kind of like dig a hole in the meadow. and irene goodnight. or johnny cash daddy sang bass and the last gunfighter ballad.

  • seeing them live in a few weeks! cant wait!

  • @vil0001 gow grrreat i can say 'i second that'. :))))

  • @fjersnam at the inMusic festival maybe?

  • @vil0001 croatia..that would be awesome but i'm going to vienna on june 22nd and then to a few cities in the uk. and i'm so excited they play stuff like late nineties....... + shampoo suicide again!

  • @fjersnam yeah theyre gonna be awesome

  • @vil0001 clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap :)) they always are.

  • @vil0001 Do you maybe know if the tickets for the festival can be bought at the day of the concert? I might drop by as well, but its sooo soon, plus next day I have an exam :D but hey it's BSS!

  • @Inaneen I'm not sure, you'll have to check the website, or ask where they sell tickets :)

  • Not one damn tour date in FL.. :c

  • Awesome song and video.

  • These guys are fantastic. Check out the new cd!

  • I wish this video would work, I saw that it almost got an award and wanted to see it ever since

  • cant stop listening to this. these guys have really impressed me

  • the bassline is more like new order, which was probably an influence on interpol aswel, so that's probably where that comparison is coming from.

  • I'm not hearing the Interpol comparison, but this is a good song.

  • @thenameisbond lol ikr this is nothing like interpol. they're both good bands, but different

  • GrEaT BaNd

  • fuck interpol. better than interpol.....don't believe me? see KC accidental.

  • @FallopianY0UTUBE different genres...

  • dunno this doesnt sound like interpol at all,at least to me,maybe the bassline

  • sounds like interpol? you must be kidding me

  • yawn

  • i love half nelson

  • DAT BASS.

  • They remind me so much of Sonic Youth!

  • someone can tell me what this song talk about??

  • This band is fuckin' awesome. Their music is excellent and very honest. They can do no wrong in my eyes.

  • This is one of the best songs of the 00's

  • listen to the band stars! they remind me of this song. Sooo good :D

  • Comment removed

  • Several of the members of Stars also participate in BSS.

  • @ipodguru12

Stars is amazing too. Love them. A bit more mellow maybe?

  • the best song of all times

  • it's in the soudtrack of 'Half Nelson'

  • the drummer is my drum teacher :) x

  • man brendan looks so weird without a beard now

  • agreed

  • could be, there's a lot of indie music in movies.

  • Indeed, it is. =)

  • yes is one of the soundtrack

  • Nice work. keep it up. rgtfdg

  • First time seein the video, first time hearing the band's works. and I'm liking them already! How many albums did they make?

Waitaminute!!! LOVER'S SPIT, one of my fave songs in WICKER PARK's OST! That's why they sound familliar! Thanks for posting this! Now im gonna search for their albums!

  • Such a good song, this cd is definitely reminds me of summertime car rides while heavily intoxicated. Hahaha I love how everyone on youtube cannot just listen to the music and watch the video without generating comments that turn into an entire fucking compare contrast essay against Tokyo Police Club and Dino Jr?

  • So lovely song, especially when it is played in "Half Nelson",that scene was awesome

  • beautiful

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THE WHOLE VIDEO!!!! You rock!

  • fuck yeah, love this!! =]

  • Comment removed

  • Definitely some Dinosaur Jr. infuence, only it's better than anything I've ever heard from Dino Jr. Great riff, and the clapping is icing on the cake. It's the clapping that also takes Tokyo Police Club's "Citizens of Tomorrow" to another level--also a great (and very young) group and song.

  • This song came out before "Citizens of Tomorrow."

  • Comment removed

  • I don't mean this as a compliment or a putdown to the video, but I can't tell if it's quite painfully trendy or just really great, slick video art.

    Great great song, though.

  • just shut up and watch it don't go on about shit!!!

  • Umm, just don't read comments if you don't like it.

  • Watch some of there other videos. Pretty much all of them have some form of creativity and art in them. I wouldent say trendy

  • Comment removed

  • This song is genius.

  • I truly do love 90% of BSS music

  • This song's awesome!

  • just amazing

  • Man. I never dance harder than when I dance to some stars and sons... Well, maybe to almost crimes! MAYBE.

  • LOL XD

  • I didn't insult the band or the video... so I have no clue what you're talking about unless you're referring to my name... and in that case it's your own problem if you believe in a man in the sky... not mine

One could argue that it's stupid to comment to someone who, obviously, does not care if he offends you.

  • this song is amazing, but the video is probably the most impressive thing I've seen in a while

  • @ihatejesus7456 fick you the video goes with the song dumbass

  • Every time I think I couldn't see something more stupid on youtube... people like you guys come along

  • this song warms my heart!!!

    check out half nelson peeps!

    x

  • Best music under weed and a great sound system.

  • disagree ...closer to the sun - Slightly Stoopid

  • Good song, but dude in my friends civic, blasting this on surround sound with 4 people in the car is amazing..

  • You are both wrong. All music sounds good on weed.

  • Even a hammond organ!?

  • like criztina5 said, this is one of my most favorite song as well

  • oh this song is my absolute favorite song ever

[R.I.P. Chris] this song will always remind me of you

  • anyone been to a show on this tour?

  • the song is absolute and beautifully orchestrated

  • Does anyone know the meaning of the intro message: "The Night The Lights Went Out In Ajax"?

  • Apart from it being a reference to The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia, no.

  • i want to hear the song when annie escapes the police will some1 please tell me waht it is? thanx

  • uhm i think you mean weak and powerless by a perfect circle

    hope that helps

  • thank u so much bro...damn i was lookin for it evrywer

  • no idea what this song is about but it kicks ass

  • Very glad I saw Half Nelson b/c not only is it a great movie, but i never would've heard this song

  • somebody that was talking about half nelson pleaaase explain to me what's so good about it, i'm not saying it's a bad movie in anyway, but i didn't really understand it and it was slightly depressing, maybe it's just the arty-ness of it, or maybe cuz i was watching it @ 4 am, but please tell me what you see in that movie (yet again, not saying it's a bad movie by any means)

  • Its a great movie b/c it's about a man who is good at heart and wants to do the right things in life, but struggles to do so b/c he is helplessly addicted to cocaine/crack. This film was not made to make you feel warm and fuzzy it's about real life struggles that people go with addictions go through every day. PS Ryan Gosling is one of the best actors of our generation.

  • thanks, and which other movies is he in?

  • Remember the Titans, The Notebook, The United States of Leland (my favorite of all of his movies), Stay, Fracture, Lars and The Real Girl etc.

  • lars and the real girl is awesome as well

  • i concur with the p.s. statement

  • im happy i heard this band on letterman tonight. it made my day a little better.

  • listen to it and get high with it

  • dont waste your life on that shit.

  • man... that music video is crazy

  • This songs belongs to the Skateboarding Twins, they own it. When I close my eyes all I see is them skateboarding. Awesome song!

  • This is my favorite BSS song. I don't know about & if you want to count Kevin Drew as BSS then I still think it is. Bohdi Sappy Weekend is great.
