Thanks so much for uploading this. The quality of these pictures is absolutely georgeous. I keep looking at it and thinking "is this the real deal?" b/c they're so crisp, and then I see Neil and Buzz and know that it is.

They wouldn't have been able to land even if they had fuel....they weren't trained, there wasn't a landing/guidance trajectory.

@DisappearingBoy2010 They knew how to fly it the LEM, they knew roughly how fast you would have to be going to land safely. I would have tried ;)

@SepradistPhantom Yeah they could have tried, but they would have never made it back alive. Even if they did land on the moon, they weren't equipped to walk on the moon, so they couldn't have left the LEM. And then they didn't have a LOR trajectory, so they wouldn't have been able to rendezvous with the command module. So all I am saying is, fuel isn't the only reason holding them back.

Coming so close to the moon and not landing must of been the most challenging part of the Apollo 10 mission. Gene Cernan eventually topped them all with Apollo 17.

I'm surprised Wernher von Braun isn't examined or featured in this series (I know he passed away). I mean he was very integral not just to the Apollo Missions but all of NASA.

hell, the Saturn V was his design for a heavy lift launch vehicle

@FreedomLiberty21 Do a search on youtube for 'Moon Machines: Saturn V'. That does a pretty good job talking about Wernher as well as the other german rocket scientists who developed the Saturn rockets.
