DAusc90 has a point indiscriminate hate is stupid. To hate without good reason is stupid and bigoted. I hate the organisation that is the "church" of scientology for all the wrong things they do, but I don't care about their beliefs or anyone else's. Why hate someone for simply believing something you think is dumb? Even if their belief results in acts detrimental to others now, it is more the acts that are hated and those who encourage and support them rather than the whole belief system.

Actually I didn't say you indiscriminately hated on christianity. I simply said it was a good point, that indiscriminately hating is stupid and bigoted. Sorry if I implied that. I hate the negative acts as well as the people who knowingly support and encourage them. Those who unwittingly, without malice, do the negative things are to be pitied perhaps; despite the fact some of the greatest evil is perpetrated through innocence. That is not to say all those who commit negative acts are innocent.

The thing with all these beliefs is, sorry but this is true, they can be interpreted so many ways. Some believers seem to come up with all manner of "teachings" to do despicable things in the name of their religion while others show "teachings" that say their religion is one of peace. Scientolgists do this and it's only been around 50 years; one independent scientologist used Hubbard teachings to say something totally the opposite of DM. It isn't the belief it is how it is practiced. My view.

The general problem is with belief, as opposed to factual knowledge. When you start believing in things without bothering to weigh the relevant evidence, you enter a slippery slope. From there it is quite a small step to start justifying whatever you wish to justify based on your (unshakeable) convictions and being offended by people who disagree (portraying them as "haters", "suppresive" or "evil" persons and so on).

the core belief of christianity is: love everyone (especially God) and treat them accordingly

the core belief of scientology is: do whatever you can to spread scientology and keep scientology working no matter the cost which can include lying, felonious acts, generally bad human behavior and basically being a shitty person.

Not at all. $cientology's "source" explicitly _directed_ his followers to commit those crimes. The Bible doesn't direct us to go on physical warfare crusades, but rather to make disciples. Dead people cannot be disciples.  ;-)

That's the odd way it works though, as WBM says it is a slow, methodical process, it starts off very reasonable and progresses and the subject simply does not notice the change. That's what makes it so scary, people will unwittingly fall in to it unless they are forewarned and that is the main aim of what we do, try to make people aware of how this organisation works.
