FWD rally cars kicked RWD rally cars in the ass before 4WD took over. I'm no fan of 4WD as its heavy and complicated (not a problem if your a rally team with heaps of dough). I live in New Zealand and the roads here a crap, rain, snow, ice, shoddy maintenance. Give you a race against a FWD vs RWD from one end of NZ to the other the FWD will win.
