Bands i know you'll like as well, that i just remembered - check out Eagle Twin and Dark Castle - if you don't know them i garantee you they'll grab you by the nuts and kill your cats.
also - a band i just found out a few days ago, and i dont know how i lived without them so far - His Hero is Gone... check out the song "Like Weeds" by them - i bet you''ll like it.
and, dude, when you hear Eagle Twin's guitar tone, your brain will melt.
Sick dude. Yeah I actually remember Eagle Twin. Yeah, a very fucking sick tone. They're the most inspirational duo I know. I'll check out His Hero is Gone.
yeah, my dream amp is a Sunn Model T... but they're extremely hard to find and even more expensive in Portugal, so i'm guessing i'll go with the Orange really... its a choice that actually wont pain me at all, really (:
Sick man. Aren't those pretty god damn rare? Yeah go with Orange man. And if you have the patience and money, get a Matamp or Electric Green amp. They've got a fuzz knob and you'll definetly get the Sleep's Dopesmokin' tone!
yeah, i know... but the thing is - though i love Matamp as well, the Orange has a pretty similar tone to say, their new GT1 to tell you the truth,,,
... but the AD30 is 30W and the GT1 80W, though it's costumizable if you ask them, it's still alot for me.... plus - the GT1 has no dedicated clean channel, and though i play a kind of Post-metal-rockish-sludge-doom, i still need a very good clean tone... the Matamp has a great clean tone, but being footswitchable is a total must for me...
Good thinking man. You should definetly get the Orange then. How does a Sunn amp sound anyway? Do they have uber distortion tones like Sunn O)))? Or do you have to plug in pedals and shit? See because I always plug in my Fuzz Factory when I'm playing through my Orange.
let's just say Sunn 0))) named their band as a tribute to those amplifiers, and that is the biggest statement that can possibly be made about those amplifiers.
Eagle Twin, Sunn 0))), early Isis, Earth, and many other bands of "this" genre use it... basicly the sludgiest things ever invented. pure waves of earth-quaking distortion is the best way i can describe their tone, really...
about the pedals - if you want to you can plug in pedals to them... but, for example, with the Model T, i don't think you need to, at all... the distortion from it is just bone-crushing.
Never thought Sunn amps would have a lot gain to begin with since they were back in the 60s. I always thought all those sludge/drone/doom bands just plugged in distortion pedals. I need to read more about the model T.
oh, and one more thing - that Dark Castle track i have listed has nothing to do with the rest of the album, i only posted that one 'cose it was the only one that was not on youtube already, as was all of my stuff...
Flight Beyond is my favorite track off of their album (they only have one, "Spirited Migration")... talk about one more inspiring duo!
Look, dude, i'm in a website called Harmony Central... you might like it, especially in the Electric Guitar part, we have a huge thread inside it called the Doom Room... and you'd fucking love it. everything anyone will ever need to know and more about Doom is in that huge thread... in case you check it out, my name is Poltergeist in there, and i hope i'll see you there. I mean - look at the first post of all and you'll know what i mean ;)
@DesolationRow0 A GT1 is something I've been thinking about too. Don't know why, but I have this amplifier worship/addiction going on. Too bad you can't customize the GT1 with green or orange paint. How much does one cost? I don't feel like calling and asking them yet. Tryin' to save money.
I don't actually use the footswitch for my Orange. I put my gain down to 1/4 and I let my fuzz factory do the gain work.
you're kinda wrong. the GT1 on the website is a standard model, you know?
but they personalize it basicly as much as you like, even wattage and color and that stuff. sometimes they won't even charge you for such. they're really awesome amplifiers. there are some people in The Doom Room who own them, if you ask them they'll even post soundclips of them, etc.
i was quoted with 999£ by them. like 1150€. more then worth it, if you ask me.
yeah, dude, sign up. some of the most knowlegable people music-wise i've met post there. seriously, it's a never-ending pit of music information, and not just metal. and gear - uh-uh!

Oh that's cool dude! I'll check that shit out too, haha.
Yeah Sunn amps don't have a gain knob. All master volume. It has natural distortion starting from 7. Those things have to be cranked.
otusqueeky1 2 years ago
well, you can take one or 2 tubes off to make it break up earlier ;)
DesolationRow0 2 years ago
Oh alright, that's sweet. Does it really get as uber distorted as Sunn O))) would? Jesus

with a LP yeah :P
