This design is really not that bad, you have to be careful about the topmost windows- they can loose alot of heat in the winter unless covered at night. Another thing is to protect the north side with evergreens and the E,W sides with deciduous trees for sheltering purposes. The pitch of the roof could be greater to ward off snow, rain. Would be awesome to have this house. Thanks for posting.

go and read about passive solar design. you have much to learn.
either way, it's not being built so it's sort of irrelevant.
