Oh, this is one of my favorite places in the world. I lived in that area for a couple of decades, and when I was a little tyke I'd go into that tree and look up at the great hollow insides of it.
Did you climb up on top of the falls? It's quite an easy climb from the same side as the trail, just along the top lip level with that tree that hangs over the top. I love that tree too. Thanks for the memories - I live 10,000 miles away. Makes me a little homesick. :)
I've been going to Gap Creek Falls for birthdays and picnics since I was about 6 or 7. It's a beautiful place and yes I have climbed on top of the waterfall. I also remember playing inside that tree when I was young. It seems I haven't grown up. I was 26 when I made this movie and I'm still playing inside of that tree. I even learnt to abseil at Monkey Face, which as i'm sure you know is only a few hundred metres from the Gap Creek Falls car park.
