In my Battalion there is no set name you must call it. I've also called it my FLIC, field gear, and body armor, its just not a big deal, as long as you have the right crap on who gives a s***. Drop pouch...yeah I've always wanted one, but as never bothered getting one, especially when I ran a SAW, you understand why. ;)
(CONT) As for my advice, yes...2 years ago, it was aimed mostly at airsoft types. However there is truth in what I said back then. Would I change some of what I said or did? Some. However my kit setup is still generally the same. As it was then, its set up how its comfortable for me. The only thing I've really changed since then, is I already have taken my mag pouches and moved them up to about chest level. This enables me to get a lower stance in the prone.

My theory is, put it all on the LBE, that way, if you have to drive and MATV, you can download your LBE, leave the vest on, and still fit behind the steering wheel. All criticism aside, you were probably an airsofter or something prior to being military, and now you have all that high speed low drag gear. I commend you for wanting to share an authentic military load with those that might not otherwise know anything about it, and all in all it could be a lot worse. I personally have a lot more experience than you, so I wont be taking your advice, nor would I expect other combat vets to either.
My biggest issue is that you call it a "kit". You're in the military right? Call it a combat load. I have to assume that you are directing this at airsofters more than likely, (I hope), but what you are wearing is not a toy when what you are shooting contains lead and fire. Also, your thigh rig is too low. Get it as high as you can without it being blocked by your gear. Not a fan of the LBV myself, i prefer everything on my flak, but different strokes for different folks right?
Just out of curiosity do you find the army's ACU pattern to be less effective in the field than the traditional M81 Woodland Camo or the Marine Corp's Marpat (Digital Woodland Camo)?
The color scheme just seems to stand so much while the Marine's Marpat uniform actually improves on the original woodland camo? I would like to hear your opinion.
Ok Spc. Lets review. The M16/M4 fires 5.56mm Nato. Your non-firing hand will not ever be on the trigger and in combat you will drop mags as quick as possible not in the manner you put out. Next would be the non-standard ACU top you have on. Where in AR670-1 does it say you can wear an ACU uniform without the Velcro patch holders on the arms? Oh wait you have no idea what AR670-1 is so why pose as a soldier? I mean seriously you did a nice job of fooling some fool, but why bother.

Pretty good. Not the set up I prefer but I'm a lefty so it's all about comfort and convenience. I'm an officer so I only have 6 mags easily accessable since I won't be shooting as much as the soldiers. I have three mags underneath each armpit in the molle 2 pouches so I can cross load into the platoon as needed. I also have a big dump pouch that can hold up to 8 mags...I use it as an admin pouch, but in the event of an emergency I can use it for my empties in a pinch.

@musicteenalpha Good advice. Back when this video was made, I thought lightly of that sort of thing. I don't think I said anything worthy of OPSEC, but then I haven't seen the vid for some time. I've since changed my ways some regardless. However, everything the Taliban could possibly learn from this video they know already and then some. They watch how we react to situations and work against our TTPs. Heck, we go in to villes, and they see our equipment up close. Still, OPSEC is priority.

Springs do not "wear out." Cycling springs excessively causes failure. So repeated loadings with 20(?????) will cause failure faster than loading to the design spec of 30. But why 20? 15 would stress them less, right? Or just don't load them at all. They'll never wear out.
The guideline is to load ONE round short to make hot loading easier, so 29.
When reloading you should come to a high control so you have some stability instead of that mast waving in front of you. Try reloading the way you are on the move - it doesn't work so well. Also, as soon as the gun runs dry, drop the mag and reach for a new one. In a speed/emergency reload situation you don't want to be exchanging magazines.
Keep your hand off the magazine well. Nothing screams bush league like a magwell hold.
Don't give out lessons until your shit is squared away.

@4schitzangiggles well kid, if you were more up to speed on the new RFI back then, you would know, that there are "wind jackets" issued to mobilizing personnel. That which I was wearing back then was just that. And they don't have velcro on the pockets, for any type of insignia. The only velcro is that on the front, for name tapes...get your facts right.

@4schitzangiggles he's wearing the new windbreaker top out of the Army's new 7-layer cold weather system. The windbreaker doesn't have velcro on the sleeve pockets. Considering the 7-layer system is mostly being issued to deploying units through RFI, it would indicate that he has either deployed recently or was about to deploy at the time he made the video.
Yeah these guys are right about kneeling while reloading so your enemy wont see that youre reloading. But thats been beat toa pulp. One thing you might want to do is move your hand forward off the mag well. Yes many people are seen doing it but when you move your sights to a different target, your barrel will move more. By moving your hand up youll reduce the excess motion of the barrel while moving. Great job keep the barrel on target, don;t pull that magpul shit!!!

Except my fear with the "Rounds down" technique is the fact that i have the fear that the bottom of the magazine pouch will be strong enough so if i was to do something that pushes the mag downwards, it will push the bb release button and all the bb's will come out of the magazine.

I can't tell the difference between the REAL 9mm Barreta, and Sig P226, and my airsoft counterparts (assuming they are the expensive air guns, not the walmart crap). But living in commy california, to many, airsoft is the closest thing to shooting a real assault rifle they will ever get a chance at. Hell, i love airsoft paintball and real guns, all have ups and downs

@SuperSneakySniper the Marines dont use ACU at all, they have a similar kind of camo called MARPAT, which in my opinion at least from when i was in the marine corps, works better than ACU. I still like ACUs though but MARPAT blends better, seing as its either green for woodland of tan for desert. Basically it looks similar to the ACUs but Digital green or digital tan

The army does not always teach the BEST ways to do things, and there are multiple, and Better ways to accomplish the same thing that the army teaches...there is no one way, the is teh RIGHT way all the time. Also there is no rule or law saying you MUST hold it just that way...that way is just the basic way to teach 'boots' how to shoot.
@FenderStrat5150 Uhm I dont think the Army uses the term "CLip" for M-16 magazines though, I mean, that wouldn't be correct, maybe the instructor didn't know (which is odd) But the last gun we've used "Clips" with was the M1 Garand. Magazines are used now. Mags hold bullets in a contained box-like object, ex: the M4/M16 Mag. I dont know if he's in the Army, but I believe the gun is real. There is a visible green-ish "follower" inside the magazine of his gun. Airsoft mags dont have followers.
Nice setup hint of advice if you want to speed up the reloading process look into some open top mag pouchs they make life a hella more easier and they are easier to pull out with some magpuls and they are silent so you don't get the crunch of velcro
from my expiernces havin ure magizines upside down can be a drama because if you come under contact and get in the prone you can dislodge rounds and worse bend the top of the magizine and it wont connect to the magizine housing!

(CONT) As for my advice, yes...2 years ago, it was aimed mostly at airsoft types. However there is truth in what I said back then. Would I change some of what I said or did? Some. However my kit setup is still generally the same. As it was then, its set up how its comfortable for me. The only thing I've really changed since then, is I already have taken my mag pouches and moved them up to about chest level. This enables me to get a lower stance in the prone.

cont...todays modern warfare...the days of walking 100% of the time in a warzone, are pretty much done. My theory is, put it all on the LBE, that way, if you have to drive and MATV, you can download your LBE, leave the vest on, and still fit behind the steering wheel. Believe me...i hate those darn things too, but they have their place. All criticism aside, you were probably an airsofter or something prior to being military, and now you have all that high speed low drag gear. I commend you for wanting to share an authentic military load with those that might not otherwise know anything about it, and all in all it could be a lot worse. I personally have a lot more experience than you, so I wont be taking your advice, nor would I expect other combat vets to either.

My biggest issue is that you call it a "kit". You're in the military right? Call it a combat load. I have to assume that you are directing this at airsofters more than likely, (I hope), but what you are wearing is not a toy when what you are shooting contains lead and fire. Also, your thigh rig is too low. Get it as high as you can without it being blocked by your gear. Not a fan of the LBV myself, i prefer everything on my flak, but different strokes for different folks right?

Just out of curiosity do you find the army's ACU pattern to be less effective in the field than the traditional M81 Woodland Camo or the Marine Corp's Marpat (Digital Woodland Camo)?
The color scheme just seems to stand so much while the Marine's Marpat uniform actually improves on the original woodland camo? I would like to hear your opinion.

Ok Spc. Lets review. The M16/M4 fires 5.56mm Nato. Your non-firing hand will not ever be on the trigger and in combat you will drop mags as quick as possible not in the manner you put out. Next would be the non-standard ACU top you have on. Where in AR670-1 does it say you can wear an ACU uniform without the Velcro patch holders on the arms? Oh wait you have no idea what AR670-1 is so why pose as a soldier? I mean seriously you did a nice job of fooling some fool, but why bother.

Basically the Dress code, and standards on uniform and grooming appearance...right? Yeah... Next item...i haven't watched this vid in like 2 years, so if my non firing finger was on the trigger it was for demo only. I know how to handle military weaponry...i've kinda been around it for some time. As for my mags, well this was garrison...so...lay off, two, think of combat....you'll need those mags later, why not retain them, and learn how to in a timely manner? hmm? just saying.

Pretty good. Not the set up I prefer but I'm a lefty so it's all about comfort and convenience. I'm an officer so I only have 6 mags easily accessable since I won't be shooting as much as the soldiers. I have three mags underneath each armpit in the molle 2 pouches so I can cross load into the platoon as needed. I also have a big dump pouch that can hold up to 8 mags...I use it as an admin pouch, but in the event of an emergency I can use it for my empties in a pinch.

enforcement agency knows that. Say you wanted to get accepted and excel into a military sniper school. You have to be able to shoot EXPERT in your weapons qualifications to be even considered... that's using Iron sights. If you can't, forget it. I've since changed my ways some regardless. However, everything the Taliban could possibly learn from this video they know already and then some. They watch how we react to situations and work against our TTPs. Heck, we go in to villes, and they see our equipment up close. Still, OPSEC is priority.

But my bullets, because I actually practiced, even if my 'instruction' videos are crude, will fly accurate. I bet you I could handle myself in a firefight. As for gripping the mag well? Well I've been doing that since I first picked up a 5.56 cal weapon 4 years ago. No problems yet, and I still hit 10/10 targets at 600m kneeling..

Springs do not "wear out." Cycling springs excessively causes failure. So repeated loadings with 20(?????) will cause failure faster than loading to the design spec of 30. But why 20? 15 would stress them less, right? Or just don't load them at all. They'll never wear out.
The guideline is to load ONE round short to make hot loading easier, so 29.

When reloading you should come to a high control so you have some stability instead of that mast waving in front of you. Try reloading the way you are on the move - it doesn't work so well. Also, as soon as the gun runs dry, drop the mag and reach for a new one. In a speed/emergency reload situation you don't want to be exchanging magazines.
Keep your hand off the magazine well. Nothing screams bush league like a magwell hold.
Don't give out lessons until your shit is squared away.

That which I was wearing back then was just that. And they don't have velcro on the pockets, for any type of insignia. The only velcro is that on the front, for name tapes...get your facts right.

Considering the 7-layer system is mostly being issued to deploying units through RFI, it would indicate that he has either deployed recently or was about to deploy at the time he made the video.

Yeah these guys are right about kneeling while reloading so your enemy wont see that youre reloading. But thats been beat toa pulp. One thing you might want to do is move your hand forward off the mag well. Yes many people are seen doing it but when you move your sights to a different target, your barrel will move more. By moving your hand up youll reduce the excess motion of the barrel while moving. Great job keep the barrel on target, don;t pull that magpul shit!!!

Except my fear with the "Rounds down" technique is the fact that i have the fear that the bottom of the magazine pouch will be strong enough so if i was to do something that pushes the mag downwards, it will push the bb release button and all the bb's will come out of the magazine.

@xxxEpicxxx911 Airsoft aint just for the action. When i used to play, it was becuase the weaponry was near identical. I can't tell the difference between the REAL 9mm Barreta, and Sig P226, and my airsoft counterparts (assuming they are the expensive air guns, not the walmart crap). But living in commy california, to many, airsoft is the closest thing to shooting a real assault rifle they will ever get a chance at. Hell, i love airsoft paintball and real guns, all have ups and downs

@Bekhang95 Hahah! Seriously?? You're gonna play that game with myself, and another soldier? Wow you gotta be on the verge total retardation. No. To be fair, I'll say you were army, but they kicked you out, because you were unsuitable. And yes, azNF is right. You must be at least E4 to even get into Pre SF and SFAS. Once you're done you're training they promote you to a minimum of E5 dude, I know several of these guys...and you aren't one of them. They don't parade themselves like you try to.

@Bekhang95 im 19D cav scout (recon) in B-troop,177th cav 50th IBCT..... and i think your full of shit, being in the army i am 100 percent positive that in order to be SF (18 series) you need to be atleast a sgt or E-5 for you since your not really in the army. just letting you know its a felony to impersonate a soldier :) so dont do it because you will look like a fag. too late you are :D no hard feelings fag.

I love all the military "experts" on youtube. Everyone's a fuckin Navy Seal right? leave the dude alone, he just made a video about his shit. I'm not in the military, nor have I ever been, I just like to learn about military gear- I like guns and ammo and I like to talk to people about guns and ammo. Good video dude, and to all the Current and "ex" military here; thank you for your service. P.S. for all the youtube "snipers" and "Seals," quit the youtube "badass" act- no one is impressed.

At first I thought you were an airsofter until I found the gun real O.O (course airsoft is cool too no offense) can I guess Army? ur uniform is in ACU, i dont think marines use ACU quite yet.... idk idk im not in the military. I have served with Defense and OPContractors over seas though. I stumbled upon this vid in search for an alternative to my Dump Pouch.... im starting to dislike the dump P. method... Ever try those speed mag holders? the ones that hold the mag in with an elastic string?

@SuperSneakySniper the Marines dont use ACU at all, they have a similar kind of camo called MARPAT, which in my opinion at least from when i was in the marine corps, works better than ACU. I still like ACUs though but MARPAT blends better, seing as its either green for woodland of tan for desert. Basically it looks similar to the ACUs but Digital green or digital tan

Fail, your not supposed to grab the clip. I was in Boot camp and we got to get the M-16's, and the guy said NOT to grab the clip. you grab the barrel, half on the barrel and half of your hand on the clip part. Never grab the clip. And are you an airsofter or in real Army?

clips are for hair and pistols. and as long as you don't put pressure on the magazines backwards, you won't cause a malfunction with the weapon.

@macst19 Sorry, I meant to say magazine. Wouldn't it just be safe if you held it differently? Say you're in combat and you accidentally put backwards pressure. You cause a slight malfunction and get shot. I'd rather just hold it differently. And are you active military?

Interesting statement.
In CCB one is taught to place your hand on the front of the mag well in addition to using the traditional hand on the forearm of the weapon.
As a point of note.... the device that holds the rounds is not a clip it is a mag

@FenderStrat5150 Well if you knew anything about the real army, then you'd realize that the army teaches one standard and one standard only...that's "Joe Proof". The army does not always teach the BEST ways to do things, and there are multiple, and Better ways to accomplish the same thing that the army teaches...there is no one way, the is teh RIGHT way all the time. Also there is no rule or law saying you MUST hold it just that way...that way is just the basic way to teach 'boots' how to shoot.

@FenderStrat5150 Uhm I dont think the Army uses the term "CLip" for M-16 magazines though, I mean, that wouldn't be correct, maybe the instructor didn't know (which is odd) But the last gun we've used "Clips" with was the M1 Garand. Magazines are used now. Mags hold bullets in a contained box-like object, ex: the M4/M16 Mag. I dont know if he's in the Army, but I believe the gun is real. There is a visible green-ish "follower" inside the magazine of his gun. Airsoft mags dont have followers.

Nice setup hint of advice if you want to speed up the reloading process look into some open top mag pouchs they make life a hella more easier and they are easier to pull out with some magpuls and they are silent so you don't get the crunch of velcro

from my expiernces havin ure magizines upside down can be a drama because if you come under contact and get in the prone you can dislodge rounds and worse bend the top of the magizine and it wont connect to the magizine housing!
