  • @vincentarand19 Hello, Mallard Lake is in Hanover Park and you can Google Mallard Lake Forest Preserve and don't forget to check out DuPageAngler . Thanks!

  • WHAT PART OF THE LAKE DID U CATCH THAT??? PLZZZ ANSWER

  • I am a 2 to 3 days a week urban fisherman. I believe in catch & release to a point, but for instance if i am fishing the lake front and i catch a 6 1/2 pound smallie, I'm sorry guys but im putting it on my wall!!I practice catch and release most of the time undersized fish and 22 inch bass get put back. I follow whats required....For gods sake if your catchin 14 to 16 inch bass release them its sad if your keepin them...NICE FISH

  • nice fish but i wouldnt eat out of tht lake its dirty as hell.

  • That fish would have tasted REAL bad. Mallard isn't too bad since the northern pike and big bass are thriving. At least you can see several feet down on a clear day. There are many lakes that are MUCH worse.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Maybe you are talking about a different Mallard Lake? Mallard has musky as well. If it was a filthy lake the county wouldn't spend a dime on stocking it with anything but warmouths and catfish if anything at all.

  • Tht lake did have a problem with bacteria or ecoli or something a few years back . I think they cleaned it up pretty good enough for it to be ok to be around . Still wouldn't eat anything out of there . I'm a catch and release guy anyway . But there is always those several people on an illinois lake with there stringers and buckets ruining it . I hope they get sick from the fish hahaha . I been to mallard a few times and caught bass fairly easy on artificial plastics and lures . Good times :)

  • ya thts wht i thought it did have a prbablem with ecoli i think tht was it but dnt knw for sure anyway ya but i dnt eat all the fish i catch i only eat the onlys tht are just legal size nuthin like 47 inches

  • It is a flathead catfish. It was caught on a succker I think.

  • what is the fish?

  • Beautiful fish and nice catch... but serioulsy, you couldn't let it go? What are you going to do with it? eat it? ridiculous.. no wonder fishing is getting worse across the country.

Please, please, next time, enjoy the catch, take some photos and then get it back in the water for someone else to enjoy.

  • This fish was let go. This fish was let go with a DuPage County Forest Preserve officer present and it swam off to be caught another day.

I have been catch & release my entire life & the person that caught it decided to do the same. Thanks for the comment.

  • I'm so sorry for assuming the worse; good for you for letting it go; perhaps our sons or daughters will one day catch its offspring!

It looked pretty dead near the end, glad to know it lives to fight another day!

All the best to you and your family.

    Cheers,

    David
