about a foot away. I no longer own this filter. I went with a MUCH better quality lens made by raynox. at double the price $54. NO regrets whatsoever. the sharpness is worth it

the camera has a optional attachment for 58mm. the diopters can be bought on ebay for $27, however they are too soft to be use professionally. The best decent budget macro lenses are made by raynox. look up raynox 150 and 250 on flickr.
