I love this version.....The Vietnamese version also rocks....but let me ask, what language is this? I know this is not Mandarin nor Cantonese.....Is it Hokkien? or Taiwanese? it sounds so nice....I would love to study this Chinese language

Well, it's a Taiwanese song. Now, whether you call it Hokkien or Taiwanese, you will be criticized by one side or the other, ha ha. To play it safe, call it Minnan/Southern Min/Hoklo/Hokkien/Amoy/ZhangQu­an/Taiwanese/Penang Hokkien/Lan-nang/Lan-Lang-oe/.­.., use as many slashes as you can. :)

I've looked some of obalajadia comments, and just wanna remind u that we Taiwan are now trying to pass the bill in the Legislation Yuan that making Taiwanese or Taiwan Holo(more academic way to describe this language), Taiwan Hakka, and Formosan Austronesian languages as our official languages to show the equality of each language group, rather than arbitrarily categorise them as "dialect" as our neighbouring country , since intrinsically they are not intelligible at all!

i support such bill, alas all dialects in Taiwan will be elevated officially. however, please remind that most dialects are still developing its written form sharing the same Han characters. also noting that in future, ethnic division and may be hatres will inevitable surface.

thus it's still better to have Mandarin for

unification and solidarity purposes.

Please look up the word Taiwanese in dictionaries. It also refers to the language.

Taiwanese, the language, which is related to Amoy / Fujian (Fukien?), is a polynesian language, and it is not the official language of Taiwan, which is why when you say Taiwanese it is Mandarin (the traditional Mandarin).

This song is originally sung in Filipino/Tagalog language by a Philippines singer by the name of Freddy.....something...forget already. By the same singer, he also sing the same song in English version which is hugely popular about 30 years ago. It is a classic song. Surpeised the melody was copied to this Taiwanese version. Glad to hear this song & evergreen melody again.....TQ for upload.
