  • anyone notice how the clock goes from 8:55 to 8:50?

  • @Laxitudeeeee Google Docs and Google Music. If you constantly sync to your iTunes get airsync.

  • So... it's worse in every single way except speed. Including price. It should be like 200 dollars for what you're getting.

  • Cute but wtf is good with word and itunes

  • But my Laptop not an Chrome Notebook. And it's super fast. lol

  • plz answer can we download files like games on to this .......

  • @TheMrslick123 lol, no

  • so wait... can this thing only be used to browse the web? what about typing up word documents, or playing games?

  • @Vortigaunt501 There exist both text editors and games (even in 3D) online.

  • okay first of all google chrome worst web browser out there. secound of all. A windows computer can also get you on the web in 10 secounds. If that computer as a good spec, Im sure the same applys to the chrome book if you have a rubbish speced chrome book it would take longer and if you had a awsome speced chrome book it would be quicker. The same said for any other OS system out there

  • @RChabbo Have the best specs you have, a Windows computer won't boot up your systems, programs, background programs...etc. then get you onto the internet in 10 seconds. This is pretty much impossible with a full blown OS, which is what Windows is.

Chrome OS tackles this by getting rid of all of that, and just putting chrome web browser on a laptop. And if you think chrome is the worst web browser than you must know some amazing web browsers out there...

  • What about control panel?

  • If you have problems with unecessary programs starting during start up, then that's what I call a msconfig fail.

  • Omg, Google can write a shell script to launch Chrome on startup!

    I'm so impressed!

  • Fart web

  • THE WEB... FAST

    FAST. WEB :D

  • haha, these commercials are inspired on south park humor i think

  • @thekeyring They're google for goodness sake***

  • They could have just made a good desktop OS that doesn't get in your way if all you want to do is log in quickly and jump onto the web, but loads more if you want to play an intense video game or do some video editing. They're good for goodness sake, they could have coded good software and Windows would have seen real competition.

  • It has not more functionality than a calculator but needs 10 seconds to boot?

  • @nrviognjiocfmbkirdom What calculator model are you using to see this video on the internet then?

  • @Yunituber Casio ALGEBRA FX 2.0 PLUS but I modified it a bit

  • This video keeps coming up in my mind. It is NOT "Fast Web"! And I think Google inserted that punctuation after I suggested via the feedback form that it should be SUED for FALSE ADVERTISING!

GOOGLE IS LYING TO YOU! CHROMEBOOKS ARE EXTREMELY SLOW!

  • 1; He could've left the computer on

    2; He needs to shave

3 It takes 10 seconds just to light up a screen and goto the internet

4 What is its use? - no good for gaming cause it cant install games - no good for students or business people coz it cant load up microsoft word

    5. How can you watch Youtube if theres no flash player so if you wanna watch youtube

you have to get the "uneccesary" program updates

  • @Richarrior The browser is used also as a desktop,They just made this so that people could cut to the chase and just get on the internet.

  • @Richarrior Not sure if trolling or just dumb. O.o

  • at 0:21 dude morphs into a hippie, then takes a shroom and has visions of Moby Dick. Cool!

  • WTF? 10 seconds is THAT FAST? Fast for what? That's how long my XP takes to boot (true, after a fresh format). If I want fast loading times and I only use the net, I'll get a regular notebok, I'll format and I won't install anything else and voilla, boots in 10 seconds but can do a whole lot more shit than a piece of crap like this can...

  • I think Google added the four periods in "Fast Web" after I e-mailed them several times about the speed through their feedback form, saying they should be sued for false advertising.

"Fast. Web..." doesn't make any sense and is very conspicuous to a writer like me. I don't think those periods were there before. I think Google knows that their Chromebooks are incredibly slow and altered this video without changing the upload date to discourage others from coming to the same rational conclusion:

  • @evilturtle999 That Google should be sued for false advertising for claiming "Fast Web" when the Intel Atom processor is one of the slowest modern processors out there and that, for Internet use, it's conspicuously lacking in performance, responsiveness, and capacity to balance websites by allowing the scrolling of one page while another page loads. The situation is worse when you attempt true multitasking.

  • BULLSHIT! This is one of the slowest computers on the market today! Because of its piece-of-shit Intel Atom processor, "living on the web" is excruciatingly painful!

Oh hell, you can boot up fast, but try using Google Docs, Google+, Google News (or the news sites themselves), or even Google search! TOO LONG and TOO SLOW!

Google should be ASHAMED of this commercial and the release of the Samsung and Acer Chromebooks. The processor is better suited for LOCAL apps, NOT THE WEB.

    FUCK YOU, GOOGLE!

  • @evilturtle999 so they should make chrome books with mainstream cpus. problem solved.

  • @Garegin That's right. The problem could easily be solved that way. I've already spent some hours this morning and last night farting around with resetting it and changing settings on my router, to no real avail. In fact, it seemed to make things worse. But it's back to "normal" now, with slow speed et cetera.

This is still the best computer out there, you know that? Even being so slow, at least the OS isn't filled with annoying features and tinkering with it is very much simplified :-/

  • i like google chrome as a web browser, but i dont want it as a whole fucking notebook

  • If it makes the internet faster... OBVIOUSLY they haven't been to my school.

  • i wonder if u donwload firefox on a chromebook

  • Obviously this is for lazy people because I don't mind waiting the 30 seconds to log into my computer. thats like microwaving a poptart because your too lazy to put it in the toaster. not only that its easy to disable start up programs. I don't like all my shit stored on the web. I'm never worried about losing files because recovery is as easy as booting in Ubuntu, Fedora, Slax and many other of the OS's I have obtained in the past few years. Plus I don't like Chrome. Firefox is better.

  • @TheIndustrialrocker I understand what your saying about not wanting all your stuff on the web but you should rethink saying firefox is better than chrome, chrome has a variety of features the only thing firefox offers is a internet browser, with chrome all u need is a gmail acc its free and u have like thousand apps that wont slow your internet down

  • @FatalBeast007 nope I control most of my stuff. about:config and I just play around. I got everything I need. No need for chrome. I got my proxies to connect to, My email is from my own server so no need for Gmail. I do have an Android phone but I don't use the Google market, I download videos from the source code in websites. what more would I want. I don't need a bunch of bloat ware. The only thing to do with a Gmail is Youtube but that was forced.

  • @TheIndustrialrocker so u pretty much dont even need a chromebook unless u play games and stuff like i do :3

  • @FatalBeast007 I only play hardcore games and chromebook won't be able to offer that if it is a different OS.

  • Comment removed

  • @FatalBeast007 also in Chrome the Gmail account is in plain text in the cookies.

  • I hope that fast.my ubuntu 11.10 delay from the BIOS to login approximately 27 seconds

  • My Ubuntu takes 9 seconds to load. Beat that chromebooks. It even has programs you can install and mozilla firefox. alaso it has chromium.

  • Can I use firefox on it?

  • Comment removed

  • I just realized this video is 1 year old...

  • so true this:

    Thomas Claburn of InformationWeek writes:

Chromebooks make a lot of sense for businesses that want a system for employees that provides Web access without the management burden of a full-blown computer. For individuals, the Chromebook value proposition is less clear.

    ***.labnol.org/gadgets/google-chromebook-reviews/19542/

  • Only an idiot with no computer sense would have unnecessary programs starting up. There is a little program called Autoruns that allows you to disable all unnecessary programs and services. My windows 7 machine starts up in less than a minute. Google acts like it takes 5 or 6 minutes to start up a desktop or laptop. The chromebook is a piece of garbage. No wonder they cut the price. Chromebooks should cost 50 to100 dollars and not a penny more.

  • @CainmosniMirrored agree there. but then the SSD costs to much and they will have to switch from a SSD to a normal HDD. In my opinion it is a netbook and the market for netbooks is losing to tablets. I honestly for a computer would like the AMD Processors, Core 2 Duo at the least. I'm power hungry but I need it. also if games are not going to be produced by the machine then it will be destined to fail unless it has a fan following which it may because of Android.

  • I'm using chromebook and this is actually true.

  • I need this!!

  • so this mean i can watch porn faster? o.0

  • @zionbnr32 if u watch too much porn ur gonna go blind

  • @iRouRoui Because of the speed?

  • @iRouRoui sorry i cant read that i need my glasses 8D

  • @zionbnr32 You can watch ANYTHING faster. YouTube, Emails, or anything, even porn... if you realy, realy wanted to that is...

  • Downloading files using Google Chrome is however slow.

  • Comment removed

  • this wouldnt be a bad idea if it was put on a tablet you could pick up for 60 bucks.

  • thats alot of porn tabs at 0:52

  • it only takes like 20 seconds to start up windows anyways

  • Hmm, this is a tough one. Do I buy a crippled laptop for the same price as my fully functional laptop, or do I keep my data and content under my control and save $300?

  • Fast. Web. LoL

  • I'm not criticizing Chrome OS, but some other operating systems; somewhat like Win8 DP Hybrid Boot technology, Ubuntu, or ASUS Express gate (we own an Eee PC); have nearly the same boot times. The regular difference is the price. First, think Canonical's Ubuntu. Then, think about ASUS net book. After then, see how much is a chromebook. Don't know the price yet.

  • What a rip off

Asus Express Gate does the same thing

    Youtube it

  • only windows is as slow as they say computers are in the vid. linux and mac are very fast. and now windows 7 can boot up in 10 seconds on the lenovo thinkpad

  • Fast :)

  • I wait LESS than 20 seconds to unhibernate my Windows XP :D

  • Thats why you dont install millions of useless programs and modify msconfig to not start up useless things

  • Ubuntu boots equal

  • How do i use iTunes?!

  • Chrome OS is a unix OS. I think.

  • Just tweak your OS, I guess. :/ Stop all unneeded programmes from starting up, shut down visuals if you feel that you don't need em and uninstall all unneeded programmes or stuff you don't need. :|

  • Or just... get a good Linux OS?

  • 0:18 FAIL.

At 0:18 the clock says 8:55 am,

at 0:20 the clock says 8:50 am.

  • @Jasperfritse It's not a fail, he waited 23 hours and 55 minutes for his desktop to load. :L

  • @Superkoopashaun

And he grew a beard too!

  • @Jasperfritse and then it says 9 am -.- chrome os probably has time altering features

  • @Jasperfritse i think the point is that he was there for about a day.

  • @Jasperfritse time passes?

  • @Jasperfritse must be using Windows XP internet time synchronization.

  • @Jasperfritse it took 23 hours and 55 minutes for it to boot up.

  • @Jasperfritse That's not a fail. It just took 23 hours and 55 minutes for it to load.

  • I just hibernate my intel pentium crappy laptop and it starts up in 8-10 seconds...

  • u dont have to wait with linux

  • @TheMsdos25: Chrome OS is Linux...

  • @stephyVIDS Cool story, bro

  • I have this new flashlight. It's like a computer. User input causes it to emit light. I mean thats what computers do right? Guess how fast it turns on? Like less than a tenth of a second! So my flashlight is just a fast computer. So you should just buy my flashlight for the same price. Right?

NO! Read a book during all the time you waste getting to the internet in Windows. These thing are also way overpriced

  • FAST WEB

  • so it's useless without an internet connection yeah?

  • @ShroukiePoo like every laptop

  • 90% of the time my PC is in sleep mode, so I simply press any key and I'm online in 5 seconds!!! :P

  • @FugazStar Yep, and if you're worried about power consumption with sleep, then Hibernate. Takes slightly longer, still worth it.

  • Comment removed

  • Guys give the chromenotebook a chance.. im not saying i wouldn't have a pc.. but about over 80% of people do only use there computer for the internet....

Ya it may not have the high end specs, and stuff but you don't really need them if your just on the internet.. It also saves money because instead of having to go out a and buy a new computer every year or 2...... just update chrome :D and no viruses and such.... And the security... I mean if your really worried about it, dont use Facebook.

  • Buy a macbook, takes about 5 seconds to start up!

  • @jacktennesee but who has like 5 million dollars!

  • @elijahbussard its a lifetime investment haha

  • @jacktennesee Buy a Windows 8 PC w/ a SSD. Boots faster and can do so much more =P

  • @Ticomfreak I dont really care about loadiing time to be honest, i dont know why people do so much. Its a matters of seconds and people make out its like hours!! Also im a graphic designer so macs pretty perfect for me!

  • I don't know why I never seem to tire of the growing beard over time for ironically long events. The web...fast. Fast web. (fast web)

  • if every thing is going to be on the net.. so hackers will have an real easy way to us... and ur buin it with the catchy commercial...

  • 10 seconds is the time that I wait to boot my Ubuntu

  • @Brooklin10 It takes only 4 sec to boot it now btw

  • @Brooklin10 10 hours is the time you wait to learn Ubuntu and 10 years is the time you wait to have your drivers updated.

  • @dylanflowerz Ubuntu today, it's considered the easiest OS.

Ubuntu have all the necessary drivers that are updated, if you want during the installation of the sistem, wich don't takes you less than 15 minutes

  • @Brooklin10 A good quote relating to this, "It's not that Ubuntu users don't know anything, it's that users who don't know anything use Ubuntu"

    Hurrrr Haar

  • @Lolzmaoful Actually, who does not use Ubuntu is who knows nothing

  • @Brooklin10 You sir are a moron.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @dylanflowerz clearly you don't understand the principles of free software.

  • @Brooklin10 Does it open your browser in that 10 seconds?

  • @65Hyper If I want that my browser start with the operational system. Yes, it does it.

  • really had to use moby dick

  • wait, if we can't do exercises while the computer is starting, we're gonna be fat!!! i don't like this... jum!

  • HAHAHAHA LMAO Xd

  • In fact the iPad connects faster. And it works without internet.

  • @decapattack Actually, Android Tablets that can run other operating systems that support the ARM architecture such as Debian natively have varied connectivity times.

For example, my XOOM which can run Debian 6.0 natively with GNOME 2.32 can connect to the Internet in less than 20 seconds.

  • If you don't have Internet, then it's useless.

  • just install a ssd hard drive and u c the difference :)

  • Is it just me or does that guy look like Tom Merrit?

  • Another way of Google knowing eveything you do...

  • Still waiting to see an actual notebook loading in 8 seconds... not just a cartoon!

  • @sonyarina I timed it once myself with my chromebook... I got around 6 seconds o.O I don't even have to press the on button either :P

  • This is the future. bravo

  • What? Extra programs? Did you use Debian with LXDE? It's fast, it doesn't contain extra programs in autostart, it can run browser after logon. What's the difference? On Debian you can do anything. Please run developer php webserver and vim. Please make a new design in Dia. Every GNU/Linux can this... except "the best" Google Chrome OS!

  • the only apps i ever open are itunes and chrome. and i don't open itunes as much as chrome.

  • I'll stick to Win7 on an SSD. The extra 6 second wait is worth it for the ability to actually do things...

  • Chrome OS needs to be 20% cooler.

  • @mrcre84fun This is a computer?

  • @exposed97 Actually, Chromebooks have SSDs. Harddrives are a ancient technology now.

  • The web: fast. Fast web. fastweb

  • Just buy an SSD and your PC will be just as fast....

  • so to use ANYTHING apart from a really expensive laptop that does nothing but the web, you need to pay for internet...

If you go abroad you can't even use write a word document without paying for expensive internet fees.

    fail.

  • right... so why don't i just buy a simple cheap laptop... and use the internet ;)

if this was $100 it would be great - but not sure what it's saying - it's taking OFF everything and lifted the price.... riiiight...

  • Quite a lot of the people who are bitching about the Chromebook don't need anything more than a browser based OS on a netbook. What do they do, check Facebook and their emails? They act like all of a sudden they have super important shit to take care of.

  • @hullothereyall Yep.

  • @hullothereyall Dude really good comment i literally laughed at it

  • @fatabe1 XD Well, it's true.

  • @hullothereyall lol so true

  • @hullothereyall

Yep. Because my games, programs, and everything else is completely unimportant.

  • @codeythesilent Dude, this computer is quite obvious not for you demographic. A fairly good chunk of people, however, only use computers for the web.

  • @hullothereyall haha amen:D

  • @hullothereyall Actually I think a lot of people do word processing, which I know can be done on Google Docs, but if your internet dies you're screwed, and many many people do video editing now, too. Camcorders are affordable, people want to move the footage to their laptop and edit it. People also sync iPods/iPhones with iTunes. People also play games that aren't web-based. None of which can be done on a Chromebook.

  • I can, of course, buy an iPad. What's the difference between a chromebook and an iPad? Oh, right, App Store pwns Chrome Web Store, file saving and the price.

  • I can log into and load up a browser in 15 seconds on windows 7 from bootup.....I can load ubuntu in about 8 seconds...you are yet to convince me google :)

  • *Le me on chromebook + Le fast web = Le fast porn.

  • I don't think this idea is a good at this time cuz if I don't have web that's mean I can't use Chromebook !!! and Wi-fi isn't available in all places.

  • @abdalla5243305 it has 3g lolz

  • @abdalla5243305 *Cough*Verizon Wi-fi*Cough*

  • look at the computer time at 0:20 and 0:22...lol like the 50th google video i found some easter egg in XD

  • So can I just install chrome on my macbook which has twice the ram and a nice safe hard drive?

  • Google! You are about 10 years late! A £500 notebook has decent specifications these days and getting onto the internet doesn't take much time at all. I don't know why anyone would choose to limit their computing activities just so that they can get onto the internet 10 seconds quicker than before. It's asking customers to pay more for less, not to mention the security problems in having everything stored on the net, where you and governments can spy on our browsing behaviour and activity

  • HEY! DONT DO IT DONT GET A CHROME BOOK!

    the chromebook itself is $350 - $400

price to use the operating system $28 a month with a 3 year contract witch adds up to $1008 so basically your going to end up spending $1358 - $1408

    STILL THINK ITS WORTH IT

  • @datafreak667 i didn't think it was worth it to begin with, but thanks :)

  • wow, such a lie....

the 28 dollars is NOT for the operating system, it is for the laptop and ONLY for businesses who sign up for it (and it includes free replacement&upgrades on hardware. so no... the only thing the average consumer will have to pay is the laptop price and "maybe" the cost for any wireless 3g or 4g plan they subscribe for (or you can just use your home WiFi and not pay that).

  • the chrome book won't sell all that well, because for the average computer user, it couldn't replace their computer, its just an additional device like a tablet

the people I'm talking about are the ones who use computers for work and a many of them work with very confidential information and a web based OS can't be secure enough for that

  • well my iPad is even faster. Chrome failed.

  • I used google chrome and firefox will not reach, and also why you're leaving a laptop capable of playing DVD, Blu-ray some even by a fucking browser.

  • what if ur internet is down? does that mean u can't use your computer? lol?
