Most of my friends have absolutely no health care, they all applied for medicare/medicaid, and got denied. All they can go to is walk-in clinics, which are not the best, if you've ever been to one. One of my friends, went to the hospital for urgent care after a brutal care accident, and now has a bill for over $79,000! He has to pay that bill in 10 years, yes they cannot take away my friends home or assets, but he is already bankrupt. Please tell me there is a fix to the problem.

I don't agree with everyone having insurance, but getting the government involved will be a mistake. The quality of healthcare will go down and the premiums will increase. I already pay high premiums now and don't get doctor's coverage, just major medical (self employed). We need to put caps on everyone involved in the healthcare system and make it affordable for the average citizen.

It would have been far better to fix the problems that already existed; like the ever growing cost of insurance coverage. Instead we will be paying more for less; preexisting conditions could have been easily drafted in any real reform with affordable quality coverage for all citizens. No one is presently denied emergency care in this country whether you can pay or not. SCHIP already covers every child in the U.S till the age of 19. The real problems have not been resolved but made far worse.

Actually, it can be backed up by the World Health Organization and pure statistical facts. We have the highest infant mortality rates of any developed country in the world. In addition, we have the lowest life expectancy of any developed country on earth. We spend twice as much money on healthcare as any developed country, yet, we are the only developed country that doesn't have free healthcare. These are statistical facts.

Actually, with more people paying into the pot, the plan is to save money off of the already wasteful healthcare spending of today. Remember, hospitals in America are not allowed to turn away emergency cases, whether or not they can pay, landing huge surgery bills to the government. By letting people who can't get health insurance get insured, you're adding more people to the pool. More people means more money to pay for it.

Most of my friends have absolutely no health care, they all applied for medicare/medicaid, and got denied. All they can go to is walk-in clinics, which are not the best, if you've ever been to one. One of my friends, went to the hospital for urgent care after a brutal care accident, and now has a bill for over $79,000! He has to pay that bill in 10 years, yes they cannot take away my friends home or assets, but he is already bankrupt. Please tell me there is a fix to the problem.

I don't agree with everyone having insurance, but getting the government involved will be a mistake. The quality of healthcare will go down and the premiums will increase. I already pay high premiums now and don't get doctor's coverage, just major medical (self employed). We need to put caps on everyone involved in the healthcare system and make it affordable for the average citizen.

It would have been far better to fix the problems that already existed; like the ever growing cost of insurance coverage. Instead we will be paying more for less; preexisting conditions could have been easily drafted in any real reform with affordable quality coverage for all citizens. No one is presently denied emergency care in this country whether you can pay or not. SCHIP already covers every child in the U.S till the age of 19. The real problems have not been resolved but made far worse.

If there are 30,000 people without health insurance it would be far easier and cheaper to simply purchase health insurance for them, rather than change the entire healthcare system. If this bill passes 50% of the doctors practicing will quit or retire....there will be no healthcare for anyone. There will be lines and waiting periods...it will NOT be an improvement.

i actually agree government should be kept small. a big reason why it isn't is because of people that want to cheat the system. OSHA regs are HUGE. many of these could have been avoided if companies would have taken it upon themselves to create safe working environments. perhaps if rush would send a message of personal responsibility to the "elite" rather than spending hours telling us they are well intentioned and beyond reproach, he would have more creedence with me.

you bring up a very good point here. there is a distinction between what is a "lawsuit" and what is actually gross negligence. and i think eliminating frivilous lawsuits while maintaining physician responsiblity is on solution. consider this, the reason a lot of people end up at the ER is because they would be charged at a DR office or promed. making individual policies more accessable and affordable is another solution. it can be done without NHC.

When you subtract the number of people from the 45 million uninsured that can afford health insurance, are illegal immigrants, or are part of the young invincibles crowd you are left with something like 12 million roughly 5% of the country.

Actually, with more people paying into the pot, the plan is to save money off of the already wasteful healthcare spending of today. Remember, hospitals in America are not allowed to turn away emergency cases, whether or not they can pay, landing huge surgery bills to the government. By letting people who can't get health insurance get insured, you're adding more people to the pool. More people means more money to pay for it.

I agree that the stimulus plan was not soley designed to reverse the economic crisis. it was used as an opportunity to secure funds for vast investment in infrastructure, education, industry etc. this is a good thing. The economy is turning around, things are getting better, and by the end of obama's term everybody will see the benefits, and they will be great. there are no ill intentions, obama is investing money into America. bush spent a trillion and countless lives on an illegal war.

LaBonceWillis: If you're so against Bush's wars, now that they are Obama's wars, then we must say Obama = Hitler! Obama is killing inocent civilians in Afghanistan, and Iraq. We're seeing a rise in violence in Iraq AND Afghanistan so Obama has blood on his hands. In fact Obama recently killed Osama's son! :) Unless your naive enough to believe Obama's bombs hurt much less than Bush's bombs? Where are the anti-war marchers and activists? You're right, Obama has escalated the war in Afghanistan... but he is ending the war in Iraq, and i cannot remember much protesting about invading Afghanistan from the left. I could be wrong though.
But my point was comparing Obama's trillion spent money investing in America, to Bush's trillion spent on the Iraq war

Obama is going to spend far more in one term than Bush did in two, Iraq War included. Trust me Obama is not investing in anything, he is throwing money away. Not to mention that from November 2006 until Bush was out, the congress was in control by democrats. Therefore every single budget proposal passed by Bush was passed by congress. Your boy Obama will do more damage to this country in 4 years, than any president has done in the history of the United States. Brush up on your info liberal.

Investing in America. I love the fact that we are buying toilets for the national parks when we have people starving in this country and people who need medical attention. We have people out of work and they are buying friggin toilets! Thanks for that Obafooonma!

Maybe u should write your congressmen and encourage them to end the 2 wars that Bush started. We are shelling out over $1 trillion a year for those debacles. We could feed a lot of Americans with the money we save, and employe them too. Thanks for your support of Bush & lack of support for Mr. Obama

ok fine. rush limbaugh has promoted and perpetuated the lie that Obama wants to use his health care plan to kill off old people, so he can cover young liberals and illegal aliens. if that is not an example of his vile hatred and lies, then I don't know what is. And in addition, I don't think he actually believes this, yet he has concocted this ignorant statement to scare and rile up people who do not know or are unwilling to know enough abput the facts, that would enable them to dismiss it.

When did he EVER say that? I'm pretty sure Rush has explained that " Its about control " not about trying to kill people off. However some people will NOT be covered due to rationing, this occurs EVERYWHERE universal healthcare is tried.

Quit lying, it's unbecoming. Nobody has read the final copy of the bill. It's still being discussed and debated. Many changes will take place before Obama sees & signs the polished bill this Fall.

Obama has been inoffice for 6 months. He said unemployment wouldn't go over 4/5% if we passed the stimilusbill. I believe it's at a hefty 10% right now.

What about the fact that the AARP is not supporting the bill. Of anyone they would know. They have been paying off congressmen for years. They know this bill will be a death sentence to the elderly. Again, you don't read the news Skippy. AARP supports & endorses Obama, so does the AMA, insurance companies, and hospitals. Even the Cleveland & Mayo Clinics change their opinions & supports what Obama wants to do. Read, read, read and read some more Skippy. Excuse me oldjazzman, Mayo clinic does not endorse that bill..alot of hospitals do not support this idea. alot of doctors are not members of the AMA. No body has read the bill yet because there is no bill ast this point
