1. I have studied this tragedy at school many years ago, both in the original ancient and its translation in contemporary Greek. So maybe i can lelp at least with 3 of your questions.
Both Antigone and the King are aware of the moral and devine law that demands respect for the dead no matter what they are guilty of. Kreon is definately a tyrant, an absolute ruler who defies this law, thus showing off his power to his subjects.
2. Antigone on the other hand feels not only obliged by the moral and divine law to disobey Kreon's blasphemous order, but she also cannot bear the thought of leaving her beloved brother's body unburied to be eaten by insects, crows and voltures. And it is this love and sorrow that gives her the strength to ignore her tyrant uncle's wrath. I think your first question can only be answered by careful study of the play.
my school is doing antigone right now and i hope no one uses this to make their choice on if they are going to come or not, i feel they would choose no
This is not a great performance of the scene - I think that it lacks pace and energy; also, both Ismene and Antigone need to be more emotional. They've just lost thier two brothers - I think they would definitely be more upset! Also, isn't this scene supposed to take place at night outside Thebes - the mood onstage should be more tense and secretive, as Antigone is plotting to defy her uncle, Creon (or at least that's what's it's like in the Sophocles version of Antigone).
If im honest there's something missing from this Antigone. Something doesnt seem right, i think it's the lack of her emotion. Im glad i wasnt there as an audience because it seems abit boring.
Antigone doesn't seem like a strong character here, she is ment to be strong about her believe and ismene would be more fragile and scared dreading of what her sister as to say.
My high school is doing Antigone this winter. Although I am only in the Chorus, I am very excited. Our director is possibly going to modernize the show.
i am from greece.here in greek seniors high schools antigone of sofokles is a basic lesson and we learn it in ancient greek and we have to translate it into modern greek.so i know every detail of the act.first of all antigone and ismine are alone outside of the gates of the palace so antigone can tell to her sister about the commant of creon so the other girl doesn't fit there...
I feel like this lacks emotion. Isemene and Antigone know that they may never see each other again, and the actors talk so normally....This is Antigone's last chance to get Isemene on her side, and Isemene's last chance to get Antigone to stop before she forfeits her life. I wish we could see that from the actors. Method acting would have helped. Nice customes. Nice set. Smart Actors, with good talent.

sure a person of our day and age would feel nothing about such a matter, but it was different before! my golly do it justice! what a bore! the only thing that saves antigone is her voice--- and thats thanks to her genes not skills
thank you sooooooooo much i have antigone in my final exam and i was trying to find something has a relation with it like a play ; even if we study antigone in frensh i think this play will help

I need help!!!
1.how does the conflict of moral or divine law versus the rule of law develops in the play???
2.how do Antigone and her values represent moral or divine law?
3.how does the king and his values line up with the rule of law?
4.Is the king a strong leader, a tyrant, or both? how does he abuse his powers?
You guys would be a great big help for answering these questions!!! :)
