I've never heard Jason or Cliff ever do a live solo that was worth listening to, aside from playing the solos Cliff wrote (like Orion). Of course they're great bassists, but that doesn't mean that them doing an extended live solo is a good idea.

AND Robert has used Distortion and wah, but thats the thing, i like my basses to sound like bass, and when i hear Cliff i hear that Lead guitar type feel, but you get the bass feel as well. He plays his bass like Cliff burton playing a bass, not like a lead guitarist, because sometimes he doesn't play with the lead style, like for the melodic Orion solo. I'm a bassist i can tell when its bass or guitar.
