The gentlemans agreement was hammered out in the 70’s, when Germany’s Green Party wanted to impose speed limits on autobahns. They do keep the limiter on most exported cars but I had a '00 S4 that was limited to 143 in US because Audi was worried about lower octane gas here in the US.
That is only true for BMW and Merc. Porsche andf Audi for example never followed that rule and they were German.
Now though all euro cars short of the high priced exotics follow the regulation. C

I'd rather have a C6 Z06 with the LS7. With headers, you can get close to the power of the ZR1, plus you don't have to deal with the overheating and possible reliability issues with forced induction.
I'd love to have the all carbon body along with the front splitter and rear spoiler. I'd certainly dump those runcrap tires though and go with a coilover suspension.

I saw a review where the ZR-1 dyno'd 505 at the wheels. I have a buddy that has an '08 Z06 with just LG headers and it's puting out 498rwhp. Now.. That ZR-1 might've dyno'd low, but that's far from not being able to get close to ZR-1 numbers with the LS7 with just headers.
I don't care if it has a 5yr/100K warranty when you are either cutting your track days short or breaking down at the track because of forced induction. Besides, if GM found out that you were at the track, they might try to do everything that they can to avoid honoring that warranty.

This guys C6 Z06 dyno'd 498rwhp with just headers. Believe what you want. We're probably talking much less of a gap in hp once you factor in the heat soak issues of any FI car at the track.
Whatever on the filter. I have a Vararam on my C5 Z06 and it added next to nothing. I knew a filter wouldn't do anything, but figured the ram air would help. Not so.
About the warranty, I've never had any issues with bolt ons. I'm sure you would if they found out that you boosted it to 15psi.
I'm not saying that the LS7 is any more bulletproof than the LS9. You can have problems with any engine if you push it. I'm just saying that I've found FI cars to be more problematic at the track than NA cars.

I love the stupid argument between the GT-R and the ZR1 between people who don't even come close to owning one.
Both of them are very fast and great cars. I doubt any one of you, and even me, can even push a time close to 8 minutes on the Nurburgring.
That being said, I'd say the main advantage of the ZR1 is that it comes with a manual transmission and gives a very pure driving experience. The GT-R is a great car for semi-rich people that won't get them killed going into the first corner.

This is when tney were testing the pre-production car. You can see the camouflage on the hood.
I'd rather have a C6 Z06 with the LS7. With headers, you can get close to the power of the ZR1, plus you don't have to deal with the overheating and possible reliability issues with forced induction.
I'd love to have the all carbon body along with the front splitter and rear spoiler. I'd certainly dump those runcrap tires though and go with a coilover suspension.

I saw a review where the ZR-1 dyno'd 505 at the wheels. I have a buddy that has an '08 Z06 with just LG headers and it's puting out 498rwhp. Now.. That ZR-1 might've dyno'd low, but that's far from not being able to get close to ZR-1 numbers with the LS7 with just headers.

I don't care if it has a 5yr/100K warranty when you are either cutting your track days short or breaking down at the track because of forced induction. Besides, if GM found out that you were at the track, they might try to do everything that they can to avoid honoring that warranty.

This guys C6 Z06 dyno'd 498rwhp with just headers. Believe what you want. We're probably talking much less of a gap in hp once you factor in the heat soak issues of any FI car at the track.
Whatever on the filter. I have a Vararam on my C5 Z06 and it added next to nothing. I knew a filter wouldn't do anything, but figured the ram air would help. Not so.
About the warranty, I've never had any issues with bolt ons. I'm sure you would if they found out that you boosted it to 15psi.

I'm not saying that the LS7 is any more bulletproof than the LS9. You can have problems with any engine if you push it. I'm just saying that I've found FI cars to be more problematic at the track than NA cars.

I just did a google search and found a post from Jim Hall at Halltech. He was able to get 477rwhp out of a stock LS7 with just a tune. I tried to post a link, but yt must've rejected it because the post didn't show up. Oh well.
Of course, you're absolutely right about everything. ;) I've had LG headers on my car since nearly day one and NEVER had a problem with my warranty.
BTW.. If you don't think that you can still get heat soak issues with an intercooler, you're sadly misinformed.

and I know SEVERAL guys upping the boost level to 15psi and have had ZERO problems. The motor was specifically designed for the charger.
BTW I have seen and heard stories about the stock Z06 blowing their motors at the track. So it goes both ways. Dont think the Z06 is stronger or bulletproof.

ZR1's average dyno is 535rwhp. LG headers have been dyno'd on the Z06 and added around 35rwhp and 33rwtq. Far cry from a STOCK ZR1. Still about 70rwhp off and 70rwtq off.

I love the stupid argument between the GT-R and the ZR1 between people who don't even come close to owning one.
Both of them are very fast and great cars. I doubt any one of you, and even me, can even push a time close to 8 minutes on the Nurburgring.
That being said, I'd say the main advantage of the ZR1 is that it comes with a manual transmission and gives a very pure driving experience. The GT-R is a great car for semi-rich people that won't get them killed going into the first corner.

Idno if this is accurate.. but i read several articles, watched several videos and talked to the dealers and owners of both the zr1 and the gtr, and it seems that the corvette came out on top in speed, accelleration, breaking, cornering etc... not to mention the better looks... because the gtr to me looks like a scion raped a toaster and the gtr was the bastard child... but thats just me.
