  • I'm going to build one of these mofos so I can blast the house centipedes off the walls in my basement! Die you multi-legged bastards!

  • @ZombieMasterEdd25

There is a link in my video notes.

  • WARNING the price of balloons has now gone up due to inflation

  • Pretty strong beam dim the lights a bit or use a bit of smoke (not too much) to bring out the beam to be visible

  • this pownes kip kay

  • that is bad ass

  • Balloons: A threat worse than 8472, the Borg, and the Dominion.

  • LOL!! That is superb!!

  • Very very nice.

  • BAD. ASS. !!!!

  • DISPAREN PHASERS!!!!!

  • raising hell with those balloons, they'll never talk shit again

  • Balloons...scourge of the universe!

  • @GhibliFan1

Ha ha! Yeah, if we ever get attacked by balloons, I'll be ready...

It's just a demonstration, I didn't want to use somebody's arm for the demonstration...

  • That's so cool! The balloons pop instantly. In other video's, it takes seconds to pop a balloon.

  • I'm switching my blu-ray player from stun... to kill!

  • Mr Wizard?

  • holy shit! thats amazing!

  • wen the laser can pop balloons then popping an human eye even faster...

before you know it your sight is ruined for ever

  • amazing laser!

  • Give your enemies cancer! Burn them badly! Pop their balloons!

  • i want that i need that

  • Thats COOL!!!!!! My 100mW does nothing compared to that

  • also, video doesnt show proper beam focusing

  • why so noisy? i guess capacitors

  • Esto es impresionante!! I want one!! Hehe!

  • donde se puede comprar esoooooo

  • Usted tiene que instalar el láser de diodo, pero yo vender las otras partes. Ver mi enlace tutorial ...

  • Do you sell these? I would really like to purchase one from you! I don't quite have the skills necessary to build one yet, i've tried to build one of your "pocket pal" laser pointers, but i kinda messed up and the whole thing kinda just melted, haha.

    thanks,

    arthur

  • I sell the phaser as a 'Hot' option build...

Meaning, safety switch, driver and everything built, but no laser diode. You would have to get your own laser diode and install it to turn it into a laser.

Follow the link to my parts page from my tutorial linked in the video comments...

  • holy crap

  • wait, how is it that dangerous, i thought that 405 mw was class 3. class 3 is considered a laser pointer and only class 4, which this should be needs a safety switch on it.

  • 405 is the wavelength in nanometers which corresponds to the color of the laser. The laser is 465mW. Class IIIa are lasers with an output that does not exceed 4.5mW.

Class IIIb are lasers above 4.5mW but below 500mW. Class IIIb lasers can cause retinal scarring with direct exposure and thermal burns to organic materials (like skin).

Class IV lasers are above 500mW and are considered a fire hazard. With short wavelengths, tissue degeneration and photochemical damage to the eye may occur.

  • Also, the safety features required on lasers applies to lasers that will be "entered into commerce." Class IIIb (>5mW) Commercial lasers systems are required to have full CDRH certification which includes the implementation of various safety features including a key interlock, aperture attenuator, etc. The FDA also requires certain safety features for lasers to be imported into the USA.

  • Do you wear glasses when using this?, what type of harm can cause this? (eyes, skin..)

  • It can burn the skin badly, but instant damage to the eyes with a direct shot or direct reflection. In the video comments and 'more info', I have a link to proper eye protection...

  • That was fantastic, I must admit. I once tried making my own high-strength laser from a dvd player. I didn't figure it out. I would give it a go, but I think I'd blind myself.

  • I guess it's kind of a compliment that many think it's fake. That means that it is just that impressive! :)

But you guys need to check my tutorial link...

It is not fake. It is the most powerful DVD blu-ray laser diode currently available. Watch my other video in the 'video responses', that shows it lighting some flash paper.

It also shows the beam visibility...

  • si es una pistola es un verdadero laser de otencia que puede quemar..... e a i channel y aprende...... si los laser pueden quemar!

  • Not rice, beans or anything. Just a laser. See my tutorial...

The white substance you see in the video is a combination of the white power from the inside of the balloon, mixed with moisture (condensation) from blowing up the balloons. It's like white water drops flying off when the balloons pop...

  • fantastica

    mi piace !

  • I think that you have too much free time.

  • Ha ha!

... You could have a small point there... Lol...

  • esto es ilegal?

  • Not illegal to make yourself. It can be misused though. (just like a gun or a knife) And it would need FDA approval to be legal to sell in the U.S.

  • Very useful if you get attacked by balloons.

  • rofl

  • @HolleyPot LOL

  • lol

  • my mother was murderer by a group of ballons.... god bless this guy and his invention

  • hehehehehe very nice comment

  • owned videouploader

  • Or burglars and let'em completely blind, just differents points of views hehe

  • Yeah it's not fake... Lots of people have been popping balloons with lasers...

This is just the latest and most powerful blu-ray diode from a BDR-205 burner. That's why it is so powerful. You can see the beam in my attached 'video response'. And also you can see that it lights white flash paper as well!

I have a tutorial linked in the video comments for those who want to see how it is made...

  • Esta pistola y la casa de globos de la película UP! y me lo pasaría teta... :3

  • @Kucuu fue lo primero q pense xD

  • not fake. the laser components emit a high amount of energy (heat) because of the lens that narrows the beam.

you can get the laser kit anywhere online.

and people, it's not a weapon. it just heats up stuff from distances up to 25ft. THAT'S IT! It's like a flashlight but hotter and a bit dangerous. Don't burn yourself or point it in people's eyes, because then you'll definitely end up in jail.

  • @McDarwin1889 deja de provocar xDDDD que triste xD te metes en todos los videos de yonkis y los comentas con el rollo catalan para que se pique la peña...

  • psycho !!!!

  • haha, geil^^

  • Jajajaja, very nice and cool. Nice work!

  • Como mola ;)

  • does this mean lightsabers are real?

  • Soon enough!

The military has lasers that will actually track and shoot multiple missiles out of the sky!

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD I THINK A COUPLE OF MY BRAIN CELLS JUST FUCKING DIED !!1f vgdhusijjdhvcsazjsdcxszkajscv dxsasjdcfvcdsajsdcvcdssldfvcdsa. Oh lordy lordy lord.

  • Nicely done space hacker!

  • Trekies probably just popped a boner.

  • I know I did

  • I'm going balloon hunting. i'm gonna make little kids cry. lol

  • Lol, funny.

  • DO WANT! o_O

  • Woah, NERD HEAVEN!!!

  • Wow the power to stop balloons. Ugh.

  • damn it... :))

    go go gadget

  • that could easily be fake. let me get this straight, the beam is so hot that it pops the balloons? if so, that is pretty dangerous and awesome. i would like to know if this is real or not

  • It is real. There are plenty of lasers popping balloons. But this diode is from the latest blu-ray burner and is procucing 465mW's. So it pops them very fast!

It is also because of my 405-G-1 glass lens modification. Take a look at the video response that I posted to see the beam. (with smoke)

In that video, I show it igniting flash paper too!

See my tutorial link in the video comments. You will see that it is real...

  • @Tripooch it's real btw did you notice that all the balloons are black ..So they kinda suck the light. White balloon wouldn't never pop so easily

  • that was actually the first thing i noticed. im an observer, i see and analyze everything haha. that is why i dont believe everything i see right away. but after some thought, i do believe the video is authentic. all i said was that something like this could easily be faked.

  • Actually at this power a white balloon will pop too. Maybe not quite as easily. But did you notice in my other video that the flash paper is white? It burns white too!

Anyway, glad it is impressive enough for some to think that it may not be real! But it is...

  • it is impressive and im sure it would pop a white balloon almost just as easily

  • Dude! Thats crazy

  • with a violet laser at this power, they pop easily, trust me

  • @survivorevil yup. violet semiconductor lasers are most promising at all.

  • Make sure to also check out my other video of this build showing the beam! (with smoke)

Igniting flash paper and popping more balloons with beam visibility! :)

  • Interesting. The only thing that would've made the demo better is if you had a smoke machine, so that the laser could be seen traveling through the air. Still, thanks for posting.

  • I hear you... That would have been even better. I have a smoke machine but I didn't want to smoke up my house. I may make a 'beam shot' video out in the garage or something.

You can see a nice beam shot with smoke in my tutorial link!

  • thats awesome

  • Starwars today?

  • lol, you failed. its star trek.

  • Holy crap

The green women will love you. lol

    Cool stuff

  • That is cool.

  • AMAZING! Genius!

  • video of burning bugs, pls.

roaches, wasps, anything living, preferably w/compound eyes

  • Psyco detected

Maybe he should do it with you first, like aim right at your eyes and then your ass(guess you gonna like this part).

    Stupid fuck.

  • Thank you for setting me straight. I'm with Jesus now.

  • Wow, cool i want it, where i can get it?

  • Check the link in the video comments... :)

  • I want that? What about when you ait to skin? did it burns?

  • Ha ha... yes! It will burn your skin very fast! You won't do it again. Unless just for a split second, or out of focus. If focused to a pin point, it will burn bad...

  • Very cool! But don't forget to wear eye protection! Those lasers be dangerous to eyeballs...

  • tried reading a Blu-Ray disk with it? :D

  • FUXDBACKUPGUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He's my friend!

  • NERDVANA

  • wow

    it seems dangerous

  • Looks really cool :)

  • Man that is pretty badass! I always love to see people take off with cool ass ideas like this! I want one now.

  • Tesla would be proud :3

  • hahahaha, damn true

  • @kforrest1 I believe he wasn't going to ask you to get laid. :D

  • @kforrest1 what's that got to do with anything..

  • Sorry, I removed that idiot comment from kforrest1...

  • this is nothing new people have been popping balloons with lasers since the beginning of time.

very nice set up with the phaser gun though

  • Yes... Only 'new' in that it is the highest power blu-ray diode (from a 12X blu-ray drive) that is available at the moment. (from blu-ray DVD burners)

465mW's baby! Better have eye protection...

  • @jayrob94561 oh yeah i cant wait to get my 12x. word on the street is hemlockmike had an entire watt of 405nm!!!! thats gonna vaporize the glasses off my face!

  • They were talking about and hoping for 1W soon, but not yet...

Mike, and Dave as well, are both pushing their 12X builds at over 600mW's!

Mike is 'pushing' a FlexDrive, but Dave is using a custom DDL driver that I made for him...

I could also push my 12X phaser at a higher power. But I am of the more conservative mind on this build. I want it to last... Trust me, 465mW's it plenty powerful!!!

  • Itstheclaw. There's nothing new about people who go around posting condescending remarks over everything they see just to make themselves feel better about themselves.

  • it was directed at the people who think this is fake so get off it.

Besides, how els am I going to make myself feel better?

  • try aiming at your PS3 :)

  • so it's not strong enough to damage the rest of your house is it?

  • I would usually call this a BB gun but the last balloon is in front of a glass object.

If you run any light source through a strong enough magnifying glass you can break a balloon.

  • Very impressive! I own the same phaser and i have build a red laser in it but it´s not strong enough for this effect. Where did you get your laser from?

  • so i could use this to smoke a bowl??

  • It's 465mw?! Any people yelling fake, try pointing this at your eyes.

  • Which, sadly, don't make the nice popping noise when the retina burns out.

  • Not fake... It's a 12X blu-ray burner. The diode cost over $200 dollars just for the diode. (harvested from a BDR-205 drive)

The white stuff: When you blow up a balloon, a bunch of condensation forms on the inside of the balloon. Plus there is some white powdery stuff lined along the inside of these balloons. Probably to keep them from sticking together while in the bag...

When they popped in the video, it is like 'spit' flying. That's what you saw...

  • OK, finally one possible (and well mentioned) reason for my thought about that, what has been shown in the video.

    I'd think about that....

  • Yep... just take a look at my tutorial link in the video comments. You will see that it is real...

  • Hello people, BB guns? Are you fucking serious? Pen-sized lasers powerful enough to burn skin or blind you can be purchased for $100-200. All this guy did was modify the casing and switches to make a (super sweet) phaser.

  • That's a BB gun, pal.

  • Very cool!

  • are you people stupid? of course it pops the balloon, its a laser. Sure its not gonna kill you, but a powerful enough laser can pop a balloon.

  • SET BLASTERS TO STUN!

  • Glad it's impressive enough for you to think that!

Try looking at the tutorial linked in my video comments... Not fake!

  • yeah....you can hear the ricochet.....put nice vid anyway

  • Trust me, there is no way I would let anyone shoot a BB gun at my bar dude...

Have you looked at my tutorial of this build linked in the video comments? This is the real deal man... Do get proper eye protection if you do this!

What you are hearing is the sound of the rubber balloon hitting the tile floor after it pops. If it were a BB gun, you would hear a lot louder noise. You can even hear my switch click on and off when I arm, and disarm the laser...

  • Thats awesome! I want this too!

  • Can you make one from TNG or Voyager?

  • As long as there is room for a decent size heatsink, and a decent battery supply, it can be done... I have only done this model. Actually, I modified a Diamond select model, but I don't like that one. No room for a good heatsink. And only room for a single 10440 in the handle...

To see a list of my other kits, Google 'jayrob build kits'! :)

  • What is making those balloons pop? Is it hot under that laser?

  • The 12X blu-ray laser diode is the most powerful blu-ray diode currently available in a blu-ray DVD burner... This build is putting out 465mW's of power.

That is what is popping the balloons instantly. It will of course light matches and burn flash paper just as fast at maybe a closer distance. (like 5') But could light a match at 20' in about 3 seconds...

Proper eye protection is needed! (405nm)

  • Very cool. Nice bit of work.

  • HOLY SHIT.

I need to make myself one of these. Is this just kipkay's build?

  • Only the host is like KipKay's...

The build is completely different. See my tutorial link in the video comments! :)

  • ce cacat

  • i want one!

    payment in advance of course

  • Just to remind everybody of the proper eye protection needed for something like this...

And I cannot sell one with a laser installed. I can sell the build with driver and everything else, but not the laser installed. You would have to get your own laser diode, and complete the assembly to turn it into a laser...

  • haha nice toy.

  • Set phaser's to stun!!!

You know, if the guys in red had these, they may have stood a better chance on their away missions.

    This was awesome!! 5 stars

  • "Phasers" No apostrophe unless it's a contraction.

  • lol, thanks for the correction. That's what I get for rushing to post comments while at work. =)

  • He's not kidding about "proper eye protection recommended".

A laser like that could easily bounce off any reflective surface -- like a screwdriver or a faucet -- and blind you or someone else. Permanently.

Do not attempt this unless you know what you are doing.

  • So, we have a phaser! Now, let's make a lightsaber :D

  • How much would you charge to make and ship one?

  • I don't sell ones with lasers installed. You would have to put the laser diode in yourself, but I do have heatsinks, lenses, and the EzFocus adapter that I make and sell. See my tutorial link in the video comments! :)

  • man, is this real or was someone back there poopin those ballons?...i guess ill never truly know...

  • It's real... You can see a lot of balloon popping laser videos and match lighting and stuff...

But this 12X diode is the highest power from a blu-ray DVD at the moment. Soon there will come even stronger ones! :)

  • What do you mean by "even stronger ones" and that smiley? Should we be afraid? Better start building my own personal portable deflector shield, just in case...

  • Lol...

Just happy that there will be stronger ones to melt more things with! :)

  • I can honestly say that Jayrob isn't lying. The 12X diode, is quite powerful.

There is nothing fake about this video.

    Congrats Jay
