Dang. This video makes it seem like it takes forever for a nuclear missile to reach it's target. Before watching this, I thought that whole missile hits something, but apparently those were just rockets. O_O.

@arviagent13 Actually this video makes it look like it takes less time for a ICBM to reach it's target then it actually does.. The actual time (give or take) is around 30 minutes launch to detonation. And it depends on the missile system as to how much of the missile reaches the target. The warhead is the only part that needs to make the whole trip.. Also... Most (if not all) ICBM's today have multiple warheads and a decoy package (not shown in this rendering)

(closer to 5000 miles... if you really wanna know look it up)

Boost Phase: 3 to 5 minutes

Mid-course Phase: approx. 25 minutes

Reentry Phase: 2 minutes

The decoy package actually called "penetration aids" may be any or all of the following.

Aluminum chaff, Metallic-coated balloons, and full-scale warhead decoys..

The idea being if the enemy blows up the fake ones the real ones make it.
