  • When I was around 5 or 6 I had brothers that I looked up to so I always wanted to be like them even though I knew I was a girl and the fact that my mom never bought me cute clothes the puzzle just fit I guess but when I started hitting 10 I really didnt like myself or the way I looked but now that I'm 12 I act like the prettiest girl in the world I know it's not the most accurate thing(boys like it). The prenciple is work what you got and you'll be so happy with yourself

  • I'm a post-op TS, operated on in Thailand 13 years ago. Let me say that some of us know about the time we come out of diapers that we're in the wrong body or have the wrong organ. I was one of those, but some don't realize they're a TS until much later in life. And cross-dressers often turn out to be TS's going through a phase on their way. Only about 1 in 5 gets the surgery, for such things as lack of money, fear of a scalpel, family pressure, love of a partner who won't understand, fear, etc.

    Put the Beret on your head and jilt and move it until it fits comfortably on your head and the brim is parallel. If it does not fit immediately then you hold it in cold water for 10 seconds then in relatively hot water for another ten. After that put it on your head and leave it for half and hour while it moulds to your head.

  • @PaintbrushBristles Being transgender is not a disease (not something you catch) and given she's expressing her true gender so young likely they will medically intervene and she will ONLY go through the puberty that matchs her correct gender - girl, by using hormone blockers and female hormones. Therefore she will likely present as a girl quite well and no one thinks she is gay. And if so .....so what?!! Gay is fine too!!

  • when i was a kid i wanted to be a boy. i always felt like a boy, i hated dolls and loved mud and fighting. i hated that i was a girl. and similar to what she said, i had a girls body and a boys brain. but no, this is not a story about me having my dream and changing into a boy. i actually did grow out of it...but im still no a very girly kind of girl. i'm just saying i can kind of relate to her feelings :)

  • @keruchan483 fighting and mud are not boy related same as dolls are not girl related.at least not really.If you think about it kids need both cause each toy teaches them sth different.I think we all have both boy and girl sides and usually one dominates the other but they can co-exist and it's perfectly normal.I'm a girl and I used to fight (and beat) boys but I also liked dolls.I didn't want to be a boy cause I didn't think I needed it to do what I liked.to me it was just normal.

She's beautiful the was she is, and it makes my heart flutter when people are so sure of who they are but I think she's too young.

  • @talldudegrad12 We know at younger ages than she is right now what our gender is so it's not too young to express one's truer gender. But for now it's not a life long choice and there's plenty of time for her to change her mind if her develop leads that way. And for some gender non-conforming kids that happens.

    However, she is years away from the next steps of using hormone blockers, then homones (female) then later on for any surgery, so has plenty of time to re-choose.

  • @NewYorker227 Very fair question. The most polite and appropriate gender pronoun to use is the one that matches the gender presentation & gender identity of a person. Conversely speaking, for the sake of perspective, how would you like it if someone referred to you by the opposite pronoun as to who you say/know you are as far as your gender?

    Another way to view it is our gender idenitity/presentation is more public and relevant, and our biology is our private medical concern.

  • I hope she keeps that confidence and understanding of herself through out her teen years. It's gonna be a rough road for her, but she shouldn't have to apologize for who she is. Maybe the next generation will be more accepting than ours was (I hope).

  • @amollo01 Since she is starting so young and with accepting parents I think she will have a far better time of being a girl in her teens that most transgender folks have by not transitioning early. The next generation now have a greater number of more accepting parents, but then there are the conservative bigots that will never come around. But more and more success stories are getting out there, and with less shame involved.

  • @hanjesse31 the thing is you can't decide. you don't wake up one day and say OK from now on I'm gonna be a girl! some people find out at the age of 2 (that's usually when kids become aware of their gender).

    Be aware, as Jazz well pointed out, that one's gender doesn't always match one's sex, even though we in socially speaking often assume they are the same, and that the term gender refers to both (mostly because the term "sex" has been used for the act of coitus in social speaking so much, that we can't that term for body parts too often).

    But pronouns belong to gender identity, not body parts, in discussing transgender issues.

  • @DABRAVEHARTMAN One can't lose something they never really had. Most transgender people have to playact a gender role in order not to be harrassed and beat up. And are extremely sad or depressed doing it. Once they let that facade of manliness or womaness go, and not harrassed they become happier,freer, and more true to their inner beings. Plus they tend to thrive instead of merely survive.

  • @TheCanadianCrafter If you view the experiences of the parents, nearly all the time they tried many things to get their kid to gender conform, Then when the child reaches a critical point, even thinking of sucide, it becomes more apparent that it's not a phrase or something you can stop, or even beat out of a child, though many have indeed tried.

    The idea behind blaming the parents is the notion that transgender condition doesn's truly exist, and that is simply wrong.

  • I'm studying transgender at school and studied her case. She does have a penis still she is now 11 and she wants to get hormone blockers and then later take estrogen. This has nothing to do with the media. Ever since she was about 2 she just wanted to be a girl. I truely believe you are born that way. It's not a choice.

  • This is beautiful! Not only the fact that she understands & embraces that she's different, but also that the parents are accepting & embracing as well. Being "different" can be hard at times because people can be cruel & accepting but learning to live yourself for who you are at such a young age definitefly helps us become stronger & more confident. :) This child made my hear smile!

  • @joshman1956 Really? You're using Freud as proof of your argument? Any psychologist would tell you that most of Freud's ideas weren't based on any scientific research.

    Also, any psychologist would tell you that gender and sex can be completely different in some cases and that gender (what one thinks they are) is far more important than sex (biological). In fact, it is better for their mental health to live life as what they feel they are, not what their body is.

    Actually they learned through autopsies that you can tell a person's gender by their brain. The size of certain lobes is much different in males than females. Transgendered people were observed to have the 'wrong brain for the wrong body' basically. I get what you're saying, but recent research has shown a lot of freud's theories were either wrong or partially wrong. A friend of mine is transgendered and since she became female, she's been so much happier. Feels normal

    you have a human brain, possibly more female hormones but you should take testosterone and stay the gender that you were born to be.

    go to a psychologist and tell them you need help in changing your thought of thinking you are a girl.
