Plus how many of those people were drunk by the time the headlining band started? It's just sad and awful, and extremely unfortunate. The circumstances aligned in the worst possible way.
These videos have got us talking around here about what we would do in that situation. Probably a conversation most of the people who were in the fire never had, which is why they didn't think to pour their drink on their shirt and use it to cover their nose and mouth while crawling to an alternate exit. An experiment showed that visibility would have been down to zero by 1 min 12 seconds after the fire started. Carbon monoxide would've been the hardest thing to escape in there.
@merriman555 There seems to be an awful lot of critics shooting their mouths off about this video. Youtube has millions more videos, so if you don't like one, you can always watch another one. I can't believe how disrespectful a lot of you people are. You weren't there and you will never know what and why things were the way they were. I commend the person that documented this tragedy.
@merriman555 What can they do? Have you ever fought a fire????? Do you not have a clue that they couldn't go any further? What is wrong with you and where is your common sense? You should be ashamed of yourself. You have no idea what fighting a fire is like. And you certainly do not have a clue as to why they could not get past the front door. Keep your mouth shut until you educate yourself on the matter.
Watching the FD working on the scene here is pretty disappointing. You have dozens of guys working around a very unsafe structure with master stream operations ongoing. I understand that early on it was known that there were many, many victims but recovery operations should have waited a bit longer. Its not worth risking your career or life to remove dead bodies. Sorry to sound so indifferent because I'm not, but use common sense guys.
It was absolutely horrifying to watch the actual fire video of those people stacked up in the doorway just inches away from safety and they burned to death anyway. Watching this and knowing those firemen where pulling the bodies of those same people out of the doorway is just awful. What a job. Olauf1, I am very sorry to hear you lost friends in this tragedy.
I'm haunted by the pictures of the people that are stacked up in the doorway, trying to get out. God rest their souls. terrible tragedy. Just terrible.
That's one thing they usually don't show in the news are the bodies being recovered, whether it's a plane crash or a building fire. I couldn't imagine picking up charred bodies and body parts while cleaning the place up. Fire fighters have to have a very strong stomach and a thick outer skin layer.
Well, I agree. But firemen actually do have a high suicide rate, and spousal abuse rate. I did a report on this and used morbidity and mortality weekly as a source. Oh, and alchoholism and drug usage are high. I'm not condemning them, it's just a damn hard job on all levels.
Hey Olauf, About how long after the fire began was this footage taken. It is much more quite in an eerie way. Just wondering at what time did you capture this from the 11:10 start of the fire???
I've watched all your vids of this fire, more than once.
I don't see how you can state in the description of each one that 'you had no idea anyone got hurt' when victims were being wheeled about on gourneys all the while you recorded.
I understand however that no-one could have imagined the horror that was indside the front doorway and you could never have realised the scope of this tragedy at the time.
Not meaning to be a jerk and I did find your vids interesting.
i fixed the semantics you seemed to be concerned about. i used hurt because i felt that died, murdered, slaughtered were pretty strong words seeing how i lost some good friends in this fire. i was just trying to be respectful.
forgive me for not understanding what you really meant. I don't think died or perished would have been disrespectful terms.
I can imagine at the time you would hope that no one had perished and you could certainly never have imagined how horrible the toll really was.
This was staggering news far from there. I can't imagine how terrible it was in your town and to have lost friends is even more unimagineable. I meant no disrespect. I just wondered if you really didn't realise people were hurt.
Thank god you were far enough away and cam was shaky so you didnt film the horror of that night. (In the front door) We all know now what those firefighters were doing at that door and I can only commend them with the highest regard.. BLESS YOU MEN for doing all that you did that night, and for all you could do!..
For all of you who don't get the providence journal, Within the last few days, a memeriol park plan was unveiled, with plans for a 100 string wind harp. RIP those 100.
I was wondering if this is the same fire as the infamous picture of all the people clogging the doorway where everybody's hanging halfway out? In any case, I am sorry for your losses.
i'm studying to be a firefighter in Los Angeles C.A. and i saw the complete video from a person that had the camera inside.... this was a horrible fire.. my sympathies to those who lost anyone in this fire
yes, i lost my first girlfriend and at least 4 other people i grew up with. i was not there for the concert, i was supposed to go but something else came up.i oun a video production co and i lived 5 min from there. i filmed it because i spent a lot of time there.
Yeah? We are just as freaking guilty by watching this! Yes, including me! I am watching this, and I feel like crap, knowing that 100 people, or more have died since this happened there. I wonder if it is not too late for me to make another donation for the families of those who died as a result of this!
"Losers film fires"? What a stupid comment. Do losers also film Twin Towers collapsing? Do you know how many videos there are of that event happening? Get real Jukey. This is real life not some game where you have to follow some set of rules you make up.

They can't get in. There's a pile of bodies blocking the door and apparently the bodies were fused together. Basically melted.

It looks like people were pulled out alive well after the fire teams got there. Is that right?
