I saw that show several times. I enjoyed the show very much even if I think that many things in it are very bad and absolutely not necessary. But I've seen many other shows and I have to say that most of them are not as good as Billy Elliot. Chicago is a disaster, Mary Poppins is boring, Hairspary and Mamma Mia are very good but... something is missing. And Billy Elliot has that special thing...

Saw the show last year in New York, and then exactly one year later in London. It's a terrific show. But it's funny what you remember, what you forget and how there are small differences in the two performances. Everyone should see it.  Was especially happy to see lots of young people at the two performances; the next generation of fans!

Saw this performance with this cast in New York and will see it again in Dallas tomorrow night with a new cast. Winner of 10 Tony Awards and rated best musical in 50 years by a leading arts magazine. The boys dancing as Billy are genius performers, the story extremely emotional, and it will excite every feeling inside you that is possible.

I urge you to experience this performance. It will be a highlight of your entire life and you will cherish it always. Great for kids.

@jennavie246 @carmencapel69 The way the plot is handled is good, and some of the characters (dance teacher & grandmother for instance) are very well crafted, and given decent songs. The show has quite a few clunkers throughout which make no sense when isolated from the show. And "Angry Dance" is pointless, and the choreography is hard to pull off in character (see Tony Awards perf. of that song). It's easily one of Elton John's weakest scores.

Billy Elliot is okay. Not great, not spectacular, just okay. The music, for the most part, doesn't draw you in, the characters are mostly two-dimensional, and the theme of "believe in yourself no matter what" is a decades-old cliche that abounds in both musicals and movies. The choreography and acting are weak in quite a few places. All in all, this would have been better served as a play.

I´ve seen the musical twice now and I laughed and cried .... I´ve seen Phantom of the Opera ( many times ) , Miss Saigon and many others .. They´re all great and a tribute to my city of London . BUT Billy Elliott is the best i´ve ever seen .. totally stunning .. The young guys that play Billy are out of this world ... To answer a previous question , the young man is Liam Mower .

It is about a kid wanting to dance. The play is a musical, it's really spectacular. It's one of my favorites. The movie is good also, it's just not a musical. The musical numbers in the play really add to the whole experience.
