  • I have a 2010 drz 400 and the bike bike did lack traction but it wasn,t the tyres it was the suspension. Spung to your weight and revalved and shimed also a 3mm lenghten on the rear shock the bike hooked up better with a bald tyre than before with a brand new one. i also put on 1 1/2 inch bar raisers and pro taper r/c high and set them a little forward(total around 3 to 4 inchs taller). now the bike is a different machine and super easy to ride.

  • i have a drz 400 2000 kick start model,, two brothers racing pipe ,after market fat bars ,,it goes well ,,luv it on the trails,, at the end of the day you buy a bike suited to wat u want to do,, who gives a fuck what you ride as long as at the end of the day ya go out and have fun,, wat lifes about,,,ride on...............

  • Retarded "review", comparing it's looks to a sports bike... The DRZ WOULD be a great bike, but it's just lacking the power. Tis a shame, i'd buy one if they would just beef it up a little. I'll stick with my XR650R until then!

  • Love the way these two have absolutely the dumbest points of view and total lack of ability to explain the bikes features without always going the negative on it. Man this is a not a race bike, not a motorcross bike, not an ultra high performance bike they say. It is a great design, well engineered and time tested and proven FUN machine, totally reliable and very affordable.Good real world bike

For your info, I am good lookin' (well hung too) but not interested in their show. When you say you've heard them say negative reviews many times, THAT'S MY F'#@KEN POINT ISN'T IT STUPID? They struggle to review it without poo pooing on it all the time. Some people are best not opening their mouth, coz it shows others what goes on in their head!

    Also, If i was to buy a bike and I am 172.5cm (5ft7.5") and I found Aprilia pegaso 650Trail very comfortable for my height and it's not a heavy bike for me to go around the city and to the bush. So, which bike should i go for, Suzuki DRE650, 400 or the Pegaso 650Trail?

    Any suggestion welcome.

  • I have the old agbike with suspension & BB & it's a more than capable trailbike as well as some club level MX if you want.

    I raced Finke on it & the old ag bike handled that fine & was more than capable of a top 50 finish.

    It would be a better test against the MX orientated bikes with the crap Bridgestone tyres replaced with some MX tyres like the other bikes run.

    The Std Gritty ED02/Ed03 tyres are the worst dirt tyres I have ever ridden on would be worth easy 5 seconds a lap or more.

  • @GodsOfWrestling 450's are race bikes, also have a lower top speed, and the drz will easily hit top speed in a quarter, i do it on mine all the time haha. It woulda been great to see, i definantly know what theyre talking about with the front tire, mines a little worn (new back) and i cant keep it hooked up for anything on gravel, just washes out all the time

  • i think the old DRZ got a bit of a rough go here...de restrict the exhaust....drop the gearing.....and there a good bike....they fairly get up and go....especially if you re jet them.....As a trail bike there great....if you look when the fro rides it, its ALOT faster than when the other 2 guys ride it......

    YOUR DRZ will do +/- 10hp!

  • Go educate yourself at Akrapovic and have a look at the dyno charts for a tuned and piped 09 EFi kx450f - Besides if you read what I said, I said it will do 48hp with the $1000 pipe!

    This 400 will do LESS than 41hp at the WHEEL and would weigh in at GIANT 260lbs (120kg) Carry that over a log or 20

    A KTM200exc (96kg) WILL have more HP than this 400 (120kg) and cant drop a valve or need them replaced EVER

    If you dont have a better come back dont bother responding.

  • You`ve got no idea at all about this engine, its the drzE version ( evolution ) with orginal 49 hp.

    you can´t compare a 200exc repair-bike with a very maintainable high tec engine.

    sure, the drz isnt powerful like an exc but you dont have to spent thousands of dollars in to keep it runing, the drz just runs, runs and runs.

    thats why we love this bike!

  • RMZ450 as tested by MotoUSA and published by them. Akropovic has dyno's on them all CRF KXF ++

    I own the 200 = Son and the 300 = Mine

    I have owned and raced a LOT of two stroke and have ALSO owned the CRF!!

    Repair bills for the 2 strokes = $0

    The CRF was sold INSIDE 12 MONTHS FROM NEW!!!!!

    If you ride the DRZ or RMZ like a OLD WOMAN they will both last for while...Give them revs and the POS will die ASAP and WILL cost $1000+ for rebuild inside months.

  • All dyno's for bikes are done at the wheel!!!!

    Requires a specialized dyno and jigs to measure HP off the crank on a bike!

    Crank figures are almost always calculated backwards on a CALCULATOR with a 12% differential to WORK OUT a approximate figure from a normal dyno you fool.

    Who takes their motor out and has jigs made for a dyno that does NOT exist in your city to find out how much HP it has?

    As for the 200 Yep it nails a KTM450exc 0 to 60mph every time. Son has done that over and over!

    We ride rivers, rocks and ledges where a 180lb 200 will out class a 230+lbs 450 on ANY day. And you will NEVER do 60mph on the rocks!!!!

    As for repair bills I have owned 2 stroke Enduro bikes for YEARS and never spent a $ EVER!

    Why do you think a 2 year old 450 is worth nothing on trade in and a 200 or 300 is close to what you bought it for on the open market.

    You still see YZ80's from the 80's still running and making the owner happy

    A YZ250 COMPLETE TOP END OFF EBAY IS LESS THAN $100

    Rebuild in LESS THAN 45mins in the backyard.

    You cant even buy the valves required for a rebuild for a RMZ @ $50+ EACH = $200+ AND BEST DONE BY A PRO EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS Also need

    When you change the valves you MUST change the springs! gaskets & springs on top of that LOL

    Even a OIL change on a CRF will cost $20 if done by the book - The book specifies a oil filter change on every oil change = $20 + OIL!

    Why would anybody buy a bike a MODERN 250/450 if they were not going to race the bike The rebuilds and maint on them are unbelievable! Running cost is 10X higher than any 2 stroke and requires TLC ALL THE TIME!

    It is NOT normal to repair a new bike for at least 3 to 5 years

    3 to 5 years with $0 expense

    Enduro bikes will lug along the bottom as hard as any 4 stroke with the added option of low flying if need be. $0 cost and < $150 rebuilds once every couple of years.

  • While Im laying the boot in - Here's one more for you...

    My 14 year old son on a 08 KTM200 WHOOPS Adults on 450's 0 to close to 100kmh (Garmin) in straight line across a paddock!

    Done that so many times that nobody bothers to do this anymore - Its a running joke! (10ish bike lengths at 50kmh and even at a 100ish kmh)

    A KLX400 is NOT a performance bike its a hybrid road sort of trail bike NOT a performance bike AT ALL!

    IT WOULD HAVE NO HOPE EVER against a 200 never mind a worn CR250

  • Yes but the CR250 has powerband that should give the CR some more boot.

  • The bigger the 2 stroke the less power band it has!

    65sx has 0 power @ 9000rpm but all the power at 11000rpm

    YZ85 has 0 power @ 6000rpm All at 10000rpm

    CR500 will punch power out from the instant it is gassed at 1000rpm to max rpm at 5600rpm one solid hit all the way

    The 300exc will do pretty much do the same. Pull from 1000rpm through to 8000rpm

    YZ250 has less power band than an 85 BUT IT HAS A BIGGER HIT - wider band

    Thats why they do race a YZ250 in Enduro (bigger spread of power)

    21hp from a tiny 85cc motor is a fairly big ask

    CRF150R=20hp 14500rpm

    Dyno shows a 85 creates more torque than a 150R

    trIAls BIKES DO NOT HAVE A HIT AT ALL

    320cc with a 28mm carb

    300exc with a wild / mild button makes it a very easy bike to ride Best of both worlds

    It is a matter of choosing how much you want to spend on a sport every year on repair bills Give me a 2 stroke that cant bend/drop a valve

  • i was wondering if anyone could tell me is this bike worth makeing road leagal because i want to doo a bit of touring to some rough places but need to no will i have to change to road tyeres to get to theis places like u do with some bike (i.e is it good on the road as well as off with out changein tyres ????????????)

  • I currently own a drz400 it is a bit of a handful on the road with dirt tyres but if u get semi road and dirt tyres u should b right, and full reg u usualley need two mirrors and full indicators ETC

  • Good bike for the price, softer ride and heavier than wr and crfx (no good for jumping). I'm doing a lot of trails now days so I put a 13 front sprocket to have more torque,

    Thinking of buying a crf250x which is lighter than any 400 or 450 on this trails and have good response

  • It's a trailbike and does everything well, not exceptional, just well. Very capable in the scrub, but you have to spend big dollars if you want it to go anything like an enduro bike like a CRF, WR or EXC. They really have taken the place once occupied by the trusty XR's, and are really well priced new.
