  • I have Green too but mines badly translated English! :D

  • Pokémon Green is like Pokémon Red and Blue, right?

  • interesting how in japan all 3 were the same game but in America they changed it.

  • omg nice how did you get pokemon green:D?

  • damn will you all just shut the fuck up about wich game came first It doesn't matter what matters is that they came out and there awsome

  • Squirtle's tail looks like it's coming out of its leg.

  • venusaur looks like its been crushed by the plant on top of it

  • OMG the music and the graphics...............omg this brings me back such good memories. i love the new games now but still.

  • my pokemon green will be coming in the mail soon

I hope its legit and not a fake

  • Haha seeing professor oak and japanese letters made the think. "Harro my name is-a Proffesor Oaku."

  • MY GOD WHO FUCKED UP BULBASUAR!?

  • red and green was the first games. they remake the graphics for Blue and then used that version for the english ver. of red and blue.yellow was for the anime series

  • I can decipher some of that

  • Go to serebii (.net/green)

look there for the info you need on green version and stop complaining about who is right and wrong.

  • SORRY AND RED!!!

  • THE FIRST FUCKING GAME WAS GREEN

  • Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green were the very first Pokemon games. Later, Japan made a Blue version, which had better graphics than the original Red and Green. This better graphics Blue version is what the American Red and Blue versions have been developed out of. Pokemon Yellow came later as a special edition in honor of the Pokemon anime. This is why the Pokemon sprites in this Green version look so different, and this is how the American versions of Pokemon came to be.

  • @LegoLink5 the first game wasn't yellow

the first were red and blue

yellow was a redo for the originals with pikachu added as your starter

  • @Derywyll Pokemon Red and Green were first then Blue >.>

  • if i were to download this for an emulator, would i be able to translate it?

  • the pokemon look completely different than that of red and blue

  • i neeeeed this for my pokemon game collection!

  • the first pokemon game wow that fucking awsome! i have one as well X3

  • Translation for overseas sales must have been a programing nightmare for GameFreak. Didn't they have to do the text from scratch all over again?

  • @indigograves

They actually had to make the game from scratch. This was because the code in the original games was very fragile because it had been developed over 6 years.

  • @MeVsTheWorldpt1 Nope, it was red and green first...then they were remade as red and blue...

  • oh really? thats cool.

    learn something new everyday....

i dont c y my previous comment was deleted

    lol

    but ty for the info

  • pokemon green is only a japanese game. so ya...

  • I need to learn japanese...

  • Pretty Cool **** video. Yes, it's all in Japanese people, so you most likely won't understand it. And why do people keep leaving the same

comment as other people have before them; explaining their version/ understanding of the release of the games? Enough; we get it already.

Just read the comments and stop asking the same questions. Think of this as a Q&A. Thank you.

  • Dude shut the fuck up!! That's why their called comments.....Right?!

  • @AlmostMiku

America's Red and Blue are the eqivalents to Japan's Red and Green. They're really no different.

  • actually there is, for the red & blue USA gamed, they made the "caves" a little easier, because in pokémon green, it was hard to find your way out.

in pokémon green you can also buy HP UP and such in the markt stores, in red & blue USA, you can only find them on the floor with an item finder.

Also Mewto is on another place in pokémon green & normally you could also catch mew there? You could catch all 150 pokémon in green I thought, but their locations are all different.

  • I go on...

In poké R/B USA you can also catch mew, but it has to go through with a "glitch".

There are quite differences between the R/B USA versions then poké Green. ^^

  • @badgraphix

Furthermore that explains the names for the 'remakes' for the GBA FireRED and LeafGREEN not OceanBLUE or something.

  • im so pissed that green wasnt released here

  • There's no way this is a serious translation. What the heck were these people on?

  • wait so blue came after red but in america they came toghter does that mean blue is a little more advanced?

  • so first it was pokemon green but only in japan then in the us they released red and blue? why didnt they release green in the us

  • red and green were released in japan at the same time. then came blue and yellow.

  • i just bought pokemon green for 20 bucks

  • if u look at the sign really closely, it does looks like the signs from Gold/Sliver/Crystel if u go to Kanto, same thing with the block

    HG/SS F.Y.I XD

  • because we had blue and they didnt. i guess to make it more unique. but japan did recieve blue version a year after red and green release through a limited edition event. at that time there was no point in giving america green cuz silver and gold were already starting to be made

  • yeah, but since china isnt fair they didnt lol.

  • damn china

  • Japan.

  • so green has same pokemon as blue?

  • nope. they have different pokemon, like 1 or 2 different. thats why yellow was released, to fix that problem.

  • not green

  • Right. It's possible to change the color of the game at the "Gameboy" screen by pressing right or left. I haven't seen anyone else talk about doing it, but this guy may have.

  • Maybe he downloaded a black and white version of it.

  • ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID!? You dumb sack of SHIT!!

  • @GodzofConquer Wow don't be an asshole! It was just a question

  • holy shit....break baby. calm down.

  • I had this is English. :P Sold it for loads.

  • i recon it was a beta

  • I have the english version of this game on my PsP :D

  • how?

  • Custom firmware and piratebay :D

  • How does this differ in gameplay from Red and/or blue?

  • The original 2 Pokémon games were Pokémon Red and Green in Japan. Blue fixed some bugs that were in Green and added some things. Blue was rare in Japan, though and only available through mail-order. Blue had already been released by the time they started selling Pokémon in the US, and, since it was a better version, it, rather than Green, was sold here alongside Red.

  • the 2 originlas were red and green

when green came to america they changed the name to blue

thats the wonder of game producers

  • no... no... no..

Green came first. People hated it. They made a red version. People loved it. They demanded for a blue. So blue came out. So green isn't blue. Besides, the box art has Venusaur on it. So.....There are 4 1st generation games.

  • 4 first gen?

  • Green, Red, Blue, Yellow. In that chronological order.

  • oh! i forgot about yellow

    thanks for clearing this up

i never was very sure my anwser was correct XD

  • Red and Green were the first to come out, then they made Blue. When they released them out side of Japan what we got we got Red and Blue, but they were based of of the Blue version in Japan. So yes Green isnt Blue but Red isnt Red either. The only difference between the original Red & Green and Blue is the graphics and the Data capacity. Also not 100% sure but I dont think Mew was implemented in the originals, it wasnt till Blue and Yellow in Japan.

  • why did they hate the green vers? i imagine it would be a big hit in the US/Canada back in 1996

  • Heard of graphics and some confusing stuff. Red made it a hit.

  • is there any difference in the gameplay other than the language? and does it use one of the pokemon sets from red blue or yellow?

  • this is actually pokemon blue, but the americans and the europeans thought that the graphics were terrible and that the name Blue would score more money than Green.

  • lol i heard that when i was a kid i thought it was all just a rumor haha guess i shouldnt have put my friend on blast he told me that pokemon green was called poket monsters and i laughed lol he also told me he had it on his computer

i feel like a dick lol

  • no need to, he is wrong, too!

the word "Pokémon" is short for "pocket monsters".

  • explains the e.............................ROFL!

  • It's a japan only game.............

  • if you think i'm lying im not

  • Whatever

  • You have a fan translated rom

  • no it's not, this was also available in Italy and some other countries.

  • leaf green?

  • nope absolutely pokemon green english version. It is not coloured and it says pocket instead of pokemon

  • may i ask how u got it?

  • he downloaded the ROM, and played i on an emulator.

  • do u know where can i get the ROM ??

  • They never released this is in most countrey's i dunno why

  • they did not release this version internationally because the coding of the game was very fragile in japan. after they released the japanese blue version, the g ames had to be completely reprogrammed for international release. the result was red and blue.

  • Technically they did. US/International Blue uses the wild Pokémon and such from Green, but uses the translations and sprites from Blue. US/International Red does the same for JpRed, using its wild Pokémon and such but the JpBlue sprites and general engine.

  • i understand all of that. i realize that the japanese blue was used as a foundation for the international release. however, the original red and green versions could not simply be translated into english like most games are nowadays. the coding was too weak. consequently, they had to reprogram the games entirely from scratch using the method you described.

  • You should've named your main character ミドリ, and your rival アカ.

  • Lucky for me I have this for the gameboy.

  • Aa. What a unique name.

  • lol wow this came out when i was 3! then the english versions came out when i was like 4 and 5, i got pokemon blue when i was 6, lol i love the pallet town music, good memories

  • I always wondered why it wasnt water blue lol

  • is there a different between "green" and "blue;red"??

  • green was only released in japan and thats the only diference i know of

  • there's another difference...when you finish your pokedex with 150 pokemon they give you mew

  • that would have been the best . but i guees if they did they they wouldn't make any money at the nintendo events right

  • Different sprites.

  • My cousin bought this from the Phllipines back then. (I had blue version American ) Then when we got back home I wanted to evolve my Kadabra (i think i forget the names) and the only way was to trade it. So i traded it and we got completely different Pokemon. And when we traded it back they were different again. Try it out

  • well its my understanding this was ONLY japanese?.... hm... so wait i thought that red and blue came together and yellow was the "special" game to red/blue... but green got me confused... also leafgreen and fire red never had their "special" game im pretty sure it was ocean blue or sea blue but never got made... anyway green now has me mixed up with the classics

  • In Japan, they had Red and Green -- and in the rest of the world, it was Red and Blue. Why they changed the color still blows my mind though.

  • Their "Special" was Pokemon Blue Version.

Pokemon Blue Version was an updated version of Red and Green.

The other countries got Blue Version in the form of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, and then a final update with Yellow.

  • all i know is green was only released in japan as red and blue were in amerca and yellow was later released after pokemon pinbal

  • retropokemon . com

  • ive been playing pkmn since it came out. it would be awesome to read japanese so you could buy the jap version alot earlier than the us one.

  • wow i miss when i was younger

  • So hah, I was right when I told my sister there was Pokemon Green!

  • So the order was Red and Green then Blue then Yellow, then Gold and Silver, then Crystal, and then whatever crap came under the title "Pokemon" thereafter?

  • In Japan, Pokemon was 1st released in Red and Green while in America there was Red and Blue. The U.S. Blue is the same as Japans Green. What you really want it Japans Blue version they later released. Pokemon were redone to look better and you can find them in different areas.

  • i hav all 3

  • I have the Red verson :D

  • i have the yellow version.

  • i have the blue version

  • My Friend had a Japanese Green version and almost beat the game not knowing any Japanese but he is Japanese

  • same with me,i just got it!!!

  • pokemon green looks diffrent cause when i saw my friend play it he was a clafairy collecting stuff kinda like mario

  • 0:26

  • Originally, there was Pocket Monsters (Pokemon) Green and Red in Japan. These two titles were released in February 1996. An enhanced title called Pocket Monsters (Pokemon) Blue was released October of that same year. However, the coding of the games were very fragile due to their length development. In order to release the titles internationally, they were completely reprogrammed. The result was Pokemon Red and Blue. Consequently, the original versions were never released internationally.

  • pokemon green did not come out in the US, it was replaced by pokemon blue, at least when the games first came out this was the case, it is concievable that one may be able to find a pokemon green in English.

  • i miss the old battle songs in these pokemon games, even though it was on a synthesizer and piano, it was still cool lol

  • i have a gameboy color version it is pokemon green and it is in perfect english :D

  • 0:01

  • I have a green version which i got soon after its release. The text is in english and it's blue-toned colour. There is l/b/g in colours?

  • That's what we call Blue version....

    ...or a pirated copy

  • Aah! So original!

I wish I had a copy, but I think I should learn my Japanese, first. But I've been playing Yellow, so I think it's the about the same dialouge.

  • I have the original cartridge for this and beat it with no trouble. My pokemon were like in the 40's and I had all the attacks memorized lol I even 1 hit ko'd the eliete four

  • I like the battle sprites better in this version. They look cleaner...

  • i ordered this off ebay lol :p

  • same lol

  • Ah..

I played pokemon blue like that..

    But I couldn't find the save button..T^T

  • i cant read that but any pokemon fan/nerd would know what he says (like whats your name this is your rival crap like that) 5/5 and faved

  • POKET MONSTERs! Man that brings back memmories XD!

  • This is what leafgreen is based on though. I think.

  • pocket........monsters? sounds like a 5 yr old kid made that lol

  • Pocket Monsters is the full name of PKMN, it is mainly called that in Japan.

  • If you purchase this game, can you play it on an American Game Boy Color?

  • Yeah, you can

  • Oh you got the untranslated version of pokemon green? I like the translated version too, it's engrish! lol. Which is understandable to why this game was never relised outside of Japan. However, i wonder why Blue and red were never translated into Engrish like green? strange is it not?

  • wait do you mean its english but in like a japanese dialect so like " I rike you a rot" basically like scooby doo.

  • Not really, the "r" is like this:

    R+L+D = Japanese "R", or "L" if you're gonna change everything xD.

  • lol i think so, the engrish version is funny too though, the guy tried his best X]

  • Oh shit haha when they still called it Pocket Monsters lol before it got all popular and released as PokeMon lol that's freat. I have this ROM on my ipod but I haven't played it yet in fear it's not translated

  • It was always called pocket monsters, that's what they called it in japan. English port got named pokemon.

  • So it's still Pocket Monsters in Japan?

  • Yeah, It's called Poketto Monsutā in Japan. Which translates to Pocket Monsters.

  • Oh, I heard they later changed it to Pokemon over there to lessen confusion. But thank you for that, now I know better lol

  • Rom? iPod? Must know more! Tell meh! Will it work on an iPod Nano?

  • haha what generation nano?

  • 4th. It is orange.

  • Nope. Only 1st gen nano can get iBoy. If you had a 1st gen nano or any gen touch you could

  • Dumbass, you have to have a green iPod for Pokemon Green.

  • first time i saw an OLD OLD pkmn game in japanese

  • play pokemon blue which is the english verison

  • lol i downloaded this rom and it was crappy spelling, this is the japenese version of blue, its not fake,go to japan and try to find it,which i doubt its there

  • I have the original japanese pokemon green and its not that crappy plus you can catch more than 100 pokemon

  • the japan green version became the blue version in europe and the USA...

the japan blue version has the pretty crappy sprites and hasn't been published in europe and the USA

  • pokemon green has better graphics lol

  • This is real I have it in a rom and I got it at japan

  • this is a fake cause in the beginning where it said the copyrights, they were in english, and at 0:23 it says green version below the big title in english

  • thunder your dumb i have this version. its not fake. i actually got it in taiwan

  • then why are the copyrights in english if its a japanese game?

  • copyrights were always in english for some reason. i dont know why. my version is japanese and the copyright is also in english. ask the creators of the game not me.

  • no, this is a real game, stfu

  • same :P high five :P

  • According to an article I read, Pokemon Green was sold in Japan along with Pokemon Red. The quality of the images were pretty poor in Green, so they redid it, and released the new images in Pokemon Blue.

  • ROMs...

  • venasaur blows charizard and blastoise ftw

  • Comment removed

  • yea venisaur is okay, but charizard and blastiose rape
