  • Rock on boys! Enjoyed that very much!

  • This is Awesome !!!! You guys are great together. Just bought my first one row melodeon, and can't a thing with it. I'm so envious

  • Pity you can't spot the tune for the ornamentation..... Too many notes chaps.

  • That is fast finger work! Impressive!

  • @DerekTheNutter great playing mate! for getting started on the melodeon, would you recommend going for a one-row or two-row? I'm a mandolinist, and all of those buttons intimidate me a bit :/ so do you think the benefit of a two-row being more versatile is outweighed by it's difficulty to learn compared to a one-row?

  • is this in CF or DG or what???

  • @krazykai100 Straight DG ..no accidentals!

  • nice accordions. Castagnaries... very good playing.

  • Fantastic playing. I'm about to buy my first D/G melodeon and seeing young(ish) guys playing so well and obviously enjoying it is a real inspiration.

  • Very good rythmique ! It's a pleasur to listen you !

  • Always cheers me up , with a hint of envy,I do try to keep up on my Pokerwork,

Derek I have featured you on my Grantown Session Facebook page,

cheerio from Gary the box player In Grantown

  • Hi Guys I keep coming back for more of Derek and Jimbo and i hope you'll both come to Ireland sometime, you'd go down a treat at any session or Fleadh Ceóil

    ( Music Festival ) !

Have a listen on youtube to a Track by " Beoga " called " Trolleyed " it's 2 Irish guys playing 2 button accordians.....I'd love to know what you think..it's not better than ye or worse ...just different !

  • Hi, I'm glad to see It's not just me that plays with the thumb at the rear of the keyboard, instead of on the edge. Is that recommended, or just how you prefer it?

    Lovely sound by the way.

  • Record some more videos.. you guys are great...

Nice to see some box duets

Friendly hello from across the Channel!

    Odette

  • EPIC

  • hey brilliant sounds there! I'm considering buying one of these to teach my self is that a bad idea? Is that too hard? I'm pretty confident though I've taught myself to play pretty much anything I lay my hands on. whats your final word on teaching yourself melodeon?

  • thanks boys for that performance, I really enjoyed that........keep on having fun with that wonderful instruments

take care and greets from Austria

    Thomas

  • suddenly I'm very interest in playing :)

would you say this kind of melodeon is easier to learn/play than a piano accordion?

  • I do! .. I started with an accordion for less than 1 year ... wanted more Rhythm and less weight!!.... Melodeon was easy! ... got going well on it (with a bit of obsession) in 6 months!

  • great playing lads

  • Hi Derek if you decide to visit

" Paddyland" let me know what part you might go to and I'll give you names of a few good spots to hear and play music.

I work with the Irish Blood transfusion service and travel around the 26 counties ( The South) and i always try to get a bit of music here and there, Phil Bebbington !

  • Absolutely marvellous box-playing, and great to see young cool-dudes carrying on important folk heritage and havin' the CRAIC ( crack ) also, you would be welcome at any trad. session in ireland also, Phil B in Dublin.

  • Cheers mate ... be nice to come over too!

  • One of the best accordion videos on youtube. Thank You. Miki

  • Thanks Miki .. I appreciate your kind comment. Derek

  • sounds great

  • Fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyable playing.

  • great playing :) this tune works nicely as a morris processional tune

  • Thx TJ .. will see what i can find ... i only play by ear so will need to see if they are written down anywhere... I can guarantee the rhythm and number of notes has changed a bit! :-)

  • Thanks, guys. That is really inspirational! Could you point me to the ABC or dots for Tip Top Hornpipe? The result I get off the web is completely different from the great tune that you are playing.

  • i like it! go on like that boys, good music never has to be forgotten!

  • Gents-further to last comment -meant to say art WITHOUT the ponciness of course .

  • Gents - pure class - I am a beginner on the D/G box- after 15 years on the B system chromatic 5 row . A different world altogether but love the solidness of your tunes and the way you play them -art with the ponciness but art all the same

    All the best Nigel

  • I enjoyed this so much - very well played and a joy to watch and listen

  • This is great! More people should have viewed this video for sure. I play one similar to this! Great job! Hector

  • Thanks Hector , Will put another one up soon too!

  • great stuff guys, you deserve a pint

  • All this and no beer ? I think I know otherwise :-))
