Don't buy the DCM100B. It is horrible as well!!! Shame on B & D!!!!!!! Try to get customer service....horrible!!!!!! Get out of the business Black & Decker...

My grandmother has the exact same coffeemaker and i took it apart and fixed the leaking. it's just made cheaply with two small hose clamps on the tubes for the heating element but none further up where the hot water feeds to the filter. i just took two small tie straps and gently clamped them around the other clear hose further up and that resolved the leak. (theres one screw at the back that doesnt have a phillips head that was annoying to get out so i had to just grind a notch into a standard)

Kdouglas, do you mind me asking you where do you think the water is actually leaking from? I am a product design student and for a senior project, am thinking of redesigning the coffee machine. I like the whole separate removable water receptacle idea, but am now worried that from my online research and seeing your issue, that the receptacle idea is faulty, because it deals with seals and valves, compared to other units where the water well isn't removable and you pour water into the back.

@cjs33139 If you're serious about redesigning the coffee pot, let me help you out. Use the design of the Black & Decker OCD325 model, and combine it with the carafe from the OCD440's that were recalled, because that carafe had the no-drip spout. The 325s were extremely stable (the brew baskets didn't slip like the 440s did which caused the water all over) and the water reservoir jugs were WAY easier to handle. You'll sell a million of them, and I'll be your first customer!!

@elophan10538 Thanks for the info but I decided against redesigning the coffee drip brew and instead chose to redesign the electric percolator! Those babies haven't been updated in decades and they still have a large following. But I will make sure though, that mine, HAS a better spout that is no-drip! :)

@cjs33139 Sorry to not reply in timely manner. As far as I can determine, when the coffeemaker was new, there was a little plastic protrusion (tit), which kept the coffee filter holder fully seated against the back of its frame. After just days of use, the leaking began, thus the piece of masking tape you see pictured on upper left hand side. That worked to mitigate the leaking problem for some months, but there was always a little water leaking.

@cjs33139 (cont), we did extensive research (forums, blogs, friends, etc.) & decided on the OEM'd Williams-Sonoma Cuisinart, which makes coffee that drops into a pre-heated (hot H2O from faucet) thermo-type carafe. No leaking to date! Energy efficient! Coffee begins 2 cool in a few hrs but tastes GREAT reheated even the next day. Black & Decker made fine quality products 20 or so years ago. Sad to say that many forums (like Amazon & Home Depot for blowers), show quality suffers cross department.
