How ANYONE can hate on eachother on such a beautiful song is over my head. In my mind, Radiohead music is the music that should bring people together. This song amazes me.
@BlocosSaoLegais my theory is that the whole album takes place in the mind of a young kid in grade school between the time he wakes up to the time class starts in the morning. Its his reflections of helplessness as he learns that life is structured, and society demands him to follow the flow. This particular song to me is his perception of a robotic teacher adressing the class in a robotic fashion "kid a, kid b, kid c, complete the following task, and report back when finished"
kid a is seriously one of radiohead's best albums and this is one of the best songs on the album. You just need to be open to the essence of the music
I love Radiohead, but I have to be honest...this album is a bit too out there for me. Some amazing songs, but some that go over my head (like this one). I'll take OK Computer, The Bends, In Rainbows, and Hail To The Thief before this one.
like, i think this is a pretty good song, and i love the 90's IDM throwback sounds. but like, i don't see the beauty in it, or at least beauty that could drive me to tears. all and all kid a is radiohead's best.
@CaptianBlindfold Agreed with the last comment. I honestly find OKC to be a bit overrated and filled with too many songs. About the song itself, I think it's definitely not a song that's beautiful in the conventional manner.Thom said he distorted the vocals because the song's subject matter was too 'brutal and horrific', and the song seems like it's supposed to hold a sort of sinister calm to it. Unsettling as hell but still beautiful in a different way. Hell, that's probably just the album.
Can you watch/listen to world news any given day without thinking of this perfect lyric? "We've got heads on sticks, you've got ventriloquists." Since I first heard it I've thought that about sums it up.
I really wish I could create equally as massive soundscapes as this. Kid A and Amnesiac are like a portal to another dimension. A dimension where you constantly experience synesthesia.
i'm sorry but.....this is the groundbreaking radiohead? this sounds like noise to me....i'm sorry. it's pleasant noise mind you, but not amazing by any means. i'm sorry that you all have been brainwashed into thinking so, and have to act like snobs about it.
@blackhorse099 It's not about how catchy the tune is. It's how it makes you feel. If you take a second and just let yourself REALLY listen to this, alone, eyes closed, your mind goes on a journey.
@blackhorse099 This came out in 2000... At that time I had never heard something like this in my entire life. Plus.. You should really listen to the entire album, as the whole is wayyy greater than the sum of its parts.
@T82486..dude I'm totally with u..im white and there are even a lot of white ppl who think radiohead are strange..I work in a mostly black club and we are all cool with each other but they'll tell me to my face that white boys r strange..and I tell them right back that their shit is weird too and then we laugh about it..bcuz I like little Wayne or whoever and they like some white ppl stuff too..4get those other ppl..when u tell the truth there'll always b someone to hate u for it..
wtf is this techno cosmo universe shit??.... if u think this is the new "rock".... then fuck the 21st century music , they can never be as good as the 20th
@mull20641 are you kidding me? back then most music was actually decent (no shit factor back then either) and one hit wonders stayed one hit wonders. now all of that means fuck all nowadays, you've got people like lil wayne, soulja boy, nicki minaj, lady gaga etc who just seem to be churning out the same generic crap over and over to make millions (no offence to their fans). radiohead is one of the best bands out there, changing their sound each album but still going strong.
This song makes me feel like I am in a very large tall ceiling room, a blue coloured room with tiles, with a large pool of water in the middle. and this music is playing in the background and echoing through the room. and the water in the pool begins to rise into a funnel and twist and turn slowly to the music, and then at the end light emits from the water and begins to display a rainbow of colour in a disco light fashion to the drumming. And then when the song ends, it just settles again.
I don't see how this song seems to scare anyone. I think this is a completely normal song. I think Idioteque is creepy. Probably because I'm a messed up person :D
ive been listening to Radiohead for about 2 years. and Radiohead is honestly the only band that has truly changed my perspective on life. i will be utterly in love with this band till the end of my life i can tell already. thom yorke is like no other person on the earth. ed o'brien and the greenwood brothers are so musically inclined it makes me sick. and Phil doesn't get as much credit deserved.
orignal radiohead inspired music (Idm-ish stuff) on my channel. ignore it, check it out, whatever. I think it's good, not sure how to get people to listen.
@srnk47 The song has lyrics, but they're distorted heavily. Thom Yorke said he was annoyed at how 'pretty' his voice sounded, and how many bands that sprung up due to the success of Radiohead had a lot of vocalists copying his singing style. I think he also stated in an interview that he didn't want the vocals to drive the song; that they should be considered as another instrument.
But yeah, an amazing, dark and desolate song off of (in my opinion) their best album.
Anybody remember the old Radiohead site around the time of Ok and Kid A? I used to dig through that and found the bands recommendations for what is some of the coolest music I've ever heard: Can, Charles Mingus, etc.. I think Stanley Donwood's site was pretty visionary for the time :)
As a black person I can say this is definetely some crazy ass white boy shit. But it's awesome........believe that! If you dont' like this shit you don't like music......
I'm not a racist assclown. This is some white boy music. And it's not a perception it's the truth. The Majority of ppl that would listen to this would be white. And the majority of Black ppl wouldn't listen to this and would repeat what I just said about it being "crazy white boy shit". It's not a matter of race it's just the way it is. But, my overall point is dumbass, is that no matter your race or where you come from if you don't feel this music, something is wrong with you........
Typical racist. You prove a point to a person, and because they got shut down, what do you do, fire back with an racist comment. I listen to all kinds of music (obviously can be seen, by my liking to this song) and i'm probably more musically diversed than you. And if Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Van Halen, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, AC/DC just to name a few artist I listen too, are "massah is comin sludge" then excuse me for being an ignorant nigga, I guess.....
@T82486 leave the goofy white boys...u cant speak slang to nerds, no use!! as a black dude ur comment was 100% right...crazy white boy shit, but sounds dope...nuff said
Nope, that's how I can speak from a perpective of calling this "White Boy Music" but as a black man......and of course having black friends they would never listen to some shit like this.....and call that..."white boy music". I mean reguardless of what "society" would deem it as.....I think it's tight as fuck. I was just making a point. It's dumbasses on here who can't read between the lines of my point that's all.....
@T82486 Heads up, you technically aren't responding to anyone. If you want to respond, put your mouse over the person's comment and click reply. If you're on IPod, touch the user's comment to respond on the Safari.
If it was not a matter of race then you would not have been able to make the white/black distinction in the first place. That you were able to do so proves that race means something, which you are too cowardly to admit.
So you go on to say that this music is good for everyone, after saying its only good for 'white boys'. You must be black.
but thats how blacks always are. They only say race matters when "dem whyte boys be fuckin wit us and dont want none of us fuckin dey wimminz". Otherwise, they believe everything is good for everyone, and anyone who says otherwise is a 'racist'. So you see, race only matters when blacks say it matters, but this is really only a rhetorical exploitation of what is called 'white guilt'. They use this to disarm whites, and the State ensures that whites agree, or else.
@T82486 Well it depends. I live in San Jose CA and to find people that like Radiohead at my school is so freaking hard. People look at me when I wear Radiohead shirts and they're like "Guitar Hero" and my one black friend goes like "hey I have OK Computer". WTF the White kids here act like they are from the ghetto when the school is right in the middle of the most expensive side of SJ.
What are you a fucking moron????? I'm not trying to integrate rock music. And neither is my comment. 80 percent of the black ppl in this country if they heard this song, would say this is white ppl music. Have you gone to a Radiohead concert fuckhead? Now how many black ppl do you see there? Just like if you went to a Snoop concert, sure there would be white ppl, but black ppl out out number them 3 to 1, and if you asked most white ppl, they would say his music is black ppl music.
It's not the fact, for the last fucking time that this music IS white ppl music, or indian ppl music or whatever the fuck. It's great music. Music doesn't have a race. But it's certain type of music that most ppl listen too, that symbolize or defines a race. And this song and genre, WHITE PEOPLE WOULD LOVE MORE THAN BLACK PEOPLE. AND MORE BLACK PEOPLE WOULD SAY THAT THIS IS CRAZY SHIT MORE THAN IT IS MUSIC....IN WHICH THEY WOULD B WRONG. BECAUSE IT'S GREAT.......
@T82486 Eh don't you start on me, I simply was stating how noboday cares about the colour of your skin so you don't need to go fishing for likes anymore, ok. Pathetic.
Makes me think of being dragged out of my bed, my mouth is closed shut and it won't open; only silence can occur. I then realize that everything is going to be okay, and that the shadowy figure that had so threateningly interrupted my rest had no terrifying intentions. He only wants to show me his dark, yet beautiful world that is filled with majesty and wonder as far as the eye can see.
This is an okay song, but creep is way better IMO. I listened to creep in rock band and feel in love, but I must say I'm sort of disappointed in radioheads other stuff.
@Lisathegamergirl Felt the same way in the beginning. You need to give their songs some time. The rest of their songs are not as easy-listening, and require more attention. It's worth it though.

@Lisathegamergirl is about time you fucked off, you dont know anything. go listen to top 40 radio some more. and calling yourself a "gamer girl" is the gayest thing i can think of btw
@sansdeity420 I was just joking, Radiohead is probably one of my favorite bands and I love almost all of there albums with the exception of pablo honey. I was just curious to see how people would react to such a ridiculous comment. Most did respond excellently but I'm disappointed with you. Getting mad and being homophobic bigot is not going to help anyone stop listening to the trash they pass off as music these days and listen to one of the greatest artists of our time.

T82486 1 month ago

@Lisathegamergirl you need to listen more, all of their songs are different, and amazing!

@Lisathegamergirl Felt the same way in the beginning. You need to give their songs some time. The rest of their songs are not as easy-listening, and require more attention. It's worth it though.

@Lisathegamergirl is about time you fucked off, you dont know anything. go listen to top 40 radio some more. and calling yourself a "gamer girl" is the gayest thing i can think of btw
sansdeity420 5 months ago
@sansdeity420 I was just joking, Radiohead is probably one of my favorite bands and I love almost all of there albums with the exception of pablo honey. I was just curious to see how people would react to such a ridiculous comment. Most did respond excellently but I'm disappointed with you. Getting mad and being homophobic bigot is not going to help anyone stop listening to the trash they pass off as music these days and listen to one of the greatest artists of our time.
