@UrbanCurrent I live in New York City, do you know a place I could practice ( besides Central park) and get an actual teacher, Your vids have helped alot, I learned the wall up thanks to you.
@musicwithapoint I'd recommend K-Swiss Ariake Shoes for Parkour. They have really good grip, and are usefull for other tricks too, like the Wall-Run. You can buy them for about $100,- . I hope this tip helped you.
Your vids are very helpful. I followed all the steps and i have been practicing and know i can jump a distance of about 2.15 meters.
But is still know i can get even farther and my question is: I saw in you vid that at some point you pulled your arms back and then to the front, was that for balance or for more distance?
@realderekbrothers What you're talking about is called "Cat to Cat". Search the tutorial on youtube. I thinks its very easy though. While in cat position move towards the wall fast, then quickly push away with your hands and feet while turning to cat leap towards the wall behind you.(I did this in some bathroom stalls it's easy. Plus I never looked at any tutorials but you should).
@xXchipmunkXx367 Oh wait you mean when I said that I never looked at any tutorials but you should right? Guess it does sound like an asshole comment now that I see it... Dx Bad word placement on my part. I meant to say that its easy to do without instructions. Unlike the precision jumps that are just impossible to do without good instructions. Even with many tutorials I've seen(like 20) I just can't land a rail to rail precision :(
@SI0AX yeah its cool though atleast your not like other people that bitch at people that just cant do it very good, not saying you cant do it good but look 8 dislikes
i jumped from one ledge to another, but when i landed my feet slipped from under and i scraped myself all over and hit my head. can you help please? i was also a little scared that i was either gonna over jump or under jump
A tip to any learners out there: Bend your legs a little ( a tiny, tiny bit ) just before you land. I say this because a friend of mine was double jointed (his knees bend slightly beyond straight), and when he landed, he had both his legs completely straight. He hyper-extended both of his knees and shattered his caps. 5 years of careful nursing before his ligaments were completely healed.
My only problem is the fear of jumping from one place to another one with a little gap between, Im scared of either losing the grip on my shoes, and slide frontwise and land on my tailbone or landing with my lowerleg on the edge x)
Great but like the other guy said make sure that your legs don't crunch down the best method i know is what my instructor told us "make sure that you keep your knees at a 90 degree angle" awesome vid 5 stars
This is a really good and helpful video but you shouldn't bend your knees that much because it's bad for them and it propels most of your motion into the ground. Thank you for the video though because it does help a lot that you explain everything!
@UrbanCurrent is 7ft far with a small run up ? and about 5ft and a half to 6ft without ok cosidering ive just started and am 14 and not well built (skinny) but tall
@metalpk93 Landing on a rail seems easier with the middle of your foot, but think about this: if you land on the ball of your foot, it allows you to stay on the rail while landing on the middle won't. Because it's also a weaker part of the foot, you risk inuries as well.
I've noticed that you almost always land on the edge of the object with the balls of your feet. Is it bad that I land on the middle of my feet touching the edge of the object? If you don't understand this I'll make a video. xD
To Jabba: It is always good to land on the balls... landing in the middle of the foot causes a much higher chance of sliding off the object as well as loss of balance. Landing as light as you can is usually the key, in my opinion
What made you think of throwing a rock in a garbage can. You would think shooting a basketball would be a more obvious chioce. It doesn't matter I was just wondering how you thought of it. Best precision tutorial I have seen.
I've got a question that's been bothering me for a while... Does being bowlegged and flat footed change the way that one has to land? Since flat footed people have loose ankles and a harder time balancing, does this make precisions harder? Thanks for an answer if I do get one
Oh, really? I never knew! Thanks for the answer. It seems like you've got good form for all your moves, though. Do you know exactly how flat footed you are?
You know, I've thought about how to increase my precision jump before, and you know what? I thought up every one of these tips in this video on my own. It really is all common sense, but it's great and helps loads. :)
very good video, but you forgot an important fact, if your ass touches your heels, you are not strong enough to take this jump, better train in 70-80% of your maximum distance to reduce impact on your knees

I wonder how much pressure we put on our knees when we do precision jumps. Do you think a lounge would be more or less pressure?

if u wanna land on a rail u also land on the balls of your feet? or in the middle of your feet

The technique does change regardless of the obstacle, it is just the difficulty that changes. So yeah, on the ball of your feet.

Also, impact on the middle of the foot for long jumps can cause arch problems.
Crazinazin 2 years ago
especially if flat footed?
khira18047 2 years ago
Well if you take any significant impact on your arch you'll sustain damage. I don't know how much that would affect it.
